Symbiosis is in limbo…
Not the fun kind with fruity drinks, tiki torches, and bending over backwards to get under a stick.
More like the bardo… where we wait in hopes of a phase shift.
Over the last 8 months, the Symbiosis production crew has been diligently looking for a new home. A home where we don't have to worry about gun-toting red-necks, narrow and broken down roads that threaten to dissolve into oblivion, and a place where neighboring folks are pumped up to host a truly transformational event with next level art, music, and participatory workshops of all kinds.
This is what we seek… and WE NEED HELP.
In truth, this is what Symbiosis really is: the coming together of unique and disparate beings to create something much more that the sum of its parts.
We have grand plans for the future, including more events geared towards shifting our current relationship to the earth from an extraction mentality to a cooperative and regenerative one, however today we wait in limbo…
Here is where we ask for help…
We need...
*60-120 acres of flat ground in the middle of 200-300 acres
*Road access of 18-22 feet to account for emergency vehicles
Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes… Now get out there and find us a home…
Rewards will be presented in this realm and in the afterlife...

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Thu, June 12, 2008 - 10:21 AMHave you looked at the Black Oak Ranch near Laytonville?
It's the home of other festivals, including the Kate Wolf and Earthdance festivals, and Wavy Gravy's Camp Winnarainbow. Apparently, the property is owned by a collective (The Hog Farm) that wants activities on their property to be for good causes.
I last attended an Earthdance festival there in 2004, and they had over 2000 attendees. -

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Thu, June 12, 2008 - 3:55 PMthey seriously need to put a kll strip in that highway there lots of roadkill and i think a killstrip would prevent some cows getting ran over, i remember earthdance 2004 on the way there i almost ran a deer over, i made a complete stop, then i started back up again and it was like running aside me , then all of sudden rear view mirror big safeway brand 18 wheeler comes down and straight mac malls the deer or something it was like a baby or mid ager, and like half a mile before seeing this i rember seeing a mature one with antlers n the side of the road before all this happened!! he was giving me some sort of message!!
he was concerned!!
on the way home from earthdance i see like 3 other roadkills !!!

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Thu, July 31, 2008 - 5:33 PMi posted this reply in the other thread:
there is a giant campground in santa barbera where they hold the Lightning In A Bottle campout festival every year. this years pulled about 7000 people probably and still had enough room to be comfortable. legally the music has to be off by midnight but that wasnt a problem at all because they only had to shut off the mainstages and just moved the music to smaller camps. i think this would be a perfect spot to hold symbiosis.
hope this helps

Sun, August 3, 2008 - 12:19 AMand they poison all the squirrels so you get to watch baby squirrels slowly die while youre at a party. not fun. :( -

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Sun, August 3, 2008 - 12:20 AMoh and i have been thinking about that laytonville place myself, tho i havent been there but i know there are many festivals there. and yes i vote that some preventative measures be taken to reduce the amount of roadkill.

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Wed, September 3, 2008 - 7:37 PMWhat about teaming up The Eleuis Project? I think they designed the land with similar intentions as Symbiosis. I heard they have various theaters, permaculture gardens, camp grounds and even a 'dance dome.' (?!)

- Proximity to Bay Area?
- Desert?
- Wooded / farmland? -

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Thu, September 11, 2008 - 5:09 PMthe one i suggested is a forest campground in santa barbera. does this event HAVE to be in SF? i think people would be willing to drive down for this and the campground here is pretty sound and legit. dunno just something to look into =)
This 40 acre campground is nestled in pristine wilderness between the San Raphael and Santa Ynez Mountains. It's closest neighbor is the San Marcos Golf Course, over whose greens you will drive on the way to the campground.
Originally a campsite for cowboys, Live Oak is the county's largest group facility. It is strategically situated 15 miles northeast of Santa Barbara and 15 miles southwest of Solvang approximately five miles from Cachuma Lake Recreation Area
Amenities include:
Hot showers & restrooms
Roofed Pavilion and eating area that seats 250 guests
Group Picnic Areas
Bird Watching
Hiking Trails
Tent or RV Camping
Just 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara.
LIVE OAK CAMPGROUND
4600 Highway 154, Santa Barbara, CA 93105
From San Francisco
Fill up your car with friends, then... Take the 101 South appx 280 miles to the 154 East. Take the 154 East towards Lake Cachuma appx. 20.5 miles. Once you pass Lake Cachuma you will see San Marcos Golf Course on your left hand side. (You will see a small orange sign on your right that says Live Oak Campground) At the bottom of the hill turn left into the Golf Course entrance. Make an immediate left towards Live Oak Campground and follow the signs to the festival.
for booking info:
www.sbparks.org/DOCS/specialevents.html
now it says 2000 max, but there had to have been 6000 people at LIB easy lol. plus 40 acres is ALOT of space to work with. -

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Thu, September 11, 2008 - 5:10 PMo yea and you can google the campground easy =p -

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Mon, September 15, 2008 - 1:16 AMIdeally the land would be north of San Luis Obispo, south of Portland and wooded. Maybe even a small town that wanted to team up to bring some commerce to their homes. Eluesis Project folks have been undergoing a transformation of their board. We are still looking... and still need help... -

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Thu, September 18, 2008 - 3:36 PMI just returned from earthdance and couldnt think of a better place where people truly try to come together and create an environment where everyone is allowed to let all there ideas out and feed off of each other to create and grow into something truly amazing. Always be glad to help with set up and body and energy work, peace and love

Mon, February 2, 2009 - 6:14 PMWhat about Camp & Sons in Willits? I'm not quite sure if it's big enough but it just might be. -
-
Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Tue, February 24, 2009 - 12:59 AMi think a general consensus is giving camp and sons a break from these kinds of events for a bit...
long story..not mine to tell :P

Re: Symbiosis Needs You!!!
Tue, March 31, 2009 - 12:26 AMNot big enough.
Camp and Sons I think wants 300 maybe 500 max.
Symbiosis needs something that will hold 2000+ from my understanding.
