I want to thank everyone who cam down to the MatC event today. It was an intimate yet enthusiastic crowd dancing and shopping together in Fullerton. I ran into some old friends as one tends to do at these gatherings.
I got to try out some new teaching techniques and topics today in the workshop, which was really fun and informative for me. For those of you who don't know, we covered the stylistic difference between Raks Sharqi and Raks Baladi. I thought it went really well and could definitly see those differences in the participants movement and emotional expression. Exciting!
Please email me with any feedback you might have. Until next time....

Re: Market at the Casbah Workshop
Fri, April 6, 2007 - 5:59 PMI really thoroughly enjoyed that workshop! As someone who has always been a bit clueless as to the distinctions and subtleties of those two styles I can say that I really did come away with a whole new and better understanding of them. Going over the choreo. using both styles, one right after the other was a great way for me to learn them and feel their differences in my body. Learning from you for the past almost 3 years now has given me such a great ability for choreo. that is something that I had NEVER been able to say and learning things that way has given me an even broader understanding of our dance. I hope you will do more of these types of classes in the future, I think they are so beneficial to everyone, from baby to advanced dancers. I so wish I had learned this when I started.
Thank YOU!!
