Why did you enter the contest at the IBDC? Was it the big prizes? or was it because it was in Vegas? Yes, I do have plans and thoughts running around in my wee brain. Your answer may just help me.

Actually it was neither. I was a volunteer for the IBDC and at one of the meetings in July they mentioned that the Tribal Troupe category may be cancelled for lack of participation. I asked them to wait before cancelling it. I contacted Inara and Nisha and asked them if they were interested in forming a troupe to enter the competition so they wouldn't cancel the category. I really wanted to make sure that Tribal style was represented in the IBDC which was very caberet heavy. I also thought it would be fun. Inara and Nisha agreed and we decided to do it for the fun and love of tribal dance and each other. We actually never thought we would win. We only had 3 weeks to get a routine and costuming together. It was truly a labor of love. It would have been extra special if we did actually get paid the money we won though.

I think Nisha and Inara may very well be as well, especially if it is done with respect and is used as tool to enhance our diverse and supportive local community.

Fri, February 8, 2008 - 12:18 PMI am planning to bring Wiggles of the West to Vegas in 2009. I'm not sure if it would still be in July, I'm thinking so. I figure moving it is going to be difficult enough, without changing its established date too. What do you think?? -

Fri, February 8, 2008 - 12:43 PMIt won't be this year, but next -- 2009. This is the first I have said on the net about it, really. Wiggles lost its long time home this year, just on Monday (stressfull week). I'm not even sure there is going to be a Wiggles 2008. We are still trying to find a place.
So Chris and I talked yesterday about moving it here to Vegas. It is totally different from anything else here. And frankly it would probably keep Alex from ever running another contest in Vegas (evil I know). But I will definately need the community support, both in entries and attendance. I am so glad you would be interested!! -

I do know a few others in town that were thinking of competing at other events out of town so I think it may be more convenient for them to compete in town. And I think you have seen that we do have a pretty supportive community here. I think the key would be to let people know early enough to get involved.
On another note, Inara and Nisha let me know that they would be happy to support you and your event, should it move to Vegas. So you can count on support from TABU. We had actually considered it for this year but had too many other commitments to focus on. -

Fri, February 8, 2008 - 3:18 PMI couldn't image any toes being stepped on. We haven't hosted any competitions that I am aware of except for the IBDC. And their entry fees were kinda high - $175 for TABU.
We are looking forward to Wiggles being here! I'm sure it will be a blast! -
