The Canes Club

public - created 10/03/06
A tribe for those with a penchant for all things Victorian. Top hats, corsets, snuff-boxes, Drawing rooms, Charles Dickens, but most especially for Canes and walking-sticks. For the puposes of this tribe, Canes and walking sticks feature as the centre of this Victorian milieu.

This is a tribe for collectors of canes, cane-makers, and cane users. Canes and walking sticks may be used as an ambulatory aid, or as a fashion accessory. Along with Canes and walking sticks, crops, whips, sjamboks, cudgels and clubs may also be discussed.

Canes are used for the exotic art of bellydancing from the orient, a subject which is also of interest to us. In fact, Canes themselves seem to have an origin in the sands of Ancient AEgypt.

We have found that Canes are also useful in the Victorian martial art of 'Bartitsu' for self-defence, practiced by none other than that great detective Shelock Holmes. Not to mention the system of 'La Canne' devised by Professor Vigny from the fighting methods of 'Les Savauges' street-gangs of Paris and London.

We shall also investigate the lighter canes as they apply to the administration of corporeal punishment of BDSM. Corsets, caning, flogging, and the relationship between Master and servant shall be examined here.

Canes, Shillelaghs, Walking sticks, Sword canes, Gadget/ System Canes, as well as Staffs are discussed here. We shall also be looking at crops, whips, sjamboks, as well as other sticks and cudgels.
