what makes us believe that people will change? we will have one disappointment after another, thinking "oh! this might be different. they will be the person we want them to be." instead they are the exact opposite of that. is it the fact that we think people will change over time and become more benevolent and fair, thus eliminating that disappointment or that fear of disappointment...or are we just ignoramuses?
