Hihi =)
I have a tattoo already on my lower back, and my original intent was that it was the first of two parts. Finances have said SCREW YOU! since I got the first one but I'm still wanting to finish part two, which is the bigger part (full back). What I'm looking for is a) some design help and b) a good, trusted, talented artist in the Harrisburg/Philadelphia PA area. I'm IN Harrisburg but considering what I'm doing, I'm willing to travel a bit to find someone who can do this right.
Help?

Re: Looking for help with custom and finding artist around Harrisburg/Philly
Wed, January 23, 2008 - 4:29 PMWell, I'm in Sacramento, but here's how I found my great artist: I pestered everyone about their tattoos. Whenever I saw a nice tattoo, I asked who had done it, when, and when. I kept hearing certain names over and over, and one guy just got glowing recommendations. I went to see him, and well... it's been tattoo love ever since. So if you don't get a recommendation on here, that's a way to ferret out the good people in your area!

Fri, January 25, 2008 - 12:27 PMI highly recommend Andreana at Supernova Tatto in Queens, NY. She has weekend hours, so you can make an appt in advance & drive in. She did all the beautiful work on my torso & , low back & across my hips (I posted my pics on this site). 718-274-5712, Adsress is 37-12 Ditmars Blvd, Astoria, NY 11105. She does great Japanese work, portraits, pin-up, fantasy work, old-skool tatts & will design especially for you if you you give her an idea of what you are looking for. I hear from people who know tatt's that she is one of the top 5 tatt artist in NY right now. She is awesome.

Re: Looking for help with custom and finding artist around Harrisburg/Philly
Sat, April 12, 2008 - 12:57 AMThere is a woman named Trish at BackStage Tattoo. Its in Atco, NJ right on the white horse pike. She does custom work and freehand stuff. She is excellent and has won tons of awards though they are not all listed on her website.....(which I dont know off the top of my head, google it)
She is funny, and so sweet! She listens and doesnt argue. She is reasonable too. $125 an hour, but she usually goes over time if you make an appointment when she isnt busy. This chick will be the next Kat Von D.

Fri, May 2, 2008 - 4:47 PMShe's not in your area, but Debra from www.hennacrone.com is a fantastic artist. I worked with her over email and phone conversations to develope the design that is my current icon picture (and will soon be my first large tattoo). She is professional, has a great sense of humor and is fun to talk to, and most importantly - she has a phenomenal sense of design and aesthetics. -

Fri, May 2, 2008 - 4:48 PMI guess I should have specified, if you're looking to create a custom design with an artist before going to the tattoo parlor - Deb is great. I didn't realize that you might have been looking for a tattoo artist...!

Re: Looking for help with custom and finding artist around Harrisburg/Philly
Sat, May 3, 2008 - 4:26 AMLots of great advise here. And you've started looking. It takes tons of leg work, and a little luck. A true tattoo artist should be able to take your vision and make it live in your skin. Don't forget to check out the shop itself. You want a clean, 'do it right,' 'good vibe' kind of place.
