I have heard that when you start doing your shimmys faster and faster sometimes your heels lift off the ground. I have found that when I go faster my heels dig in and I can go faster and have more control. My question is, is this ok or acceptable style?
Thanks

Sat, January 26, 2008 - 5:12 AMYes, it's "acceptable" to keep your heels on the ground. You have more control when more of you is connected to the floor/earth and your center of gravity is lower.

Re: Need advice regarding Egyptian Shmmy
Sun, January 27, 2008 - 8:32 AMKeep in mind that a lot of the Egyptian dancers are shimmying in high heels, too! If hey don't set themselves back on their heels, they are not going to be able to shimmy effectively. So yes, digging in your heels when you go faster and faster is the way to go. -

Re: Need advice regarding Egyptian Shmmy
Sun, February 3, 2008 - 12:11 AMI agree, we were taught to keep our heels on the ground - we weren't allowed to lift them up, so I suppose that's correct!
