After contemplating a heartfelt email sent to me concerning the acquisition of my painting "King of Wands" I finally gave in, and so it is worth posting that I've unofficially ended the moratorium of never selling a Tarot painting until the deck is complete.
Truly, when a painting really speaks to someone on a deep level as I only hope a few of my works may do to some people, then indeed they should have it.
Here is some of what the purchaser wrote:
I saw this painting on display last night and it really spoke to me.
I've never really researched tarot much, but there was definitely something that drew me to the painting. I just had an understanding of its intent.
After having read up some more information on the card, I can definitely see the parallels to my own psyche. I've never really expected any
definition or box to accurately represent life, and I don't presume to have any more power then anyone else, but I can't help to but see the connections.
When I saw your paintings this weekend, and there was something about the King of Wands that I really connected with. The chess pieces, the concentrated stare, the Hebrew writing, the smirk, the fire in the dark/cold. He seemed to have true understanding, and pure excitement at the fact that he knew what the next move should be. My friend tried to tell me he was evil, while I tried to explain to her that he was good. If I was able to own this painting, I'm pretty sure it would be my prized possession for the rest of my life. I've always wanted to own a piece of artwork that I have an understanding of, something that truly moves me, would be something to cherish.
This painting is special to me because it is of my handsome devil Poul - and I took this photo of him at our first photoshoot and painted the painting soon after in his loft. Ok I see the real Poul every day so it's not so hard to let go after all.... ;)
Now that I'm $2,000 richer should I invest in a new Mac or sink to the level of Windows..? If I go with Windows I can still have enough left over to go shopping... Mmm

Tue, December 11, 2007 - 4:31 AMI wish! I just can't afford the $2500 - so I acquiesced and got a frickin' Windows w/Vista 17" screen for $600 on Black Sunday, whatta deal if I just get beyond Windows little viruses and irritating quirks that don't exist on Mac...
I still have my Mac Laptop going on 6 years old now, in fact I am using it right now while my new Windows sits dormant next to me.
So I'm one of those who swings both ways now, heh. -
