Heya,

Ive been hooping for jus under a year now and have been asked by tons of people to teach them to hoop so Im in the process of getting my hoopnotica teacher training certification, I have a beautiful venue, and schedule, hoops to buy and borrow, all im missing is STUDENTS!! Any ideas on how to spread the word? I dont know many hoopers in my area. I did a promotional performance today and will be featured in the paper tomorow. I love hooping, since I picked up my hoop its literally freed me and taken over my life. I want so badly to share what Ive learned with others. Anything helps.

thnx much!

I'm one of very few people who have ever heard of hooping in my area. I've found the best way to spread the word about hooping is to get out in public and hoop! People are usually so amazed by what they see that they can't help but ask. If you have some music and some extra hoops lying around, people are bound to want to participate and ask how they can get a hoop and how to learn it. Good luck!

One of the most effective ways that hoop dance spread in my area was when the County Recreation and Parks Org. agreed to put hoop dance on the monthly roster. They found the class location , handled the registration, money, and everything.....the pay was consistent ( you will likely need insurance and CPR cert.) and the word spread like wild fire. Being featured in local news publications was super easy.... It wasn't long before classes were selling out. I am no longer affiliated with my county recs and parks, but the demand is so great now that hoop dance instructors are poppin' up all over...classes fill up almost too quickly. I also highly recommend www.meetup.com. it will cost you about $150 a year to facilitate a group but I fill classes up in no time by using MeetUp.

It's so cool to be part of a blooming hoop community. You will make it blossom and then just watch how fast it grows.

          HoOp LOve and Hope!!!

It will take some time to build up some clientele so don't be discouraged, but I have found the best way to advertise classes and events to be social networks like Facebook (start a group page post status updates offer free hoop jams), Craigslist (free events listings), local newspapers sometimes you can run your class schedule for free if your lucky, pass out flyers and talk to local salon owners and stylists there word of mouth spreads faster than anyone else's in town. Make your flyers attractive and inviting for beginner's, Hoop Class comes to _______, Join the newest Hoop Dance class, Hooping is sweeping the nation, ect. Hook up with a graphic designer and offer them a free hoop or free classes in exchange for cards and flyers. Every little bit you can save will help in the long run since the first year is always the hardest. Good luck!!

            B
