Ivlost a black Sony cybershot camera on Sunday night outside of the teahouse stage after seeing campfire songs with Micah and leighton. I am offering a cash reward for it's return no questions asked. I am more interested I. The 4gig memory card than anything else and would give a large cash reward for only that. My number is 831-419-8357. I am very sad about this so if you or anyone you know had this camera please help me get my pictures back! Thanks and much love.

I lost my Cannon Sd1000 digital camera over the weekend.
It was in a blue carrying case w/ some business cards, but may have fallen out when I lost it.
I am sooo bummed, would be super stoked to have it returned.
Or even just the pictures that were on it were priceless from an amazing weekend at Symbiosis.
Thanks to all of you for your help!

Symbiosis is going to be super uber great this year in the new venue.

Being near a national park and national forest, I'm not sure what Law Enforcement rules that area, but as a new venue for this event it's not hard to imagine that both Local Law enforcement and Camp Mather may be particularly interested in what Symbiosis is all about.

To keep things chill for the future of the event, and to avoid bad vibes or worse, I'll like to suggest that we celebrate with mindfulness and due discretion. Naturally everybody has been super cool in previous symbiosis gatherings, so its really a matter of not being blatant.

Peace

ello all!

so i've looked around symbiosisgathering.com, on their FB page and also on the camp mather site, and i'm confused about the food situation.

does anyone know: is this event totally food free, so food can only be purchased through the vendors?
or do we have access to the bear food lockers?

thanks!

so i noticed on the site that they recommend you bring bikes.
if i could i definitly would, but since we're flying from rochester ny and taking the shuttle from san fransisco, i don't know if that's even possible!

is having a bike ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY? it just seems nearly impossible to arrange/really expensive in our case. any thoughts?

thanks! so exited btw!

Symbiotic Mural @ Symbiosis Gathering 09 Yosemite!!

This year for the first time ever at Symbiosis Gathering, we will be featuring a great Community Interactive Symbiotic Mural. This mural will present the opportunity to over 3000 people at Symbiosis; (including children, families, adults, elders; no one turned away) to be involved with a large community painting over 20 feet in length. Our head staff is a group of professional artists who will be on site assisting and guiding everyone who is interested in contributing to the mural. This project aims to encourage artist community and exchange; and fosters an environment to peacefully do so. With the right support and hard work, this mural can prove to be a community art piece of epoch proportions and present a new avenue for community art possibilities.

To PREREGISTER your participation email sparkuhl@hotmail.com with subject: "Symbiotic Mural." If you are an active artist, sending examples of your work is greatly appreciated!!

Symbiosis Needs You!!!

Symbiosis is in limbo…

Not the fun kind with fruity drinks, tiki torches, and bending over backwards to get under a stick.

More like the bardo… where we wait in hopes of a phase shift.

Over the last 8 months, the Symbiosis production crew has been diligently looking for a new home. A home where we don't have to worry about gun-toting red-necks, narrow and broken down roads that threaten to dissolve into oblivion, and a place where neighboring folks are pumped up to host a truly transformational event with next level art, music, and participatory workshops of all kinds.

This is what we seek… and WE NEED HELP.

In truth, this is what Symbiosis really is: the coming together of unique and disparate beings to create something much more that the sum of its parts.

We have grand plans for the future, including more events geared towards shifting our current relationship to the earth from an extraction mentality to a cooperative and regenerative one, however today we wait in limbo…

Here is where we ask for help…

We need...

*60-120 acres of flat ground in the middle of 200-300 acres
*Road access of 18-22 feet to account for emergency vehicles

Thanks to everyone for their support and well wishes… Now get out there and find us a home…

Rewards will be presented in this realm and in the afterlife...

The Mayan Sacred Calendar and Solar Wind

The Mayan Sacred Calendar (the Tzolkin) is said to be a graphic representation of a Logic transmitted by star harmonics that unlock doors of Universal Consciousness and interdimensional reality. If so, it ought to sound something like solar wind, right? Having translated the Tzolkin into sound, we offer you a comparison between that and actual NASA recorded solar wind.

When the Tzolkin's harmonic Logic is sequenced in the sonic register and played back at high speed, it sounds very much like solar wind recorded by the Voyager spacecraft, also played back at high speed. The primary dif being the Tzolkin is composed of only 13 harmonics and the solar wind has them all.

Check it out:
http://www.darkmother.com/SolarwindTzolkinComparison

The flier I have looks sweet, but its from the fall/winter... maybe its been canceled or changed?
thanks!

i solely selected on feeling, on what music does to me when i listen to it. Music is emotion..
www.myspace.com/enduser

More artists TBA!!!!!
In the meantime............

END.USER is one of the cornerstones of the modern eclectic electronic music. Support from BBC Radio's Mary Anne Hobbs and a list of DJs too long to fit on a one sheet, from many different genres, and releases across many platforms have built him into a juggernaut. A usually prolific artist, having recorded for Hymen, Ad Noiseam, Sublight, Cargo, and many others, he took 2007 off, working on something very special - his debut album on Ohm Resistance. Having relocated to San Francisco, a new lease on his creative power is demonstrated adroitly over the entire album. Album: left shows the most range of END.USER's album making career. Intensely personal, intensely musical, and just plain INTENSE at points, the album showcases a spectacular array of skills across the board. From radio play material ("black light") with aussie vocalist Sol Thomas, to collaborations with and remixes by influential electronic acts SCORN and COUNTERSTRIKE, to absolutely stunning, no boundaries drum n bass, the album is diverse and full of powerful compositions. Compelling from start to finish, left is the culmination of more than a year's work.

Ohm Resistance is Brooklyn's premier experimental electronic label. Loaded with power, from Scorn, to Bill Laswell's Method of Defiance, to Enduser and Submerged, the label has transformed from drum n bass 12" powerhouse to cutting edge electronic project pioneer.

Dovid Krafchow author Kabbalistic Tarot

A Tarot card reading by Dovid Krafchow is a unique opportunity to enter the spiritual realm of the Cabala and experience the divine self—the soul.

The soul communicates with the body through the random drawing of the cards. The message of the soul is always an affirmation of life. The language of the soul, the language of the Tarot and the language of the Cabala are the same.

The essential nature of the Cabala prohibits one from selling their service, rather receiving with humility and gratitude what is offered at the conclusion of the reading. A Tarot card reading takes approximately twenty minutes.

For more in depth private readings, group occasions or to make an appointment to be read at Enrico’s Restaurant in North Beach, San Francisco in the enclosed terrace beneath soft warming lights call 415-398-3040 or email dovidkrafchow@gmail.com. Or see www.JewishBohemian.com

First ever appearance in Los Angeles, Terrakroma and GreenSector are extremely excited to have Antix perform a live and dj set Saturday, November 17th 2007. If you havn’t seen the brothers Strom ever play live before, then you will be in for a real treat seeing one of the great old skoolers of Progg do there thang!! Not only are we lucky to have Antix play their live and dj set, but Bluetech will also perform one of his incredible, groovy and extremely psychedelic live sets in the Downtempo stage and also perform his newest project Evan Mark, really nice, groovy techy music. If you didn’t get to see Bluetech play at symbiosis this year, then you should definitely check out his music, and if you did see him, then you know what’s up!

Not only are we lucky to have Antix and Bluetech perform for everyone, we are blessed to have Kiva and Manny from Greensector, and Dai from Psytribe join in on the fun, who are respectively some of our favorite djs in progressive psychedelic and Downtempo in the west coast. And a super surprise appearance from Trevor Wyse (Greensector), one of the main staples in the California psy scene over the past 10 years who will also share some of his Downtempo magic, not to mention one of our favorite’s Treavor from Moontribe . Also of course our resident dj’s Armando, Gabriel and Andrew (Earthbag) who just simply love to love to play their diverse progressive sounds for everyone.

ANTIX

New Zealand brothers Barton and Hayden Strom aka Antix have been producing a sublimely deep minimal groove that has been rocking dance floors accross the globe far and wide. Iboga Records in Denmark got whiff of the Antix sound and promptly signed the two brothers who then produced their landmark debut album “Lull” in 2003 and a couple years later created there second gem of an album “Twin Coast Discovery” both became landmarks on the progressive scene with top notch reviews and support from leading Dj's and fans alike.
Shortly after, Twin Coast Discovery was re-rubbed by a selection of the finest dance floor hooligans and the remix album contains seven remarkable re-edits from the likes of progressive wonder duo D-Nox and Frank Beckers (Vapour, Polaroid), Fitalic (Bedrock) and label mates Freq, Phony Orphants, Sun Control Species, Ohrsten Nors as well a bonus track by the brothers under their alter ego Fiord.
The brothers are aiming to raise the bar even higher this year, with another Antix studio album titled “Wanderers” due in June. The boys always evolving, have taken their sound to the next level, keeping to their Antix roots of deep atmospheres, infectious bass and minimal grooves but this time with a hint of old skool flavor and unleashing a new level of production.

Bluetech

A classically trained pianist and master of the art of software production. Bluetech's love of the melodic and exquisite sense of sound design makes him one of the most ingenius producers today. Bluetech's sound emerges from his custom-built Reaktor instruments and software based synthesisers as a primordial electro-dub alchemy. While encompassing musical touches from different parts of the globe, he presents a total blend, crossing genres and borders.
Bluetech has created a label called Native State Records to release his own music and music from other artists who cross boundaries between ambient/chill and more idm/experimental sounds. Not content to stay at home, Bluetech has toured extensively and performed in Japan, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Croatia, France, Denmark, Mexico, United States, and Canada.
Bluetech has released two albums on Aleph Zero Records, an internationally acclaimed chill label run by recording artist Shulman, and is currently working on a third for release in 2008. Aleph Zero brought Bluetech's music to the attention of the international chill audience, and helped to launch his career worldwide through strong support and beautiful packaging. Stay tuned for the next chapter!

Evan Marc (bluetech)

Progressive Tech project from downtempo producer Bluetech. Melodic and dub influenced music with a focus on dancefloor usability and emotional development. Evan Marc seeks to explore revolving geometries through kinetic audio sculpture. New album 'Emotional Ecology" out now and available on beatport, itunes, or on cd at Native State Records.

Off The Cuff - Retro-Breakhouse mix

http://www.overmindworks.com/synergy/NickSynergy-OffTheCuff.mp3

Since I understand there to be some breakbeat music fans who attend Symbiosis, here's a new mix you all might enjoy - an impromptu mix of old-ish, trippy, breaky tracks sprinkled with bits of four-on-the-floor, recorded totally and spontaneously live. It's unedited, except for my having to cut/fade out the last track because the turntables got bumped in the mix following it. But, things were going pretty swimmingly for an hour there...

01 - Spiro - Searching For Love
02 - Anoesis - Rhythmic Itch
03 - The Coffee Boys - Nipple Fish
04 - Metro - Stone Skippin'
05 - Rob Tissera - Kick Up The Volume (Electroliners Mix)
06 - Stepdisk - Furvert
07 - Wink - Higher State Of Consciousness (Tweekin Acid Funk)
08 - Micro & Vicious Vic - Electric
09 - Freaky Chakra - Living in the Future
10 - Intelstat - Coreshot
11 - Fatboy Slim - Next to Nothing

A little taste of quasi-old school - enjoy!

I lost my BRAND NEW brown hoodie at Symbiosis. It has a tree on the front with roots cascading down and branches going up, and the sun rising behind the tree with a bunch of sunrays intermingling with the branches. It says peace on the lower back corner. It's really soft and I love it and I only got it at Earthdance.

Sooooo...
if anyone has it or finds it or wants to buy me another one that would be great!!! :D

Where do I find Symbiosis 2005 photos?

Has anybody ever seen photos, especially night time photos, of the main stage at the very first Symbiosis? I worked on the main stage lighting design, but I've never been able to find pictures of that party at night.

I remember that a bunch of renegade kiters came and few their kites through the light show around 1AM that year. It was stunning.

Hi, it's Mike from Coil.

People have been asking me for night shots of our lighting design for this year's main stage, so here they are. These are all crisp, long-duration tripod shots. If you keep clicking for the gigantic versions (be patient while they load!), they're all ready to print out:

I posted up a montage (montage alert!!) at Stage6.

Stage6 rocks, it's free web based DivX video hosting/sharing. Blows YouTube and all that out of the water. DivX quality and compression is way better and they support wide aspect ratio. Just install the DivX web player when prompted on the site, it's quick, clean, and awesome. (Not meant to sound like a Stage6 advertisement, LOL!, just an explanation of what the site is.)

Anyway, here's a link to the vid. It's nothing particularly special, just a totally random montage of the weekend. I've got some raw clips from other times over the weekend that I'll post up unedited later on (particularly the awesome Saturday Forest dawn, and Sunday Field dawn sets):

http://stage6.divx.com/user/jdsvids/video/1675305/Symbiosis-Gathering-'07

( the background audio is a clip pulled from Sons of Aurora live @ Upplysa. If you can, help me id the track. I believe it's FREq - Dreambody. Anyway, they're great. You can listen to that whole set here: http://electronica.tribe.net/thread/79886b38-3d68-480a-b043-4b216a4164d8 )

Anyone else get any video?

the climax of Symbiosis was, for me, the Orchestra...
I am determined to connect with the many streams of music that came together for this beautiful event...
so can anyone post the names of the musicians and projects that collaborated in the Symbiotic orchestra?
especially, can anyone give me the name of the brother who was exquisitely chanting "Om Namah Shivaya"
and the names of the female beat-boxers?
i must dive into these sonic fountains!

I've been needing a new mix for a while, and the one that ended up getting recorded seems unconsciously inspired by my set at SG this year. It's definitely got that deep-in-the-forest feel to it......a lot of techno, some broken beat, some ghetto house, some dub, some glitch......little something for (almost) everyone.........hope you like it, cheers :)

looking for: Bianca / Bianka or Katja from LA

Hi, been searching tribe to see if I can find them, looking for Bianca [Bianka], but I know Katja knows her too... [so if I can find one, I can find the other]

Both of them were volunteering, I think Katja was responsible for the Porch stage deco; in any case, both of them were quite busy working on it on the days leading up to the festival... they are from somewhere east/just outside of LA, CA [past Pasadena].

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could pass me Bianca's email address; I've lost my journal...
=-(

Many, many thanks!

devil in the detail is the latest downtempo breaks and bass compilation from interchill records. with a heavy dose of chunk, crunch and glitched out textures, this album presents a diverse range of idm-inspired tunes from producers in the us, uk, holland, switzerland and israel.

compiled by uk-based label dj/webmaster/graphic designer nick edell, this fresh collection of tracks opens a new horizon in the interchill multiverse with a focus on clear minimalism and hyper-refined sounds. emphasizing the growing glitch scene emerging on the west coast of north america, devil in the detail brings together a complimentary selection of tunes from this intriguing musical aesthetic. from the delicate and atmospheric spaces of faction, tripglitch (aka tripswitch) and legiac to the rumbling bass and beats of gaudi, tipper, random rab, kitty-d, ooah and vibesquad, the compilation is all about the detail - leaving much to the imagination while revealing the fact that there’s more to the psychedelic world of downtempo electronica than first meets the eye.
molten - Faction
Faction is Yair Etziony and Rani Golan from Israel. Highlighting their musical alienation from the mainstream of their immediate environment, the music of Faction is all about subtle warm textures and the sublime, with a lot of nostalgic love of 80’s and early 90’s sounds. Yair Etziony (aka Vermont) is a producer and a DJ and is about to release a full album for the Japanese label Spekk later this year. Rani Golan (aka Smalltalk) was a member of rock groups in the 90’s and has been working as designer\programmer and sound technician since. Their first release was the album "The End Of Tel Aviv" on the Neo Ouija label.

ergl - Cheju
Cheju is Wil Bolton, UK-based producer of experimental melodic electronica and co-owner of Boltfish Recordings. He has released albums on U-Cover, Unlabel, En:peg and Filament, and EPs on Boltfish, Rednetic, Static Caravan, Smallfish, October Man, Herb and others.

blue - nalepa
Nalepa armed with his analog synths, Ableton Live, and an arsenal of effects, Steve Nalepa crafts songs by fusing together deep dub bass, glitchy breaks, bioacoustic atmospheres and beautiful sinewave melodies. Based in LA, he is a producer, keyboardist, sound designer and programmer who has collaborated with world-renowned artists from across the musical spectrum including Bill Laswell, Pharoah Sanders, Lili Haydn, George Clinton and the LA Philharmonic. Nalepa's double disc Flatlands is forthcoming on Native State Records in September 2007. The CD is packed with 15 remixes from world-class electronic musicians and the DVD features a formidable roster of video artists and 5.1 mixes of the album's original tracks.

tuesday again - Ooah
Ooah is the subsonic scientist Josh Mayer of the West Coast’s Glitch Mob and The Seedling Escape. Aka the Mob Boss, Ooah brews audio concoctions consisting of banging drum beats that range anywhere from eighty-five to one hundred and ten beats per minute, squishy gut-wrenching bass frequencies, harmonic poly-rhythmic melodies and bloopy bleepy clicks and clacks. Some might know this madman for his outstanding turntablism, others for his highly energetic and
consistently danceable hybrid dj/live laptop sets.

aftermathmatics - Flowers of Wraith
in the ethers of the invisible exists a force of desire from the lost souls longing to fulfill destinies and quests shattered by the inevitable fabric of time. they manifest themselves in our prayers and intentions, sometimes sneaking upon us and whispering the words and songs they didn't have the breath to speak in this world. they sing through us and dance with us in infinite lust for ascension. they give us flowers that do not wilt , we learn the ways of our ancestors through them. the wraiths are always hungry. we feed them with suffering and bliss. they remind us of the beauty of this life, they help us to shed our fears of the end and live for the now. we offer music to resurrect them to share the divine and dance with us.
the flowers of wraith project is a collaboration between the souls that have something to say through frequencies and choose to send them to the temporary humans who are Random Rab and Kitty-D who have no choice but to let it be known and rejoice in their conquest of eternal wisdom.
party reserve - tipper remix - good buddha
meets Good Buddha What do you get when an Aussie hip-hop label asks the UK nuskool breaks ‘King of Bass’ for a remix? An “electronica dub” tune of course! Tipper’s first foray into the dub genre, reeking of his recognizable and impeccable production style, is inspired by the rhythm of the ocean, and the warmth of the Pacific air. Follow a musical smoke trail as it wisp’s on the breeze and gently ebbs into your headspace defying you to be anything less than ‘inter-chilled’. Good Buddha is Australia’s finest funk and hip hop band currently at work on their 3rd. album. Tipper needs no further introduction.

analogue criteria - Gaudi
Gaudi is a very well known name in the Interchill family. Having released his ‘Bass, Sweat & Tears’ album in 2004, compiled ‘Sub Signals Vol. 1’ and produced the recent Ashtech album ‘Walkin’ Target’, he delivers another killer bass-driven tune for this compilation. Deep analogue synthesizers and super-groovy drums create a solid structure where dub, electro/spacey flavors and immaculate production skills are the ingredients to this audio delicacy.

kaleidoscone - Vibesquad
Vibesquad is the multi-personality brainchild manifestation of Aaron Holstein. When Aaron isn't playing bass/keys for Boulder Colorado's all improv-breakz-down-tempo-ecclectica band ZILLA or live electronic trio SPORQUE (w/Ooah & Jamie Janover) he is hard at work creating electr0-crunk-gnasty-gooey-dancefloor-throbberz and 3rd-eye-squeegeeing-multi-tempo-dub-psy-hopperz @ the Vibesquad Labz. Aaron's music defies typical genre-labeling & tempo expectations delivering the goodz from slow 'n hard lowriding krunkadelics to uptempo barnstormers all in a seamlessly flowing soulful mash dirty and beautiful as life itself.

the third nebula - Eat Static
these UK based electronica legends take some time out from their busy pre-album release and tour schedules to craft another downbeat and experimental offering to the alien gods. Reminiscent of ‘In The Nude’ and ‘Crash and Burn’ their track keeps its feet firmly placed in their love of breaks and funky grooves while dipping back into their passion for Latino and Brazilian music.

appollonia - Bigeneric
Bigeneric is Marco Repetto, a long-time electronic music producer and former drummer in punk and new wave bands like Glueams and Grauzone. Active as a live act doing epic ambient and atmospheric techno tunes, he is label owner of Inzec Records and is known for his album “Caliphor”.

reverse engineering - Radiate
Radiate is the new collaborative project from Seb Taylor & NIck Edell. As an Interchill DJ, Nick brings his minimal IDM sensibilities to the forefront, with an emphasis on found sound. Seb’s recent forays into the glitch-downbeat genre (on recent tracks under the Hibernation moniker) serve as a basis for the Radiate sound.

orgine motor - Tripglitch
Tripglitch is a new project by Nick Brennan aka Tripswitch. Nick has been involved in the music industry for many years, having co-run a commercial recording studio in London in the late 90's. A renowned chillout DJ and producer, Nick's 'Tripswitch' project has seen widespread critical acclaim and established his place in the A-list of downtempo electronic artists. As well as a long list of compilation inclusions, including selection by the likes of Jose Padilla (Cafe del Mar), Claude Challe (Buddha Bar) and Nick Warren (Way Out West / Global Underground), Nick's 2005 debut long-player 'Circuit Breaker', released on Youth's Liquid Sound Design label, was hailed as a classic in its genre. The album is to be re-released in June 07 with a brand new CD of remixes from the likes of Gaudi, Manasseh, Eat Static, Youth vs Subsonar, Mirror System and Shiloh. A brand new album is also due for release later in the year.

immerse - Chaos By Design
Chaos By Design is another of Seb Taylor’s numerous projects, this time focusing on a more drum & bass, liquid funk infuenced sound. The first Chaos by Design tracks were released many moons ago on the cult trance/breaks crossover Label 21:3 one of the first labels to experiment in such music. This track 'Immerse' sees a welcome return by Seb to this sonic style.

ruler - original mix - Legiac
Legiac is the well-known and genre-present Funckarma brothers. Teaming up with vintage analog synth-guru and professional behind-the-scenes soundtracker, Cor Bolten, their project emphasizes unearthly ambient, heartbreaking pads, punching beats and insane sound-production previously unheard in the electronic world.

is there anyway to track down the Symbiotic Orchestra performance, or the Equinox prayerformance or, in fact any of the other sets that happened at Symbiosis 07?
i am now desperately hungry to pursue so much of the music that i encountered....
i still hear it in my head, but for how long?
i want to create while listening to this sumptuousness...
any leads?

Sym-bye-osis or sym-bee-osis?

Some friends and I were discussing this the other day. I've heard all sorts of folks who attended the gathering refer to it as sym-bee-osis but I heard several of the main organizers pronounce it sym-bye-osis. Maybe there's no intended distinction, but since it's an eco-gathering I wondered whether the intended emphasis was on biology, hence sym-bye-osis.

Not a burning question, but perhaps someone can shed some light on this.

Oh, and since I haven't posted in the other threads...thank you to EVERYONE who made this gathering possible, from the organizers to the artists to the vendors to the volunteers to the dancers. We all had a part in making this happen and with our shared intention we created MAGIC. Still glowing!!

Co-creative dreaming agents unite! A call for missing art...

May I take this moment to send out an omni-directional spherical pulse of gratitude to all who made Symbiosis the high frequency galactic light node that it was...What a jewel-encrusted cap that was on an already peaking pinnacle crescendo of a summer. My gratitude is sourced from the atomic level of my being! My heart chakra felt like it was scrubbed down with babywipes, leaving a polish of diamondlike clarity. Thanks everyone....

It was an extreme pleasure to FINALLY have my art arrive after being trapped in a shipment limbo in Europe all summer, and have it presented at Symbiosis. We had a renegade gallery scene on the way to the forest stage alongside Zoriaan, Victor Olenev and Carey Thompson. I am always appreciative of displaying my work in high 'tripping hazard' zones. It always provides some interesting multi-dimensional perspectives from the psychonauts in the crowd. Thanks to all for the reflections I received all weekend about it...

Although it has not been the first time at events like this one, some of my work went missing. One piece disappeared on saturday night, despite being 7 feet tall and having spotlights glaring at it. I had imagined a whole range of scenarios regarding its disappearance, such as a rogue team of interdimensional phase-shifting art thieves from the future, to some shivering, bug-eyed spiralling spunyon wrapped in it like a blanket in the woods after having spoke in tongues with the painting all night ( some people go there...I've seen it! ) After all that, it ended up anonymously returned to the Co-Nexus art dome on monday morning. But then another of my pieces went missing that same morning! Perhaps it had been 'traded' in for a more preferred piece?

Anyway, if anyone has any knowledge of the whereabouts of this piece:

www.spectraleyes.com/gallery/artworx/omtatsat

I would be so very grateful to have it returned. I'll be displaying my art at TempleSF with Alex Grey on october 5th, and I'm putting out the call to manifest its return before then. Until we meet again in the holographic imaginatrix...Love, love and more love...Luke

Requests & ideas for Symbiosis 2008!!!!

Oh boy, oh boy, what an unforgettable weekend!!!! Thanks to EVERYONE involved, it was simply amazing.
Me and my wife will surely be back next year, hopefully with more friends!
We just immigrated to SF last year, and even though the event and the people were awesome and we met a lot of great people
we were missing our friends a lot, and imagined how cool it'd be to go with a group of em...
We were also thinking about ways to contribute to next years events, and since I'm currently enrolled in a Digital Audio Production
program, perhaps I'll do a Digital Audio workshop. Would that be a good idea?
Another thing I think might be a good idea is to have different styles/tempo's of music at the different stages at all times,
there were some hours with plenty of downtempo/hiphop/breaks at the stages, and not a whole lot of psytrance or progressive trance -
not until way past midnight. However, the psy that was there was phenomenal!!!!!
I guess Breaks is taking over? Well either way, if you have any great ideas to make next year's event even better,
you can post em here!

Cheers,

Greetings fine folk.... I had a fantastic time at Symbiosis, unfortunatley I lost my Camera Sunday Night round the main floor or walking back to my Tent while Phuture Primitive was playing.... The photos on it where such a laugh, some brilliant pixs of two crazy Aussies going off plus other beautiful photos of great friends. If anyone found it I would really appreciate it being returned..... or at least the photos. There would certainly be a reward more so than huge hugs......

Lets get it rolling !!!

First off a huge personal thank you for EVERYONE who invested their time and energy into this event. Whether you directed parking or threw down someone's favorite paradigm shifting set of the weekend, its the collaborative efforts of all involved who make this sort of thing possible.

My personal list:

Hallucinogen in Dub > into Shpongle - to top my chart - pure ecstatic rapture

then, in no particular order-

Ana Sia, Aaron/Vibesqad, Ott, Lorin, Mala, Random Rab and Bluetech.

also, the solstice prayerformance set incredible intention and tone... beautiful.

Finally, all of the aesthetic loveliness ( altars, stage decorations, etc...) that always stands out at your functions...

Thank you!!!

Beckers and the laptop was held up in customs and could not make it...

D-Nox showed up with a few CDs and showed the world what the future should sound like. Soo smooth... so strange.... so much power.... That man is a genius..... Can't wait to hear him with Beckers.... LIVE!!!!!!

The rain was a bit of a bummer. Although the rain did give a ton of us the opportunity to huddle under our shade structure and have loads of fun drinking mescal and other kinds of booze while trying to take catnaps to wait out the rain....

The highlights... Triptech was top notch, proper psychedelic. Very high production quality and composition. The Solead set with Triptech and Motion was my second favorite. Did anyone else hear that bizarre flute/ accordion track towards the end of their set. Their sound was sooooo delicate and detailed...

Oh course TICON.... These guys really know how to push the envelope. Their new material was very impressive. The Ticon snare sound is one hellll of a snare. I've been trying to get that snare out of my head but I can't...... They only played a couple of released tracks and the ones they played were some of my favorites. It was funny how they came on stage during Soleads liveset and interrupted the peak of their performace just to say goodbye and shake hands. That interruption was kind of wierd... It was like they were trying to make one last appearance in front of the crowd.

And Manny of course.... his set on Saturday night was stellar. He followed Pedro... Manny played some amazing tracks that made me feel like I didn't know up from down...

I had a blast and was sad I left early. I can't wait for next year....... LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

This year we installed multiple sorting stations spread out over the venue. The stations had 3 or 4 receptacles depending on their position to the event... Cans... Plastic Bottles... Glass Bottles... Compost... By and large people separated their recycling and left them in or near the bins.

Thanks to the team of builders that slapped those stations together like a Balinese production line...
Thanks especially to Dave and Mike for stewarding that which has been drunk to move into the next step its process of re-becoming...
Thanks to everyone for respecting the land and for taking anything that did not fit into these categories back from where it came.

Mad props to a conscious community...

what great music once again

I'd like to hear from some of the europeans about cool intimate psy trance festivals in their part of the world....would be cool to hear more about them with time to plan for attending

i do subscribe to mushroom magazine, but it's hard to get the feel of the events from their listings

also love to hear about more intimate festivals anywhere, more around here and more worldwide

thanks all

MISSING TENT: Good Karma 4 it's return.

Hello All...

Looking for my "missing" tent... Did your tentless campmate mysteriously pull a tent outta thin air?? This was the perfect capper- after driving all night 14hrs- waiting in line for over 2 hrs & sleeping in my car. THANK YOU.

Saturday morning, someone "helped themselves" to my pile of camping gear after I dropped it off in a neat tarp-covered pile by my friend's step van- 20' or so from the "official drop off spot". I parked my car. I don't really understand this. I cannot tell you how disappointing this was... not to mention how much time & energy I spent trying to put up a shanty in the RAIN all day Saturday. I'd like to thank all the beautiful people who helped me out in my situation- YOU by far outweighed this negative action.

Description:
Black Tent bag. Mostly Light Gray, Black & Yellow accents. Approx 7'x8' footprint, tall enough to stand up in. Oregon Country Fair Tag on Zipper. Some tent poles had lost their elastic.... and there was probably some red duct tape involved. What's left of a 5" gold/black transfer of the letter "A" on the rain-fly. Oh- yeah- it had TONS of Playa dust in/on it. It's survived 6 years on the playa- so it's a bit sentimental at this point.

Clear up that karma- and please send me my tent back- I'll forgive you & you'll feel better and so will I. (However, I do suggest including some type of "rental fee" as a token of your appreciation for having "borrowed" my gig.)

Thank you.

BTW.... It's really a good thing to do.... to clear this up... trust me.

xoxo

I left my Nikon CoolPix camera (a few years old - think it's a 6500 model) at the main stage after Hallucinogen - my stupidity. I am sure someone picked it up, so figured I would shout out to you all to see if it can come back to me. I still remember the photos and would sure love to see them. But if not, I'll hold them in my mind instead.

But, if you did pick it up for me, please contact me -

thanks to everyone for my favorite festival of 07!
it was great to meet everyone and despite being mostly anchored to my vending space i was blessed with chatting and connecting with so many amazing folks who came through my dwanjabi vending area.

i came across some items left at my booth...a couple of empty beer cans, a ditty bag with a lighter and (empty) small ziplock inside, and a thin outdoorsy belt...
i'm sure there are no takers on any of those...
however...
there was a *lovely* heart shaped stone inside a box that was left in a spot which makes me wonder if it was left intentionally for me.
now before i go deluding the presence of a lil cupid...i thought i'd offer it up as a "lost and found".
if you were shopping in the tribal marketplace on sat or sun and left behind what appears to be a valuable heart-shaped stone, message me with a description and i will see about getting back to you.

also, i have a few pics up. most are from the perspective of my vending space tho........

thank you everyone for an awesome time!!
see you next year
(or sooner)
