so i noticed on the site that they recommend you bring bikes.
if i could i definitly would, but since we're flying from rochester ny and taking the shuttle from san fransisco, i don't know if that's even possible!
is having a bike ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY? it just seems nearly impossible to arrange/really expensive in our case. any thoughts?
thanks! so exited btw!

Re: bikes? do we REALLY need them?
Sat, August 29, 2009 - 3:02 PMIt's a shame no one answered about the bikes. My friends and I are coming from Pdx and will be making the trek into a 2 week road trip. Meaning no room for the bikes. But if we knew we would NEED them we would see what we could do I guess. -

Re: bikes? and everything else....
Sun, August 30, 2009 - 10:29 PMI have a couple of thoughts:
bikes: I'm bringing one because I can. I think its a new venue and it could be spread out. I somehow doubt its as big as burning man.
Another issue I have is about the website. There is no contact email to ask questions and I think the website says that its from thursday to monday, but does that mean there is music/ stuff going on on monday night or, is it time to move out on monday?
I'm trying to be patient because Symbiosis is still a few weeks away and perhaps the website will be updated hopefully with a printable schedule. I know this also a new venue and so you gotta cut people some slack. It would just be nice to have a bit more information, like distances between stages, to water, the lake, camping, etc. -

Re: bikes? and everything else....
Mon, August 31, 2009 - 2:04 AMActually, there is a contact email, it's on this page: www.symbiosisgathering.com/news/about/.
I was curious as well, I asked them about the bikes and the music a few days ago. The area isn't that big, they only recommended bringing a bike for fun, and they said that it's only about an 11 minute walk from one side of the festival to the other.
They'll have a music schedule up within two weeks of the event. And I think there will be music on Monday morning but they're going to try and have everyone leave in the afternoon/evening. -

Re: bikes? and everything else....
Mon, August 31, 2009 - 7:37 AMgood to know. 11 minutes isn't a huge trek at all! i wasn't sure how huge it was since that was reccomended. if i had to, i wanted to prepare myself mentally to be spending a lot of time walking and being tired

Re: bikes? and everything else....
Sun, September 13, 2009 - 7:16 PMWas just at this venue for the strawberry music festival in the Spring. Many of those people go every year forever and yet there were VERY VERY few bicycles in use. Symbiosis has a more "burning man" sort of crowd and yes, bikes would help you get around faster from venue to venue, but folks flying in need not buy a bike for it like might be a good idea for the burn.
See ya'll there. The venue is the BEST!
Peace
Baba
