These last 6mos to 1 year when used everyday, are dirt cheap, totally natural, and wont turn to goo in hot weather. Have tested them, and yes they work.
I cant stand the feel of regular deodorant on my skin or the smell of heavy perfumes, so I sought out alternatives. More and more I find that alternatives to mainstream consumer products are actually better, healthier, and cheaper in the long run. Ironic, eh?
You can pack these without having to worry about them getting all over everything like regular deodorant.

Thu, November 29, 2007 - 2:31 PMDo tell! The Germans love them, but I have never used them, tell us your story! -

Re: Mineral Salt Deodorant Stone
Fri, November 30, 2007 - 11:10 PMI've used them as a camp counselor. I've used them as a backpack leader. I've used them when I was involved with man who hated the scent of deodorants. You might get a bit less sweat, but you will still stink. As for the Germans, I'm not impressed. During my vacations in Germany and France, I wasn't impressed with their over all hygiene. -

Re: Mineral Salt Deodorant Stone
Sun, December 23, 2007 - 8:19 PMAnd as bad as aluminum's may be for us, I can't help but wonder how bad concentrated salts might also be. it's something to consider.
Anyway, I used these mineral salt rocks back in my militant hippy days (about 2 decades ago), and somehow or another I contracted a bizarre fungus in my armpits. I broke down and shaved the hairy beasts, but that alone didn't get rid of it. I began using antrimicrobial soap once in a while and still, no change. As far as I know there was no discernible odor (keep in mind that everyone I hung out with back then doused themselves in patchouli, so who knows if they could smell anything other than that--which smells more like a dirty rodent cage to me than a sweet hippy nowadays). Anyway, the ONLY thing that got rid of it was Arm & Hammer Anti-Perspirant/Deodorant.
I will never go back.
-K
p.s. I was also a vegetarian back then, so the theory that a vegetarian diet will keep such odors, bacteria and fungi at bay is untrue. -

Re: Mineral Salt Deodorant Stone
Tue, April 15, 2008 - 11:15 AMwithout anti-perspirant, I produce a large amount of sweat in this south Texas heat. I then produce huge heat rashes under my arms because of the musty heat. WITH anti-perspirant, I do not.
That's why I wear it.
When I travelled on the subways in Germany I had to keep a perfumed hanky with me. Why? Deodorant is not a common use item there and when a woman with bushy arm pits lifts her arm in front of your face to hold the rail on the underground subway you get this rush of musty warm fritos smell that envelops you and gags you and sticks to your tongue you can see how fast I whip out the hanky. Imagine that there are 50 people all stinking like that in a tiny metal tube and you can get an idea of how foul it really is.
