I would like to walk away for good from a former love interest. However, I feel that there is also a soul connection but one not entirely good for me.

You are right this relationship needs to be severed...You do have a karmic connection with this person
and your debt to each other has been cancelled out. You are free to move on.
I cannot speak for him...as to why he needs to hold on.
But YOU need to let go and do not be afraid of your newly found confidence. It will give you strength
to be as Kali...destroying the old to make way for the new. Just make sure you are safe and timing is right.
