This one was fun, my thanks for what Terrakroma is doing and the vibes they sow is expressed with this little gift for them, some of you have heard this already, but others have not so I thought I'd share.

I've got a wav if anyone wants one, just I won't put up the link since it'll completely kill my bandwidth.

Hope you guys like this, there are subtle nuances and transitions I might not have mastered as my ears are still a little fickle towards the dynamics of psy progressive, but that just means anymore tracks like this will be all the better. I'm really considering pumping out a couple of more tracks like this in the future, maybe I'll start a prog side-project, who wants in on it with me? I'm using FL studio...One definately learn alot of production when sound quality is so critical with these kinds of sounds.

It's a lot harder than you think to sit down in your bedroom and record a mix that reminds you of being in your favorite place.... outside with big speakers and the universe above. This one came out pretty interesting. It jumps right into it, to grab attention because it was for a mix submission for an event...

Enjoy! This one is more on my Techno-Kroma side, although at around 50 minutes it shift gears into a more drippier psychedelic tech.

I lost some jewelry that is really special to me. I was advised to take them off because the hot springs would tarnish them. I wish I hadn't because I would rather have them with me and tarnished than lost and shiny. I'm hoping that someone picked them up and I will see them again. There was a necklace on a gold chain that has a green garnet (my birth stone) wrapped in gold wire. The garnet is a forest green and it's not a cut and polished stone. You could almost compare it to rough malachite. It's about 2 inches long. It's not worth a ton of money or anything but it means a lot to me. It was a gift for my birthday from my best friend. The other items I am missing are 4 earrings. 2 silver pot leaf earrings with abalone set in them. I searched and searched for the perfect pair of pot leaf earrings and I finally found them but now they're gone. They're not worth more than $15 but they were really hard to come across. I'm also missing 1 ice cream cone earring which was given to me spontaneously at Chakra by my friend Celina. The last is a small round moonstone set in a silver Celtic design. If anyone saw these items or happened to pick them up I will love you forever if you got them back to me!!!

I removed the raw clips I put on YouTube after the party last weekend and cobbled a miniature-montage from those 4 clips. I noticed the old clips were linked from the TerraKroma site so that's a dead link now, you gotta update (sorry).

Not much really, but it catches the morning feel with some audio from Spyros and Willy's sets. Loved that shade canopy.

Again, I wish I would have shot more. Could have been a sweet montage with all the cool deco and peoples hanging out. Did Geronimo get much footage? I got a chance to meet him early in the evening and I think I saw him with his cam out a few times. Would be cool to see what he managed to capture. I couldn't stick around long. Would have been hilarious to get the water hose action! ;-P

Reality check on Utopian Dreams

I've recently been noticing a trend that I'm not too sure that I am in accordance with. I have seen that some of the communities that we've all most likely partaken in and enjoyed many afternoons and nights with wonderful beats underneath the sky, have gone in a certain direction in what appears to me as a delusionary utopian world. A world that was created with intended purity, but also with the same hand, a starry-eyed unrealistic realm that only exists in movies like "the beach", and even movies like this, it doesn't last forever. I understand the importance of wanting to always better ourselves and our situations, this is not what I have a problem with, but where I do see a problem is that if there are voices, voices of opposition within some of these groups, they seem to be cast off and shunned away as if they were some sort of diseased leper.

I believe that many times, the same people who try to create a better scene, sometimes get so entranced on what THEY believe to be a more ideal climate, that if other people are not on board or in accordance with it, those with opposed views seem to get heavily chastised for having their own opinion. For me, that is one of the beautiful dynamics that we have of our world, is that we are all unique, we have complex thoughts and that we won't always be in agreement with one another, and that we don't have uniformed views. After all, who wants to be 'another brick in the wall'?

This reminds me of some of my best friends that I have back in Bolivia. We were starting something beautiful back more than 10 years ago, with a fresh new psychedelic trance scene, and everyone wanted to be a part of it. It was something truely beautiful and refreshing and one of the beautiful things that came about of this scene for us, is that many of us lived in a heavy underground Bolivian scene that was loaded with lots of Coca and alcohol. Their was a lot of heavy, unhealthy, negative energy. This was the norm, especially when you consider that we are talking about Bolivia, highest grade stuff in the world at the cheapest price. When the Psy scene came about, many of us turned to a lighter side, a side filled with colors, love, psychedelia, unity and sharing. After a while, I noticed a few things that I found pretty disturbing. I had many friends that didn't fall in love with the scene, and they still did what they did. And I also saw that many of the friends that use to be in the heavier scene now moving into the psy scene, and they were starting to look down upon their old friends and what they did, as if they never "did that sort of thing". It was hypocrisy at it's highest. Sort of reminds me of some of these "born again Christians". They would talk bad about their old friends behind their backs or if we were at one of our gatherings they would pretend to not know or ignore them because maybe they were drunk or just "didn't fit in" . I saw this, and it saddened me greatly. It really did. Because the supposed foundation of the scene was to accept everyone and not judge. And this is exactly what I saw. So behind the colorful attire, and the lovey dovey talk, I saw some of the true colors of many people. I stayed true to my colors, because that's what I felt was right. So by trying to be a "better" person, they did a total 180, but by doing this 180, their views became that of what I thought to be very pretentious and that of what i would consider to be of an elitist.

The reason why I am bringing this up, is that I have been noticing a similar trend in some of the communities, and it reminded me of what I saw many years back. I understand that some of the tribes have rules about maintaining the "sanctity" of their communities, but I have a hard time understanding the critical reprimands that some people have been recieving just for having their own views. The point of all of this for me, is don't forget to 'check yourself' before you pass judgement on anyone else. If you have a friend or someone you know that you feel isn't "fitting in" in your view, don't turn your back or chastise them, be a good person, take the extra time and make them feel a part of what is happening. That's one of the things that being a good friend or person is about.

In the beginning...

Eight years ago it all began with a few djs who wanted to be heard. A few djs who prepared their craft one by one in a small attic in Encino. Their interpretation of the sound was yet to be heard as if waiting for the right moment where it could resonate through the California air. Wyse, Travisty, Luka became more and more skillful at playing the music and made gizmos that would play music when put into a special type of device. These gizmos, Y2K and Electripcity were duplicated and distributed as to promote the sounds they grew to represent. One day while traversing through the land they heard a small tapping on a rock that would not escape their ears. Driven by curiosity Wyse followed the sound until he came across a a spirit who said to him " You who would listen have come here to find what you need to complete your cadre". He pointed to a hole in the ground which supported a ladder. From it whistled fine whips of frequencies that traveled through the air like insects zipping by your ear. It sounded too familiar to him. As he climbed down the ladder the sounds grew more. He turned and he met Kiva, a similar being that was also preparing his craft. The city needed new blood, it needed another voice and with the addition of this kindred soul they were able to begin the process. Green Sector was born and from it came LAs only psychedelic trance store. Which was also needed since very few would listen to the spiritual sounds that the music presented. As the years passed Luka returned to his family to walk among the spirits. His part in the creation and his musical legacy will never be forgotten.

Together Green Sector made ceremonies and invited people from all lands to celebrate life. The ceremonies were growing and the music had yet another voice in California from which to be heard. A few years after other djs felt and saw what was swelling in the horizon and grabbed their musical flutes and blew the frequencies in unison showing their allegiance to the cause. All of them very skillful at presenting the sounds, all of them carrying a unique ability. Tribes from all over played in unison keeping the spirit alive in a city full of obstacles. And the community grew to what it is today. A swarming dervish of freaks travelers dwellers and Fairies. All dancing for LIFE for personal FREEDOM of the soul. 8 years have passed and our vibration on the earth grows stronger and louder echoing through the cosmos.

I know that there were at least two or three photographers wielding cameras with big scary lenses taking many a photo of my work, and sadly, I don't have any pix of anyone that I painted! (I'm cryin' me a river...)

It’s been a dream of ours to have Antix play for us and now it’s going to become a reality. First ever appearance in Los Angeles, Terrakroma is extremely excited to have Antix perform a live and dj set Saturday, November 17th 2007. If you havn’t seen the brothers Strom ever play live before, then you will be in for a real treat seeing one of the great old skoolers of Progg do there thang!! Not only are we lucky to have Antix play their live and dj set, but Bluetech will also perform one of his incredible, groovy and extremely psychedelic live sets in the Downtempo stage and also perform his newest project Evan Mark, really nice, groovy progressive tech. If you didn’t get to see Bluetech play at symbiosis this year, then you should definitely check out his music, and if you did see him, then you know what’s up!

Not only are we lucky to have Antix and Bluetech perform for everyone, we are blessed to have Kiva and Manny from Greensector, and Dai from Psytribe join in on the fun, who are respectively some of our favorite djs in progressive psychedelic and Downtempo in the west coast. And a super surprise appearance  from Trevor Wyse (Greensector), one of the main staples in the California psy scene over the past 10 years who will also share some of his Downtempo magic. Also of course our resident dj’s Armando, Gabriel and Andrew (Earthbag) who just simply love to love to play their diverse progressive sounds for everyone.

New Zealand brothers Barton and Hayden Strom aka Antix have been producing a sublimely deep minimal groove that has been rocking dance floors accross the globe far and wide. Iboga Records in Denmark got whiff of the Antix sound and promptly signed the two brothers who then produced their landmark debut album “Lull” in 2003 and a couple years later created there second gem of an album “Twin Coast Discovery” both became landmarks on the progressive scene with top notch reviews and support from leading Dj's and fans alike.
Shortly after, Twin Coast Discovery was re-rubbed by a selection of the finest dance floor hooligans and the remix album contains seven remarkable re-edits from the likes of progressive wonder duo D-Nox and Frank Beckers (Vapour, Polaroid), Fitalic (Bedrock) and label mates Freq, Phony Orphants, Sun Control Species, Ohrsten Nors as well a bonus track by the brothers under their alter ego Fiord.
The brothers are aiming to raise the bar even higher this year, with another Antix studio album titled “Wanderers” due in June. The boys always evolving, have taken their sound to the next level, keeping to their Antix roots of deep atmospheres, infectious bass and minimal grooves but this time with a hint of old skool flavor and unleashing a new level of production.

Bluetech

A classically trained pianist and master of the art of software production. Bluetech's love of the melodic and exquisite sense of sound design makes him one of the most ingenius producers today. Bluetech's sound emerges from his custom-built Reaktor instruments and software based synthesisers as a primordial electro-dub alchemy. While encompassing musical touches from different parts of the globe, he presents a total blend, crossing genres and borders.
Bluetech has created a label called Native State Records to release his own music and music from other artists who cross boundaries between ambient/chill and more idm/experimental sounds. Not content to stay at home, Bluetech has toured extensively and performed in Japan, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Croatia, France, Denmark, Mexico, United States, and Canada.
Bluetech has released two albums on Aleph Zero Records, an internationally acclaimed chill label run by recording artist Shulman, and is currently working on a third for release in 2008. Aleph Zero brought Bluetech's music to the attention of the international chill audience, and helped to launch his career worldwide through strong support and beautiful packaging. Evan Marc (bluetech)

Progressive Tech project from downtempo producer Bluetech. Melodic and dub influenced music with a focus on dancefloor usability and emotional development. Kiva

DJ/Producer and one of the original members of Green Sector, Kiva is recognized to be one of the most prolific psychedelic dj’s in LA. He began collecting and playing trance music in 1997 and has an intimate knowledge of the history and spirit of the sound. His years of experience conjure intuitive mixes combined with impeccable track selection which produce a powerful experience. Kiva has shared the stage with almost every trance artist of note since he began his dj career in 1999. Playing at outdoor events such as Earthdance, Symbiosis Gathering, Moontribe, Burning Man Festival, and numerous indoor shows in the LA area. His future plans include producing more of his own music and continuing to rock dance floors across America and beyond...

Trevor

Trevor Wyse is the core organizer for Green Sector Events in Southern California. He began Dj’ing in 1996 and opened the first exclusively Psychedelic Electronic music store in Los Angeles in 1999. During these years he began producing outdoor and indoor multi-genre electronic music events under the Green Sector name. He has also co-produced and hosted stages at events such as Earthdance, LA Burning Man Decompression, and the Symbiosis Festival in Northern California. Green Sector has evolved into a tight nit group of Artists, Dj’s, Graphic Designers, and Craftsmen. Trevor is the head organizer and PR/Promotion part of the Team. He is also the vice president of the non-profit Musical Heritage Foundation, LLC. This organization is based out of their private outdoor location known as Gold Creek Ranch. This site has been home to scores of outdoor events of all types, attracting thousands of people from around the country and the world since the 1970’s. Trevor’s future plans include hosting more multi-day events and carrying the Green Sector light to other large festivals around the U.S.

Dai

Dai comes from the country of the rising sun and has been known to bring fresh energy to the dancefloor. Dai is from the psytribe family, and many would agree, one of his main characteristics that he is known for is his versatility in psychedelic music. He can rip it up with his night neurotrance style or he can get ya stompin to his groovy psychedelic progressive mixes. Known also for his flawless mixing, allowing him to create an animated story in the set. He has been playing at many parties, mainly in the USA (Burning man, Psytribe, Green Sector, Heavy Rotation) and Mexico (5th element, and PlurFM events) and now is producing and focusing on creating intelligent and twisted psytrance under the name Cognoscenti.

Manny

Manny was born and raised in Brazil and quickly found the LA psychedelic scene, and so with his mentor and friend Trevor Wyse he found his direction. Manny became a Green Sector resident in 2002 and has DJ’d downtempo at every event since. Playing along side producers such as bluetech, sphongle, ott, waterjuice, pitch black and many more. Today, with his refined taste and years of collecting, Manny is an absolute joy to see and hear and has been all across the West Coast this summer sharing his sounds. Selecting from all genre’s, he presents a full range of mid and down tempo music for your listening and dancing and funking pleasure….

Armando ( TerraKroma)

Armando comes straight from Cochabamba Bolivia, where he’s played in many events, hypnotizing people with his progressive grooves since 2000. Armando is one of the co-founders of Moontravelers organization, which has been one of the biggest festival organizers in Bolivia, touring around the country and helping start the engine that pushed the electronic scene in his country. All ready helping establish the rock solid psychedelic foundation in Bolivia, 2005 Armando moved out to California, and helped formed TerraKroma and now he is ready to release his first album on monobeat records along with Andrew (Earth Bag).

EarthBag (TerraKroma)

It's been two years since Andrew Schiavone (earth bag) tranceplanted himself from the east coast to now out to the west coast in california, where he has been playing live sets and djing since 2002. Armed with a great knowledge of audio engineering and production, he started up Monobeat Records, and now is one of the co-founders of Terrakroma. His music has evolved in many ways spanning time, as the grooves shifted, the progressive world came front in center in his sets.

Gabriel Valda (TerraKroma)

First off, i want to say what a fantastic track selection that Vasili chose for his mix. I loved it, some tracks that i've never heard before, and I've heard a lot :P ...... Great Grooves, good power, well made. The mix was as smooth as his track selection. I love the way the mix starts with the Zion in mad track, fantastic and the behind blue eyes track to follow up is a track that I'm really diggin right now :))).

And your track Vasili - Suslufi , is a kickass track, great stuff man, and Dai's - Downunder sounds like it was influenced from dem boyz downunder, definitely got that zenon feel to it.

I really enjoyed this mix. :)

What a Fantastic Party!

The Antix + Bluetech party was amazing. It has been such an honor to work with this crew of creative and unique individuals.
The level of detail emeshed in the deco was so rich and different from what I'm used to seeing. I enjoyed seeing how the theme
pulled itself together through the separate works of many highly talented artists. I'm amazed still by the amount of time these
kids are willing to invest to carry an idea through to fruition. Well done my friends! You are truly bringing a fresh energy to
the scene. It was also pleasing to see the collaboration with my long time favorite Greensector crew, as they have been a steady
force in the scene for many years. The decision to bring in Antix was a dream which was actualized this past weekend, and did they
deliver! It has been so long since a live act has blown me away. These brothers rocked the dance floor for hours and left my head reeling.
I would love to see them again, as their performance did not dissapoint. Evan Bluetech was amazing as always, and it was obvious
the chill room had more love put into it's creation this time. Thanks to everyone who put in their effort and brought such
amazing energy to this event. Terrakroma; your parties rock my world! Keep up the great work, you guys and girls are the greatest!

My summer 2007 schedule was crazy hectic, filled with gigs and gatherings all over Western North America. The event which was the finale was the Symbiosis Gathering in California in September, and this mix reflects a portion of the Sons of Aurora set I played with my partner Norris. The gathering was one of the highlights of my summer and these particular tracks are for me a portal back to that amazing weekend up in the mountains East of San Francisco. The fact that they are all off of the same three labels goes to show that I am a big fan of what Flow, Blue Tunes and Iboga records are up to these days.

This mix is a short one due to the one hour time allowance as it will was featured on Wes Straub's new online radio show 709 Sessions which can be found at: http://www.tribalmixes.org .
