Uniting All Dubwize Sounds
Global Dubwize Vibes & Dread Bass Culture
Saturday August 23rd 2008
Special Guests featuring:
Hey Friends and Family!
Thanks to everybody that came out to Surya Dub on Saturday to dance their ass off to the lazer bass explosion that Lazer Sword brought and the deep beats and unreleased dubs of Monkeytek. Upstairs in the yard with Green B was full on roots and dancehall foundation, selector business to the top degree. Bass-heavy sounds from across the spectrum, from East to West, South to North, from futuristic projections to roots classics always on hand. Check out the pics here by Surya resident photographer Kelly K.
And we are proud to announce our recent Best of Bay Award and are honored to carry the torch of “Best Ambassadors of Dread Bass!”

Surya Dub wins 2008 SF Bay Guardian
Best of the Bay for
Best Ambassadors of Dread Bass!!
The Surya Dub crew continue to push forward new styles and sounds and we feel blessed to have been awarded in our own newly created category in the Best of the Bay this year. Super thanks and much respect to our fans and supporters round the world for this! Here's what the Guardian says.
BEST AMBASSADORS OF DREAD BASS
"That cracked and funky dubstep sound surged through Clubland's speakers last year, an irresistible combination of breakbeats energy, dub wooziness, sly grime, intel glitch, and ragga relaxation. Many parties took the sound into uncharted waters, infusing it with hip-hop hooks, Bollywood extravaganza, roots rock swing, or "world music" folksiness. But only one included all those variations simultaneously, while pumping local and international live acts, fierce visuals, multimedia blowouts, and an ever-smiling crowd of rainbow-flavored fans: Surya Dub, a monthly lowdown hoedown at Club Six. The Surya crew, including perennial Bay favorites DJ Maneesh the Twister and Jimmy Love, and wondrous up-and-comers like Kush Arora, Kid Kameleon, DJ Amar, Ripley, and MC Daddy Frank on the mic, describes its ass-thumping sound as "dread bass," which moves beyond wordy genre description into a cosmic territory the rumble in your eardrums can surely attest to. Surya Dub keeps it in the community, too, helping to promote a growing network of citywide dubstep events and spreading their dread bass gospel with parties in India."

flyer
Attention all Surya Dub massive and curious minds! Big tings a gwan in August --we're spreading an even wider net than usual, catching us some world-class musical forces. A week before folks leave for the playa, it's good to blow off and blow up the dusty divisions between genres and categories, and we're here to help, aided by none other than DJ /rupture (Soot Records/Dutty Artz/Negrophonic.com), who graces us with his future style, globe-hacked, electronic ragga vibes. We're also calling in US dubstep founding bredrin Dave Q of Dub War NYC for his first Surya Dub experience; and top-ranking, 9 time soundclash champion Dj I-Vier (Jah Warrior Shelter) will bring his classic bashment session which has defeated selectors around the world; Local fav Miss Haze (Primitive Science) lays down her ultra smooth DnB and dubstep blends; Surya Dub fam J. Rogers mixes up the minimal-dub-techno vibe in blipswitch fashion --but there's more-- pop some Red Bull and run from floor to floor, because long-time bay area selector Coop d'ville will also be on the decks with his deep deep crates backing him up - a truly star-studded night. Whether you take this as the last boom of summer before fall descends, or the kick-off to the burning man experience, this party is gonna be a banger!
