WHY A TANTRIC CIRCUS?
I believe that a time has come when tradition and innovation must merge. We have all experienced the heaviness of the dogma of tradition. There is comfort there of a sort and wisdom. But that wisdom only comes alive when it is brought into the flow of present experiences. Nowadays we can mix and match traditions and discard outmoded ways of thinking or doing things. A vigorous cross fertilization of tradition blended with our own discoveries, inventions causes something unique to be born.
Tantra as a path to enlightenment is at least 3000 years old. Deep in wisdom so ancient it seems new to us of the West. We who are steeped in the puritanical-christian culture find it refreshing to open ourselves to the fact that we have bodies and feelings and that their very naturalness is beautiful. That our emotions are beautiful. Some of us have rediscovered that the union with another through love and loveplay is natural, beautiful and sacred. This is Neo-Tantra.
One thing about traditional spirituality is that it tends to take the fun out of our sacred experiences. I think we take ourselves too seriously. To play, to enjoy ourselves and to experience pleasure and bliss is also sacred: When done with the goal of finding harmony with the flow of the universe in our consciousness .
The circus is a place where we come to join with others in the sacred mystical dance of fun. By bringing our attention to the collective experience we are having, we join our energies with everyone there to create a ritual. The circus is a ritual!
The Tantric Circus is a participatory ritual that raises the vibration of our consciousness. Through watching attentively and staying light and joyful, we participate. With humor we may laugh at ourselves and lighten our hearts. We laugh and learn, share and grow. Through dancing to the music with consciousness we create a vortex of harmony that resonates with the joy in living.
