Re: music ends at midnight?
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 11:40 PMSanta Barbara sound ordinance. Thank the frat boys on your way through town. Warning: you might have to do a keg stand to get past them.
Actually though its kinda cool. In a weird way. Makes everyone hang out and interact a lot more. Its like your all pumped up from the beats and then go frolic with the freqs. I actually think it works out just fine. -

Re: music ends at midnight?
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 7:32 PMI have a question about "amplified sound"
What does that mean really ? and, is there anyone that is designated to enforce that policy this year ?
Last year there were two camps within 20 feet of ours, that showed up with " way to fucking loud sound STILL blasting at 5 am "..... which I would be willing to gladly ignore if :
A - there were actual real people dancing and or enjoying the sound... or at least a single person upright other than the DJ.
B - there was some sort of respect when asked twice to turn it down a little....
C - if it were fairly close to any one of the designated sound stages, where people that like big sound would camp ( ie * 10 and 2 o'clock )
D - there were enough crank to pass around so everybody could stay up for 4 days without sleep...
E - any of the above
Don't get me wrong, I like to get my groove on, but when there is no place to get away from it all, and chill for a bit, it become like in your face mass media advertising and we all know how much fun that is....
The grounds are big enough for everybody to enjoy, as long as there are areas that are assigned as, or generally recognized as " wake the fuck up " or "last man standing" & " dude! were gonna fucking rock this place man " zones... and not scattered among those that like to sleep for a bit every few days..... -

Re: music ends at midnight?
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 8:50 PMyeah we had a camp that played ALL night long EVERY night even without people around very close to us.
thank god for earplugs, noise canceling headphones and ambien.
we never complained even though several camp members never slept at night at all.
i hope people are more respectful this year. -

Re: music ends at midnight?
Fri, May 16, 2008 - 10:06 PMlast year I camped in an area that was a lot more quiet.... I didn't have sound problems at all.... I thought there were designated quiet zones.... but maybe I was just lucky ...maybe both(?) -
