Website photo shoot and interviews this week

A photographer and writer from Summer, a new website about interesting people, places, and events in NYC will be at our Wednesday training. So if you have been thinking of coming to our trainings, this would be a great week to do it!

NYC Open Grappling Championships July 29!

Acom-Sports is hosting the OPEN grappling tournament in NYC @ the
fighthouse, located on 122 w 27th street. Registration is only $35
Pre-Registration or $45 at the door. Anyone interested in competing,
call me at 347-432-4024 Ask for Jerry Mendez. Competitors will
compete for Gold and Silver medals. There will also be an Open-
Weight Tournament for the Acom-Sports NYC OPEN GRAPPLING
CHAMPIONSHIP belt. For more info, call or email:

We will be running 3 Rings. 2 Matted areas and one Boxing ring for
the Advanced divisions

There will also be a women's competition, format to be determined by the number of women who register.

SUBMISSION GRAPPLING RULES AND POINTS SYSTEM this will be a no-gi
tournament.

sidemount 2 pts

mount 3 pts

backmount 4 pts

sweep 2pts

Submission attempt 1pt

-SKILL LEVELS-

Beginner: under 1 year of grappling training

intermediate: over 1 year and under 3 years of grappling training

advanced: above 3 years of grappling training

-TIME LIMITS-

Beginners: 4 minutes

intermediate: 5 minutes

Advanced: 6 minutes

-WEIGHT CLASSES-

205 - OVER

185 - 205

170 - 184

155 - 169

154 - 141

140 - UNDER

DATE IS JULY 29TH @ THE FIGHTHOUSE. ALL GRAPPLERS WELCOME.

THIS EVENT IS RANKED BY THE TRI-STATE GRAPPLING LEAGUE. COMPETE AND

Hey there! I recognize these people!!! :-) And i also recognize the hold in that picture too! (A 'scarf hold' aka 'headlock position'). Just for the record...I personally don't reccomend it. If your opponent knows the defense, it's possible (even likely) that she'll manage to escape and take your back, and/or secure a shoulder lock on you. A better idea is to just secure a strong side control position and go for an arm-bar or a choke. In my humble opinion anyway... ;-)

Weekly training time change

Ladies,

A quick reminder that our women's grappling meet/practice will be tonight from 6-7:30 pm.

Note the time change. Due to Fight House's schedule, we will now always be meeting 6-7:30 on Mondays.

Where: Fight House. 122 W 27th street, 2nd floor. btwn 6-7th Ave. Manhattan.
Mat Fee: $15 (all women) / $20 (male companions)

Important Note! Behold: Team Artemis.

We have are pleased to announce the creation of Team Artemis, sister to the Doom Maidens in women's wrestling & grappling.

Team Artemis is our new organization for women's fitness-grappling. Team Artemis runs and manages the weekly grappling & fitness meets we currently hold on Mondays. Team Artemis will be the organizing body for our women's events and fitness-grappling happenings in the future.

While Doom Maidens continues on as the funky nightlife wrestling performance troupe, Team Artemis will grow as a mainstream community group for legitimate grappling, fitness conditioning, and female empowerment.
