Fri, October 3, 2008 - 12:02 PMYeah, we're getting it… got a whole team on this one so I can't screw it up again.

Re: showcase lineup
Sat, October 4, 2008 - 10:02 PMI wish I could've been there, but I can't wait to see the video! I'm sure everyone was fabulous! -

Re: showcase lineup
Mon, October 6, 2008 - 7:25 AMIt was a really great show in spite of the musical gremlins creeping around. Some of us had no troubles with our music… some had moments of no music.
But all the dancing was great!

Re: showcase lineup
Mon, October 6, 2008 - 8:17 AMYeah, it was a great show.
I hope you're not beating yourself up about the music, Sahira. It is a law of the theater that what goes perfectly in hours and hours of practice beforehand will always go wrong at the last minute. There's no controlling it.
My family's favorite part of my dance was when the music cut out, so I should be thanking you :) -

Thu, October 16, 2008 - 10:23 AMThanks, Megan. I do believe the issue is the outlet, so I know it for the future!
Hey, I'm working on bringing Kaeshi from Bellyqueen next fall, just to plant a seed in the back of your mind!

The aftermath of the show…
Mon, October 13, 2008 - 12:15 PMIn the wake of the show last weekend, a few interesting things have happened…
•My mother has decided to come back to Level 2 – she does miss the dancing after all.
•A friend-of-a-friend who was brought to the show by a friend I brought to the show (who was visiting from Louisville) is now interested and excited about bellydancing… not what I would have expected from that particular gay man, whose other hobbies include DJing and video games.
•I realized that I really need to spend time working on costuming long before there's a show in sight. Embellishments need to be added before the show, not after.
•Part of me wants to offer to help pay a photographer to take pro-ish photos instead of us all either waiting a month for the DVD or hoping our family members managed to get any good shots. It wouldn't have to be anything super-spectacular… just someone who doesn't have to dance who can get a couple of well-placed, well-lit, well-focused, well-snapped shots. I was so hoping someone would get a shot of mom and I in our ending V…
Anyway… just some interesting stuff. -

Re: The aftermath of the show…
Thu, October 16, 2008 - 10:26 AMI assume you already know this, but just in case.
Editing and burning DVDs takes a very long time. They're best done in a whole batch, which is why there's a deadline on the order form.
Importing and adding chapters and editing takes a long time.
To get the best possible quality, each DVD is burned at 1X speed.
This all takes a very long time. Honestly, I have waited a year for DVDs from shows I performed in. -

Re: The aftermath of the show…
Thu, October 16, 2008 - 10:30 AMNo… I know it takes a long time… It just feels like *forever* when you're still new at performing and aren't sure of your own confidence level. (And you can't trust your own family to take decent pictures… )
