One of the most basic of human liberties is the right to own our bodies and make decisions for our own health and safety. We as Americans have always had the power to choose what we do and do not want in our bodies. But the federal government, acting through the Food and Drug Administration, is exerting increasingly more control over the things that should be OUR decisions. The recently published draft guidance from the FDA (the link will be given on the website) proposes that all herbs, vitamins and nutritional supplements (including some foods) be treated as drugs and therefore subject to federal laws concerning prescription medications. The comment period is open through the end of April, so we as citizens still have the opportunity to voice our opinions. It is not yet known whether or not this act could actually become the law, but in the worst case scenario, we must prepare to take action to preserve our right to heal ourselves with the therapy of our choice.

The Temple of Hygieia is a church which is open to all, regardless of faith, religion, or spiritual practice. The foundation of this church is the basic right of human beings to access the foods, herbs, minerals and energetic healing modalities that abound on planet Earth, to support our spiritual work and serve our community in optimal health. Our religion is the direct experience of divine health, which occurs naturally without the intervention of social or political institutions. We reserve the power of choice over our interactions with the established medical system, pharmaceutical industry, and food production complex, and understand these choices as fundamental to our status as independent citizens of the United States of America.

The Temple of Hygieia is now in the process of applying for recognized church status. This tribe will assist the formation of a massive congregation spanning the entire country. There is no limit to the number of ministers, so please contact the moderator if you wish to volunteer to set up ministry in your area. In the event that our country does take a turn for the worst and our basic human rights are threatened, we will be protected under the umbrella of this church and given the power to access, create and administer our own choice of medicine to ourselves and our kin.
