Re: > Maybe its a spot where there arent any crazy redneck hippie-hating neighbors with guns! <
Thu, May 22, 2008 - 1:53 PMSymbiosis is in limbo…
Not the fun kind with fruity drinks, tiki torches, and bending over backwards to get under a stick.
More like the bardo… where we wait in hopes of a phase shift.
Over the last 8 months, the Symbiosis production crew has been diligently looking for a new home. A home where we don't have to worry about gun-toting red-necks, narrow and broken down roads that threaten to dissolve into oblivion, and a place where neighboring folks are pumped up to host a truly transformational event with next level art, music, and participatory workshops of all kinds.
This is what we seek… and WE NEED HELP.
In truth, this is what Symbiosis really is: the coming together of unique and disparate beings to create something much more that the sum of its parts.
We have grand plans for the future, including more events geared towards shifting our current relationship to the earth from an extraction mentality to a cooperative and regenerative one, however today we wait in limbo…
Here is where we ask for help…
We need...
*60-120 acres of flat ground in the middle of 200-300 acres
*Road access of 18-22 feet to account for emergency vehicles
Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes… Now get out there and find us a home…
Rewards will be presented both here and in the afterlife... -

Re: > Maybe its a spot where there arent any crazy redneck hippie-hating neighbors with guns! <
Wed, May 28, 2008 - 9:27 PMyeah, if we just get larger land then we don't gotsta worry about any neighbors -
-
Re: > Maybe its a spot where there arent any crazy redneck hippie-hating neighbors with guns! <
Sat, June 7, 2008 - 12:04 PMPerhaps Symbiosis needs to purchase its own piece of land, then they will be the "neighbors" and will have the duty of protecting their own property rights.
Finding country folks who are excited about a 24 hour a day, 4 day long concert in the middle of their peaceful wilderness is going to be a hard sell. Remember, these folks have intentionally chosen a quiet and peaceful lifestyle, and thousands of people descending with a stage and speakers is quite shocking.
Also, I am wondering how a Gathering of this size truly promotes a cooperative and regenerative mentality on the earth, as opposed to a extrative one. Just the idea of transporting such a large number of people, who will undoubtably be driving automobiles, and some flying on airplanes, requires a great deal of resources...not to mention all the materials and goods that must be transported to care for and entertain a group this size. Locating the event in such a rural location increases travel distances. Perhaps organizing smaller, local events is a better way to promote real sustainability among communities, and leave less of a carbon footprint in the process. Unless of course, it is really the money making opportunity of a big rock concert that Symbiosis is all about. -

Re: > Maybe its a spot where there arent any crazy redneck hippie-hating neighbors with guns! <
Sat, June 7, 2008 - 11:00 PMHi "Avery",
I find it interesting that you have no history here on Tribe. You are, in fact, a non-person here with the express purpose of slinging mud at the Symbiosis crew. Why can't you stand up and speak your mind without hiding behind a sock-puppet? What are you afraid of? Are you really here to discover the truth? Or are you just stirring up shit?
ps If you knew what was what, you would know that making money is very low on the Symbiosis promoters list of priorities as a production collective. In fact I'm sure many will have a laugh at your expense at the thought of Symbiosis Events actually making a profit on an event. -

Re: > Maybe its a spot where there arent any crazy redneck hippie-hating neighbors with guns! <
Sat, June 7, 2008 - 11:37 PMplease check out the website, they just started doing many events like Yuris night at Nasa, and the last event at Temple, which included panels on other people in the community telling us what they do , like one guy made artwork out of trash, and also a panel with the owner of temple talking about better greening with their nightclub, and some other speakers,, plus they help bring out shpongle to 1015, and a stage at the how wierd street fair, obviously symbiosis is not the only event they do, it is the main event, and such a spectacular event to check out if your in the area!! its your own choice to take a plane or take the train!!

Re: > Maybe its a spot where there arent any crazy redneck hippie-hating neighbors with guns! <
Sun, June 8, 2008 - 11:37 PMPerhaps some of your objections, and those of the neighbors,
could be assuaged by providing bus service to Symbiosis.
How much of the neighbors' objection is due to hundreds of our cars clogging up their road?
When I went to a trance festival in Germany, we got there by train.

Mon, June 9, 2008 - 6:20 PMShit man,
being how big the Earth is and all...
... You think people could find a peaceful place to assimilate to celebrate Dance, Music, Art + Nature.
...... Other than the middle of the fucking Desert in Nevada. -

Re: > Maybe its a spot where there arent any crazy redneck hippie-hating neighbors with guns! <
Wed, June 11, 2008 - 4:24 PMIs there a way to scale down Symbiosis and have it presale only for around 900 tickets or so? I know that's not optimal, but it's realistic. -

Re: > Maybe its a spot where there arent any crazy redneck hippie-hating neighbors with guns! <
Thu, June 12, 2008 - 5:17 PMNO AVERY RANCH, PLEASE
I remember Belden Town being an early site for the fest, but was moved. That area has changed a bit and would be ideal, even if not a massive space. Bobolink fest has been there for 4 stunning years.

Re: > Maybe its a spot where there arent any crazy redneck hippie-hating neighbors with guns! <
Thu, July 31, 2008 - 5:32 PMthere is a giant campground in santa barbera where they hold the Lightning In A Bottle campout festival every year. this years pulled about 7000 people probably and still had enough room to be comfortable. legally the music has to be off by midnight but that wasnt a problem at all because they only had to shut off the mainstages and just moved the music to smaller camps. i think this would be a perfect spot to hold symbiosis.
hope this helps

Re: Is Symbiosis cancelled?
Sun, August 3, 2008 - 11:19 AMHard to imagine how Symbiosis could book a lineup and change everybody's plans if it's not well underway. It would nice to have an announcement one way or another so we can make our own plans.
sad! Wanted to go
