The Spinsterz Ultra-Light 4 Piece Collapsible Fire Hoops

Its been a little while since I have posted or had new offerings and thats because I have been busy designing and playing with new and improved toys!

I am now offering both fire and non fire hoops in 4 piece collapsible versions, for those of you that want an even more compact travel hoop. It is still as strong and rigid as the 3 piece collapsible versions, and the extra joint only adds less than 1 oz of weight..

Both the 3 piece and 4 piece hoops are now available in my Ultra-Light model.
The Ultra-Light is weighing in with 6 small wicks attached at 1.15 pounds for the 3 piece version just under 1.3 pounds for the 4-Piece.

Custom fire fans made to order! We are now building custom fire fans in aluminum and steel. These are 100% original fans and will not be replicated for anyone else. These are one of a kind fire fans designed by you.

We will build to your designs, just sketch your ideas out full size on a piece of paper and send it to us via snail mail or a scanned image. Alternatively you can send a graphic file that has the exact dimensions you want. We can Quote any project and discuss all you crazy ideas. Almost anything is possible. However, some designs will not be possible in aluminum since it is a slightly more malleable material.

Beginning cost for a set of fire fans will run about $125 or more.

Cool new glow poi

I just created a new version of glow poi. They are similar in shape and function to the OGGZ, except that these are battery operated instead of rechargeable. The cool thing about them is that as the Egg is morphing through its colors, you can hit a button and stop it on the color you like, then hit the button again and it will continue is morphing cycle!

The Spinsterz is now offering two more styles of fire poi.

Egg Poi (http://www.thespinsterz.com/eggpoi.htm)

Egg Poi are very similar to the Monkey Fist style, but the Egg Poi have a larger surface area and thus allows for a longer burn time and larger flame.

Monkey Fist Poi (http://www.thespinsterz.com/monkeyfist.htm)

Monkey Fist Poi are made by tying multiple monkey fist knots one inside the other to create a full rope core poi head. Monkey fists are a little more aerodynamic than cathedral heads and provide a longer burn time.

A fire hoop in time for Burning Man?

I'm a little desperate!

My homemade fire hoop broke this weekend and now I need a new one in time for Burning Man.
I'm gonna be on the conclave with the NY fire group (NYC Sparkwork).
I have played with a Spinsterz fire hoop and I love it!!
I leave from Philladelphia on August 16th.

I don't want to just order it from the website, because I want mine to be a little different than you have there. I already sent an email to marley@thespinsterz.com, but haven't heard anything yet...I know you guys are traveling around this Summer.

Please, anyone, help!

unfortunate events

It looks like I have to shut down my online store for a while. I had someone shipping all the products for my online business while I am vending at festivals this summer, but that person is no longer able to help me out with this. Since I am leaving on Monday for the next two month vending tour, I am not able to get someone trained in time to fill this position. I really wish I could figure something out, but I just don't think there is enough time.

I am still offering some products for sale on my website, namely those that other companies can ship drop ship for me. I am determined to at least be able to still ship out my fire hoops this summer and will hopefully get this figured out before Monday.

So I guess if you want some of our props you will just have to come and find us at one of the festivals. Here is where we are off to next:

SO much to tell you all, where to start. Our summer vending tour has been great so far and we have met so many wonderful people and got to spin and play with some very talented folks. We are currently getting ready to go out east for two events, Wakarusa and Bonnaroo. After that we are headed back this way for lots for festivals up and down California and Oregon.

the voyage.............

I just thought I would let everyone out there know a little about our trip that we just got back from.....
We(myself,Brandon,Shireen,and Lia) left 2 weeks ago,all of us together, piled up in our kick-ass van named Scarlett, with a BUNCH of crap loaded in the poor van! Our trailer rocked by the way! Our yurt, ladder,poles, other random stuff such as the fire gear that wouldn't fit in the van was all piled up sky high on the trusty trailer that Dale built, thanks Dale!!! Just imagine driving and right behind you in the drivers seat are, oh about 5 or 6 staffs, and yes they smelled a bit like white gas, what an amazing way to drive ;)
About 40 or more hula hoops stuffed in a giant overhead compartment(thankyou collapsible hoops) also filled with Shireen's beautiful poi AND a 50 yes 50 pound bag of millet(for the poi). Just by this description it sounds like an extremely paked van. It was, but wait we still hadn't picked Lia up yet! Oh god, and we needed groceries! To say the least we looked like a clown van. Perfect sice we are kinda like that anyway!
We drove towards Ashland and we realized how hungry we were and we all know Ashland would have good places to eat, so we found a great co-op and filled up on the staples,YUM! Then we thought we should just camp here too, but where? So we asked around and we ended up at Jackson Wellspring. I Love this place so much!!! For practically nothing we camped out got to soak till our hearts content in the wonderful healing mineral waters under a FULL moon! A FULL MOON! We got to relax in the awesome warmth of the sauna and made a wonderful dinner. That was so perfect, we will always go back there!
Time to drive again and off to CA we go!
Fire drums was up,up,up in the redwoods! So beautiful. We are the luckiest folks to be able to play among the giants and witness some of the best fire performance I have ever seen! Can you say triple staffs!!!!??? I saw that,and was in "ah" over what people can do with fire! I have never seen such a monsterous fire circle. At one point there were 19 at once spinning fire, I didn't know where to look first! I am so thankful for Shireen during one afternoon because she randomly got chosen to teach a workshop and I actually learned some great poi moves! She's great! we also got to play with flow wands in the hot Cali sun, WHOOPEE! I love those things, and to see it on fire later that night, AMAZING!
Then after all that fun, we still had more to do, lightning in a bottle here we come! The beach first though! We had 3 days to play at Jalama beach outside of Santa Barbara. We played with fire in front of mother ocean and Lia and I combed the best beach ever for the prettiest shells! I love our "jobs"
We drove off after those 3 days to LIB hoping only for more fun stuff! We set up the booth and our camp and started meeting people,seeing music,watching the insanity that ensues as a festival starts to fill up! We were amazed at how well our booth went over! We made great contacts, taught a lot of hoops and poi to people of all ages, and ate Alot. We saw Freq Nasty(finally) which was amazing and of coursr Bassnectar!! I think Lia had the most energy of all the folks there waiting to see her favorite(bassnectar). She got to right up front, there was no way by the time I got there for that to happen for me,lucky her! I danced enough for awhile! Until next time that is!
I almost forgot to mention that our "hoopoi" wagon was a huge success and was all lit up and kick-ass everynight. we drew a crowd wherever we went!
I loved the whole trip and could not have asked for 3 better people to go on "the Voyage" with. we all are better friends and are definetely going to never forget the" handstand on the beach" HAHAHA:)
After our next voyage we will post more about our trips, please stay tuned for more.............

I got my new custom fire hoop yesterday. I love It! I really recommend these hoops. I couldn't go to bed because all I wanted to do was play with my new hoop. I love love love it. I love my LED hoop

I posted a photo of me hooping at the Washington Monument with my Spinsterz hoop -- its debut. It's fabulous! It handles about the same as my Betty hoop -- a little lighter, but not enough to throw me off (I'm a pretty new hoopster) -- and the lights look wonderful. Yay!

Collapsible Hoop Bags

Introducing some very nice bags to carry your collapsible hoop in. They are hand dyed and made from a blend of Hemp and Cotton and come with either 3 pockets, for carrying your fire hoop spines or 1 pocket for whatever you want. There is an adjustable shoulder strap so that short and tall people will all be able to wear them comfortably.
The 3 pocket version is $55 and the 1 pocket version is $35. I haven't had a chance to get them on my site yet, but I have posted some pics of them here.
What you see is what I got, I will have more to choose from by the end of the month, so get yours before all my friends do!

Summer Tour

We are going on tour...wahooo! We are packing up shop and hitting the road for most of the summer, vending at music festivals pretty much all summer long. We have plans to be on the road all the way through Halloween. We are starting our tour off at Fire Drums and then to Lightning in a Bottle.....I can't wait for this one......and then head east for a month. Thanks to the help of a great friend we are going to be able to keep our online sales going for the duration of the summer. Shipping times may slow down a little bit, email correspondance will not be as prompt, but other than that it is business as usual.

First time with Fire

I am a hoop dancer from Long Beach, California. I have been hoop dancing for one year. Last Saturday, I took my first fire hooping class taught by Gypsyhoop, in my own back yard. My fire hoop is Brandon's collapsable hoop. The hoop lit up with quite a lot of flame and I was intimidated. Once I got it on, I did quite well and did all the tricks I thought were safe. I got a lot of good feedback for my first time. I'll post a photo when I get one. Next lesson is this Sunday.

I thought Brandon's hoop was a very good weight and size. It looks cool and I look cool in it. I highly recommend it.

I just got our line of fire hoops made that will always be available and in stock. We are now making 5 standard fire hoop designs, available in both a rigid and collapsible version. The sizes will also become standardized after these next few sell. I am thinking of making them about 39.5".

Fire Hoop Workshop

Have you ever wanted to light your hoop on fire? Now is your chance! Brandon from The Spinsterz will be offering a fire hoop workshop on sunday February 18th. In this workshop you will learn the fundamentals of playing with a fire hoop and how it is different from regular hooping.

You will learn about fire safety and what clothes and materials are safest to use while working with fire. Everyone will have a chance to be a fire safety and learn proper techniques and use of tools to perform the job safely. You will learn about the different fuels available for use and how they act and perform differently.

You will learn how to adapt the tricks you already know and learn some new tricks to do with a fire hoop as well. Everyone will get a chance to light up and spin a fire hoop as many times as they wish! After the workshop there will also be an open forum spin jam for anyone who is interested in playing with some more fire!

Fire hoops, fuel and safety equipment will all be provided by The Spinsterz. If you have your own fire hoop, please feel free to bring it with you. If you would like to purchase one of our fire hoops, your workshop fee will be put towards the cost of your new hoop.

The workshop will take place at The Spinsterz house located in Sandy Oregon, about 40 min. from downtown Portland (Directions.) Sunday February 18th, 6:30 PM. Workshop should last about 2 hours or until everyone has spun the hoop at least once.

Trip to Thailand

I am going to Thailand to teach hooping and poi for a couple weeks in January at The Magic Gardens on Koh Chang (www.magicgardenthailand.com/ ). I will be shutting down the business from the 2nd of January until the 1st of February. If you want to get some product befoe I leave, try to get your order in as quickly as possible. The website will stay open and you can still place orders, but they will not be shipped out until the 1st.

I am going to try and keep and updated blog with pictures and hooping videos while I travel. I will hopefully also be meeting up with Nick Woolsey to learn and play with poi.

Fire hoops

Ok, after many months of testing and designing my fire hoops are finally ready. I just posted a few pics of them. They will go on sale this friday, I should have about 5 to start, with more coming as fast as I can build them.

The fire hoops feature detachable memory wire spines, so that when the hoop hits the ground the spine will bend and absord the force of the impact, then just magically bend back to its straight position. The hoops will also be available in collapsible versions. They will break down into three sections for ease of travel.

Non-Collapsible fire hoops will cost $135
Collapsible ones are $150

Fire Jam at The Spinsterz House

We are having a fire jam at our house this saturday night starting around 7ish. Zan and Noah from "Instuments of the Now" are in town and Zan is teaching a workshop in Portland earlier that day. They will be coming out to our place and hopefully most of the class will as well. . We are unfortunately lacking a sound system, (but we are working on getting one) so bring any musical instuments if you have them and don't forget your fire toys.

Sandy is about 45 minutes east of Portland on hwy 26. We will be out here all day and night so come whenever you can. Lets all hope for clear skies as rain and fire don't get along so well.

San Fran Love Fest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We went to the Love Fest this past weekend in San Francisco! Oh sooo fun! We met some really cool people, that were dressed up in great costumes in all kinds of colors. Everyone was so stoked on the new "Hoopoi" wagon that we debuted at the fest, we got such a great response from everyone that we came in contact with! We hulahooped with sooo many wonderful souls,some brand new hoopers, others, seasoned professionals! I think that we will have to take our wagon back to the parade again next year! It was a great time that I don't want to miss again,EVER!!! We got a lot of comments on Brandon's fire poi, and sold out of them real quick! Thank you San Fran for welcoming The Spinsterz and our" Hoopoi" wagon!
