I wanted to post here and also invite you to come visit pre-loved gauges because I know we all have those treasures left over after a stretch and I was tired of trying to find a venue to pass them on.
So, here are the earrings (x-posted):

Re: Gauged earrings for sale!
Thu, July 9, 2009 - 3:34 PMI'm not trying to be a party pooper........just wondering if anyone is worried about cooties (germs, bacteria, etc.).....I personally wouldn't wear any pre-loved earrings that hadn't been autoclaved. Are there other ways to sanitize them to make them safe? -

Re: Gauged earrings for sale!
Thu, July 9, 2009 - 3:51 PMHmm.... I've washed mine with Bactine and a toothbrush, then sprayed with H2Oasis. Then either silver cloth or jojoba oil for polish.
I clean all my earrings after I'm done wearing them for the day. Not as vigorous, but definitely with hot water soap and/or H2Oasis. Yuck! That's like not cleaning your $e% toys. hehehe
It would probably be good to do something like this before wearing any earrings pre-loved or just bought.
I think it's important to state how much use they've gotten.
With Metals you can be pretty tough on the cleaning, but the porous Materials you have to be more careful with. -

Re: Gauged earrings for sale!
Thu, July 9, 2009 - 5:07 PMI wonder if barbicide (used to sanitize hairbrushes and combs at salons) could be used on jewelry? I should look at the instructions on a bottle next time I'm at Sallys Beauty Supply. -

Re: Gauged earrings for sale!
Thu, July 9, 2009 - 7:18 PMWhat about an H202 (hydrogen peroxide) soak? I seem to remember doing that when I was a kid. -

Re: Gauged earrings for sale!
Fri, July 10, 2009 - 2:02 AMThat might mess up some of the organic pieces.....Im not sure though. Maybe it would be fine. -

Re: Gauged earrings for sale!
Mon, July 13, 2009 - 9:51 AMTotally feel you on this...the stainless and non-organics can be boiled or steamed (same as autoclave). The organics can be cleaned with a diluted bleach solution, peroxide, or sat out in the sun. Soap and water would do the trick as well. Germs don't embed themselves like that to the best of my knowledge and I've worn plenty of used jewelry with no problems. -
