Lapis Lazuli

What a beautiful morning and day it is today. This week finds us with optimism but there is much that seems to shadow this feeling, cloud our minds and tries to lock down our soul. When we see this happening we must realize we are the great liberator because we have been created with the power of choice. If we see something not working internally, within our network of close friends or even the world at large we can take the steps to remedy a situation for the highest good. What needs to be done first is cut through the fears and fog in order to see clearly and know which way we need to go in order to make the choices best for us and the collective at large. How do we do this? We know what its like to drive through fog at night. The car flies through the grey dense air but we have to be careful for we do not know what is coming up ahead until its practically on top of us. If we decided to turn on the high beams in order to make things clearer it in fact has the opposite affect and we lose sight of our direction. When we tap into the energy of the lapis we are able to direct a slight beam through all the muck and emerge at the shore and our destination.

Lapis is found many countries around the world and is know as the stone of enlightenment and protection. It harmonizes our being and cuts through the subconscious blockages. This stone activates the throat, third eye, stimulates brain activity and clarity of thought. It makes us turn inward in order to realize our inner resources to amplify creative expression without limits. It has us integrate our truth while allowing unreleased fears to surface and be communicated. For when we hold onto these feelings they mutate and fester to provide a unhealthy energetic and physical body. As we open up our internal universe we can express it to the external we strengthen our relationships and honor the true power of Oneness.

The summer has been slowly creeping up on us and before we know we are only three weeks away from Elysium Midsummer Festival ’09 (with summer solstice falling on the same weekend of June 19-21st). This year we are back to La Jolla Indian Reservation again ( www.lajollaindians.com/Campground/) - it proved to be such a magical spot for all of us!

If you have not joined our family yet we would love to see you there, really… dancing your soul out to some amazingly talented DJs (like Oscure, Braden, Yona, Pod, and Cervntes just to name a few), or getting your senses aroused by interactive performance of Unifier in collaboration with various stunningly talented musicians, chanters, and performers (bring blankets and water- this one is going to be FUN!), or getting your groove on to the rhythms and jazzy twists of Helios Jive at the acoustic stage…. or enjoying yourself watching Matias Mahia painting UV activated tapestry that comes to life in front of your very eyes, or just taking a morning yoga class in the shade of Healysium Lounge! ** Mushroom Toadstool Building Party, <Episode 2> **

When: Saturday, June 6th, starting at 12:00pm

Where: Base Mechanic Shop, 30th Place, 92102 (30th and G place)

This Saturday, June 6th, starting at 12:00pm come hang out with us at Base Mechanic Shop (formerly known as Liquid-O compound) drink some cervesas, enjoy some good tunes, and eat some hearty BBQ, all whilst creating your very own mushroom toadstool! (All materials will be provided, although if you feel so inspired as to bring your own flare we would love to see your creation! )
We are also looking for donations of various stuffing materials, for example: old pillows, soft fabric scraps or foam. If you have any of these just cluttering space in your crafts area or your garage this is yet one more way you can recycle your old stuff into something new and useful!

A Little Something about them rulezzzz……

We would like to take this opportunity to kindly ask you not to bring any glass containers on the premises of the event, it is strictly forbidden by the rules of the La Jolla Indians’ Tribe land that we are using for our celebration. We would like to continue in the spirit of respectful collaboration with the tribe, so we ask you to honor this rule.

(Violator’s bottles will be removed from site (along with the owner if necessary), so please spread the word and make sure all your friends know about our NO GLASS policy!)

Gate Operation:

Gates Open at NOON (12:00pm) on Friday, June 19th for general admission. Please arrive on or after that time- we would be pained to watch you sit at the entrance for hours!

Camping Info:

There will be NO CAR PARKING/CAR CAMPING in The Village (area 7 where Main stage, Bazzar, Acoustic stage, Healysium, Art Creation station, and Mushroom Café are located) with the exceptions of a few staff and performers’ vehicles that were pre-arranged with Matty Lust ("Matthew Lust" metienturkish@hotmail.com )

Car Camping/Car Parking will be permitted in The Burbs (Area 6). All vehicles will be parked in this area, but worry NOT- Security will be provided for both The Village and The Burbs.

Bazaar Vending:

There will be 15-20 various local artists sharing their creations with our community at Elysium this year. So be prepared and bring some extra cash should something crafty catch your eye. However, if that dollar in your wallet is crying for company and there are some dust balls in your wallet, some artists in the community have been known to trade in some cases for goods, services, and labor.

Did you know Create:Fixate accepts submission all year round?

Create:Fixate judges art on talent only. We request a minimum of 10 images from each artist. For quick submissions, you can email jpgs that are 72 dpi to 120 dpi or your website link. Please include a short paragraph about yourself as well as information explaining the medium/media of your artwork.

To submit a portfolio, please email us to make special arrangements.

Please allow up to 8 weeks for a response depending on the timing of your submission. Even though we accept submissions on a rolling basis, we only review art work once every 2 months.

DoLab Canceling LIB - The Truth

Dearest DoLab,

I do not know the full story about why the DoLab has chosen to leave LiveOak Camp grounds. I am certain that the business decision was not caused by the squirel problem, or the few folks who stepped into gopher holes, as these things did not stop the event before. No, the DoLab said that the reason was LIB attendance had outgrown the LiveOak Camp grounds attendance capacity. When an entertainment provider has limited seating capacity, authentic businesses control the problem by terminating ticket sales, --not canceling the show.

We are a family, we are YOUR family, at least that's the sales pitch when convenient. We are you customer, I am your customer...you are cancelling an annual event because you are unwiling to make the hard decision to send additional $$ away. That's the truth.

At the various camping pahtays (LIB & Base-Station) and recent decoms where I presented my electro-optical tech-art, people asked how I make my flashy-blinkies and EL wire art-signs. Well now you too can learn how to make some of those kewl things ya see at Burning Man!!

On January Saturday 24th, 12:01pm - about 7nish, I invite all who are interested in embracing mystic-grooves, incense and sipping herbal tea while we together learn how to properly scorch LEDs and fashion EL wire flashies into Burning Man art.

We will discuss LEDs, how they work, how to use them and how to solder them, then we will get into EL Wire for the remainder of the party.

Please RSVP via tribe or call for both directions and a small list of items needed for the 'party'. This is strictly for fun, nothing is for sale.

THE ENERGY BEHIND ENLIGHTENMENT

Most people use ten percent or less of the Brain. Through the awakening of Kundalina energy the brain can organically evolve to a higher performance. No time has been spent investigating perhaps the most powerful energy of nature. Religious experience and its root.

Kundalini is the evolutionary potency in all humans. A fundamental bioenergy. It comes from an Indian word meaning “to join the soul with the cosmic soul,” In the ancient Indian language Sanskrit it is a term referring to a coiled force or energy originating at the base of the spine, and seated near the sex organs a coiled up sleeping snake. Implies latent energy or potential to expand. Serpent Power when activated travels up the seven chakras which are the nerve centers along the spinal cord and enlightens the mind. Expanding consciousness the nirvana of Buddha. It is responsible for human evolution and all-psychic abilities genius and spiritual illumination. Kundalini is the biological way to expand the mind.

Kundalini is the “secret” behind yoga and all other esoteric psychology’s and genuine occult mysteries. A scientifically measurable biochemical essence Kundalini is the substance that is the nourishment of consciousness. It penetrates the nervous system and influences the nerves to become the instrument of higher consciousness. This subtle substance is a snake-like force that fuels the mind in order to sustain a more active state, producing an awakened Kundalini individual, Note: snakes have two hemi penises and the power to hypnotize.

Such inner power is represented by the two snakes on King Tut’s headdress and the feathered serpent of Mexico and South America, The serpent in the Garden of Eden. The upward flow of Kundalini nectar (prana force, bioplasmic stream) is concentrated in the reproductive fluids of both men and women. When Kundalini is activated a reverse action takes place, feeding the center of the brain. “cavity of Brahma” in the brain’s ventricular cavity. Kundalini is the power that controls it. All great saints’’ mystics’ poets and people of genius, as well as the insane were influenced in this way.

If an experiment were performed it would prove the existence of the Kundalini force and show its physiological effects on the body. It could bridge the gap between science and mysticism and show the essential truth of religious experience and tradition. Religion has always been a companion of humanity. Religion came to guide humanity. No scientist could doubt the reality of this phenomenon once it has been observed and measured.. Such an experiment would uncover the vale of darkness and delusion under which humanity has been living. This evolutionary force needs publicity and actual proof would provide it. The results will speak for themselves. It will be a discovery more important than anything that has preceded it.

It is only from an awakened perspective that such observation can be made and this potential lies within everyone. As humanity evolved from cave men to the United Nations it becomes inevitable that this discovery will come to light and that there is indeed a purpose. A planned creation to our being. God protects our blue-green planet earth from the inferno of intergalactic space. Why? Because humanity has to attain to other states of consciousness for which all these recourses are needed to do this. We have been granted an intelligence to make the best use of it.

Life’s purpose and evolution’s power lead to cosmic laws, which must be obeyed for nature’s divine grace within us all to come to light. These laws as spoken of in all religions occult and mystical beliefs describe a path to enlightenment. As great empires have come and gone, so too must humanity’s faiths change.

My teacher, the late Pundit Gopi Krishna, an Indian Yogi-scientist and world renowned expert of Kundalini who has written over twenty books on the subject states, “We all know what happened whenever a political system became despotic and oppressive, a social system exacting and corrupt, and a religious system excessively authoritarian and dogmatic. There arose a demand for revision and reform. Political revolutionaries, reformers and prophets appeared on the scene, The old system was overthrown often with dreadful bloodshed, suffering and pain and a new one installed in its place. We have to cooperate with inner evolution.”

What is needed for a more positive harmonic peaceful and prosperous existence is a fuller understanding of humanity’s need for god. As society accelerates the brain must work increasingly beyond the point of balance. We are giants of intellect and dwarfs of the spiritual. We give no time to the spirit. Bringing on grave consequences. Gopi Krishna says. “ We have given too much emphasis to the material side of life at the cost of the spiritual side.” Time must be set aside for prayer, meditation, yoga or some other spiritual act in order to keep life’s evolutionary needs in balance and maintain inner sanity. Yoga meditation provides a channel for the opening of a powerful energy (inspiration) which can enable anyone to blossom into a genius, an artist, a poet, a mystic.

If this force awakens in an impure or out of balance form it can result in evil genius fanaticism delusions of grandeur, or mental illness (like manic depression and schizophrenia). There is a lot that is not understood that kundalini research will explain.

The brain is subject to the influence of countless factors connected with the life environment and the family history of an individual. When even slightly tainted or stained do to the pressure of reality or various causes such as wrong mode of life, unhealthy environment, faulty heredity, shock, frustration, repression, tension and numerous other factors. If the mind is abnormal the brain too must be a shareholder in the abnormality. There are subtle changes in some neuronic structures in the cranium. The real root of the abnormality is an impure or toxic condition of the prana. If you do not live a disciplined life then the awakening of this center can be unhealthy. A distorted vision of the same power. It means that the system is not pure and that the energy is not working in a healthy way.

There is a positive spiritual energy force within us all. Which has a physical counterpart in the human body that feeds a certain portion of the brain cavity of Brahma. This is a living electricity or intelligent energy that is needed to open the brain. The macrobiological changes and its effect can be observable and scientifically verified. Elevations of consciousness can only occur through the transformation brought by kundalini and by no other agency.

Nature shows compassion to humanity in order to help guide us safely through transgressions. God to me is a universal god that is not tied to any one organized religion. It gives us chance after chance. But when we digress off the path unhealthy results occur. We can not blame nature but ourselves. We have intelligence, we have reason, and we have learning. But if by having everything we ignore it then of course nature has no alternative except to teach us by suffering. Heaven is always merciful and all compassionate.

Great prophets, mystics, inventors, sages and people of genius have come to guide our race towards evolution’s goal. The study of the past will show the common thread within these great men and woman. Study is needed in order to educate us about how life should be led to be more in harmony with the forces of nature, which govern our life. A life of humility – love – purity - truth - moderation and compassion.

But how can we prove kundalini’s effect on the body? We can perform an experiment in a controlled environment. This experiment would take on hundred individuals with a healthy average intellect - normal typical people all with a great urge to awaken with a deep passion for spiritual matters and who are prepared to mold their lives in consort with the spiritual laws. Men and women aged twenty to thirty five. They would be put in a peaceful environment and subjected to various tests over a period of five years or more.

Scientists can observe them as the subjects try to awaken their kundalini. They will awaken to differing degrees. Tests will document the physiological changes that occur and will provide the empirical proof of what happens to the body as the kundalini force is awakened. I hypothesis that there are definitive biological differences in the blood, the cerebrospinal fluid and the composition of the brain matter in its subtle layers. Research on brain mapping. EEG ceg ces and the electricity in the body may show the kundalini force. The brain activity will be increased and its effect will be found all over the body. There will be metabolic processes, which can be measured. There will be physiological changes, which can be measured. This will convince the biologist that this change of the mind of the brain has physiological counter part. The result will start humanity towards a greater understanding of this evolutionary mechanism.

Once it is proved that the potential to awaken lies within everyone and is the most valuable asset we have, people will strive for it. The result on humanity will be comparable to the splitting of the spiritual atom. Instead of releasing a nuclear holocaust it will unleash the beginning of a utopian age, our cosmic destiny that can transform a mortal into an immortal and eternal source of happiness.

The awakening of these energies produces genius in mortal man or woman. Creativity, love and compassion emerge and pathways are opened to a future, awakened humanity. We will become the trailblazers of our own inevitable destiny. A utopian age of peace and harmony will follow. All political and spiritual processes will be developed for the highest good. Individuals will develop their “inner Sun” to the fullest during their lifetime. Kundalini research is part of an evolutionary force that compels us to look for enlightenment as an experience accessible to all. To awaken is the goal nature has set for us.

The time is right for we can use state of the art technology to study the phenomenon. We can study the common thread that lies at the root of all religion mysticism which is to guide humankind’s understanding of evolutionary change The understanding of kundalini is now becoming provable for the first time.

Sigmund Freud in fact understood that the libido is directly responsible for mental imbalances. At some point in time we will discover that all we know can be reduced to the bio-chemical. This center of the brain cavity of Brahma is still undiscovered but could be called the “third eye” or the “philosopher’s stone”. Kundalini will for the first time reveal how energy is supplied to the brain and that it is superintelligent. Freud’s concept about libido is of a psychic energy drawn from the libidinous tendencies in human beings. Which is to say the reproductive energy but only from a psychic point of view. He does not say that it has organic roots. This is what famed psychologist Wilhelm Reich emphasizes that this libido must have roots deep in the biochemical structure of the body.

The sex organs in a state of awakened kundalini produces a vast amount of fluid to feed the newly activated part of the brain. Sexual energy may well be directly connected to a mechanism that is affected by evolutionary advancement. Kundalini is the fundamental bioenergy stored primarily in the sex organs. This basic life force is normally associated with the genitals for simple continuance of the species by providing a sex drive. The tie in to the human sex drive and higher consciousness must be explored. Why do men have ejaculation while asleep or wake up with erect penises. There is a force of nature that needs physical release to be sane.

It is called the “goddess Kundalini” or “Mother Nature” because a mother’s love is similar to the bliss of higher consciousness. Woman have more feelings! Life is part of them - menstruation each month reminds them of that. Soulmates, man-woman have intercourse to prolong the race (children). Plus experience the love, kundalini evolutionary force of completion, happiness and bliss that keeps growing.

Sexual or relaxation exercises may release inner pressure of an over-taxed libido. An evolutionary super-nectar, extraordinary life force feeds the mind, a kissing food of unlimited bliss. The sublimation raising up of sex energy is the basic lever of all spiritual disciplines. But the all-inclusive nature of sex energy is a misnomer. Reproduction is but one of the aspects of the life energy of which the other theater of activity is the brain.

Humanity’s basic needs are for sex, god and a need for prayer to control our environment i.e.. hope within everyone lies the ability to awaken. Humanity needs love to balance our own unbalanced state and give us time to meditate, to control our over-taxed brain. Humanity’s sex drive may well be the only time some people relax from their hectic lifestyles. There is a need to just kick back and enjoy. Sex could be a form of deep meditation and experience between two soul mates. Loves deep blissful passion, kundalini’s purest expression an active prayer one of the most powerful forces in the universe. A positive experience that ends in an explosion of uncontrollable bliss. However for the average person, sex is not a deep meditation but is merely a physical release, a small slice of love’s true potential.

What is needed is that deep magnetism of love - a yin/yang of a universal constant. First came the big bang theory for the creation of the universe, now the love theory of creation states that the universe is a constant - always was here. That pure love magnetism, that yin/yang. Example. Trees love earth. Earth love the sky the sky loves the stars space… Love is consciousness … The universe is male and female and in love with both forces.

Suppression of sexuality out of contempt or hatred of our lower nature is an act of ignorance leading only to atrophy of the sexual system. Celibacy is contrary to nature. Since enlightenment is an evolutionary process with heredity playing an important role stamping the genera of the enlightened so that their biological gains through spiritual disciplines can be passed to their progeny. DNA research will eventually discover the consciousness gene.

Sexual energy has been represented in ancient art and statues by an erect organ. Showing the upward streaming of the reproductive essence that effects the transformation of consciousness.

In order to discover the factual evidence behind consciousness, one must first study kundalini energy and its effects. Scientific proof will free humanity to accept the fact that within everyone lies the temple of god leading to a clear realization of our own divine nature. Man’s incomprehensible inner bliss and oneness with divinity and a way of life that overpowers doing wrong or any other action that goes against this cosmic evolutionary force. The misunderstanding of kundalini has led to environmental decline that seems rooted to ultimate destruction of Planet Earth i.e. ozone layer, burning of rain forests, religious wars and terrorism, rape and murder….

It is one relationship not just to their own kundalini but also towards each other. It is the combination of the two that will lead not only to harmony but also to sharing and ultimately to progress. The appeal especially in these times is kundalini which offers hope promise. There is negative energy (i.e. ours) that can be transformed into positive communal conscience which will try to eradicate feelings of helplessness, negativity, pain and the burden of feeling isolated.

Why are people so selfish? Due to not having an understanding of kundalini. Just desperation, helplessness and power struggles which lead to hurting others and ourselves or apathy both of which have a profound effect on our history and the mood of the energy.

Our goal and objective is to create a paradise on earth. A peaceful co-existence, long lives, greater achievements and more freedom. A utopian society living by the laws uncovered by the experiment. A union with the divine is a sum total of the physical laws of the universe. We are in the process of taking the next evolutionary leap. The new century is here.

The study of what lifestyle would be best to advance ones inner potential is a task that may take eons to complete. With the help of divine grace may we free the veil that covers the eyes of the blind masses. We who have been chosen for this colossal task are the humble instruments of this evolutionary force. We will do our part to understand this unfathomable awareness of our eternal souls. The universe is ruled by an intelligent power! Yeah, I'm getting in from Colorado on the 26th, hangin' for a day at my mom's crib in OC, and I'm looking for a ride from Irvine to The El Rey, on the night of the 27th. I'd be heading to Santa Barbara, but I can deal with that. Will anyone be passing through OC to go to the show in LA and willing to offer a ride of 1 person, bike, and bag? I might find the closest Amtrak/Greyhound/Cab set up to get through LA to a show, without a car. My van needs an engine and I need a ride. Ive been to the burn many, many times before…last year I went in an RV with 4 other people….we had a great time - that group isnt going this year…..so im trying to find a cool posse to camp with. I might have one person to join in, or probably just me… ill have lots of other camps I can visit ect…..

Call for Entertainers!

Come help us entertain at Home! Home Camp will be our Burning Man installation this year - it is a 3000 sq. foot, pre-turn of the century Victorian period v. Steampunk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk) themed chill space on the esplanade. We are turning this large tented space into a dream Victorian home for lush lounging, chilling, entertaining and more.

Whimsy. Flights of fancy. Slights of hand. Lace and laughter. Bears on bikes. Contortionists. Juggling unicyclers. Spontaneous performance artists, mimes, gymnasts and illusionists - we need your skills. We need your help. We are looking for creative performers of all kinds to provide escapes from the norm, however large or small.

This will be an incredibly cool plush chill space for non-primetime performance and art. If what you do is fun to watch, interact with, listen to, or if it teases up the audiences sensibilities, we want to hear from you.

Basura Sagrada art show / fundraiser - Aug 2nd - seeks food / bev donations, connections

Hello Temple lovers,

So we have an official LA fundraiser happening Saturday, Aug 2nd, with all proceeds going to this year's temple, Basura Sagrada, a beautiful temple made from trash!

We have lined up quite a lot of wonderful talent, but this will be a chill, lower profile event, more along the lines of a an art opening & silent auction, to beheld Aug 2nd, at the FireHouse (on Santa Fe St., downtown), 7pm - 12 midnight. (NOT a dance party.) Suggested sliding donation of $25 +. We have also scheduled some great entertainment, including a fashion show, and wandering dance vignettes - we just got the flier back from the printer's, so look for that shortly!

One of our more challenging tasks has been to gather donated food and beverages for the event, both to provide for the guests, and to auction (gift baskets.)

Do you have any connections in this area? We really need help in this area! Also, as part of a 501(c)3 organization, any items donated to the event are tax deductible, and we can provide donors with the proper receipt for the IRS.

I went to Lightning In a Bottle again a couple of weeks ago...i went with low expectations...because my experience there the last year was so intense and powerful i couldn't possibly hope for that to happen twice...it didn't.it was just....different.It's been a long and amazing year for me here in San Francisco.I felt led here by hopes and hints of a movement...a transformation...some sort of authentic revolution...and a certain amount of characteristic idealistic naivite and idealism that i have always seemed to harbor within since i was a child...idealism and naivite i see reflected in the community around me...from the aging hippies to the younger scenesters,artists and performers that populate my landscape.

over the year i have heard many rumours of revolutions and movements...i just read a burning man post(not sure if it was Larry harvey or some other member of the burning man hierarchy) about how we need to have a day dedicated to refraining from sex in order to move towards curbing population...just like having the oil free day...and the smoke free day...if we can all just get together and do these certain things...commit to these certain agendas...somehow things are going to get better...we will bring about world peace...somehow we will arrive...

...and something has happened inside of me in the course of my time spent here with all of you amazing idealists...artists...and deeply flawed and beautiful human beings...my experience last year at Lightning In A Bottle...which i think is a significant one to me...because as a kid i played in the forest alone...it was one of my most powerful and formative childhood experiences...because i learned how to be alone...but my heart ached with loneliness because it was so painfully beautiful and perfect there....so being in the forest with so many others...so many seeking hearts...is a powerful and meaningful thing for me i think....anyways...my experience last year was partly informed by a night in the treehouse...which was actually inside a dome that year...and following an intense set by Bassnectar...everyone sat down and watched Lucent Dossier give an absolutely amazing performance...one of the most most beautiful and perfect things i have yet seen.i have not seen them do anything since that comes close to touching that moment that night....i learned later that it was mostly improvised...and i realized at that moment that magic can be born out of exploring moments within moments...all of the possibilities that exist right there within...the deeper you go...the more there is to discover...

i wandered up to the boheman carnival camp and discovered a world of characters and performers crawling out of their tents...each creating and discovering little moments within time...one of them crawled out of her tent and it immediately became clear that she was a force...the queen of this thing i was in the process of discovering...i watched her scream at the top of her lungs...and then giggle mischeviously at what she had just done....i watched for hours as little explosions of energy from within erupted into the reality around me....it was then...definitely then that i was beginning to realize that the revolution...the only real revolution that can only create any real transformation or change was this...

the folly of the sixties and the "hippies" and of the fundamentalist christians...and of the muslims and mormons...and liberals...the conservatives...legalizers of pot...of the corporate capitalists...the gays and the socialists...the feminists...of hitler and stalin...clinton's and bush's...of all of us...and of myself...is that somehow we all have to all think the same way...do the same things...that there is a single destination for all of us whether it be world peace...or global domination....that somehow we have to create perfection...a perfect world...that there is always more to do....that we have to build a revolution of some sort....

the revolution is here...it has always been here...it is within...it is within each passing moment...and it has always been there each and every moment....waiting for each of us to find it within...within ourselves within each other....every moment is a miracle...and it never needed us to fix it and to make it somehow better...the world doesn't need us to fix it...it is us who needs to let go of our delusions...our arrogance...to negate our ridiculous egoes and to simply be here in this moment and to let it fill us with awe at all that it holds for us...

when i wrote about my experiences at LIB last year i wrote of acknowledging the belief that we are all gods and goddesses...a surprisingly polythesistic stance for me to take...but in the course of this year i have come to realize even more than that.i have come to realize that there is apoint within each of us that is a divine point of connection with everything that has been...that is...and that can be...and in that sense we are all truly gods and goddesses alike...we are all vessels of the divine...but that there is only one truth...one God...and that is the paradox...everything is paradox...our unique and limited perspectives do not make this any less true and i am humbled by the limitations of what i know and my experience...and i am grateful for it as well as it instills a proper sense of mystery and emotion...of astonishment at all that exists both within and around me.

I love the polarities of the LA scene and the San Francisco scene that collide at LIB...and the amazing energy that comes from their collision...mischevious clowns and circus freaks...bohemian kings and queens of the absurd, of chaos and the power of the heart ...as i watched the quieter less visually spectacle oriented performance of Lucent Dossier...i had been wondering somewhat from the night before with their mastery of the visual spactacle...and their profoundly aesthetic presence that seems to dominate their following...were we expected to worship their beauty...each character torn from the pages of a magazine...so flawless...so perfect...so much beauty...and so many insecurities flourish from that LA scene...so many visual spectacles and illusions...and then in swept the clowns in the back of the treehouse...those mischevious fuckers...making lotsof racket...tossing oompa loompas around and turning attention away from the beautiful...causing commotion and lotsof fingers to lips and shhhhhshhh's....so many battling insecurities...seeking acceptance...and open hearts...and who doesn't want to be healthy and beautiful?to wear beautiful clothes...but is the revolution about what kind of food we eat...having a beautiful and healthy body and clothes from Lord of the Rings?The clowns ask us to step back and laugh at ourselves...to embrace our own absurdities...the clowns are chaos and i fucking love the clowns for that...

and after the interruption (mostly imagined on my part) drifted away...i moved to the front to hear this quiet performance that was being given...and i felt as if i was watching real people...flawed...beautifully imperfect...stumbling their way through an awkward performance...one that so many dismissed as terrible or boring but which i loved for it's humanity...it's many flaws and imperfections...it's stark contrast to the previous night...and i admired the remarkable journey that this group ...this family of performers is on...and was grateful to them for bringing so many of us with them....

I have a beautiful friend who introduced me to so many of the friends i have made now from last years event...she has struggled with the tyranny of the visual for so long now...rarely going out and looking like herself in times past...rocking the entire event with little or no flourishes to her appearance...and more beautiful than ever....what a remarkable transformation and revolution she is going through...truly becoming a badass with each passing day... beauty flowing from the heart and not her flesh or her costumes...a true revolutionary of the heart she made my soul smile...

And my wonderful companion and oracle...one of the most powerful people i have ever met...clown and jester...unafraid to be ugly and immeasurably beautiful spent the entire weekend creating worlds within worlds with me....together we have braved sandstorms on chariots...explored an endless tree for an entire day and performed onstage with the amazing Yard dogs(of course no one saw us because we were offstage in our tent but if you people had seen our performance we'd av floored ya)....whenever i spend time with her i feel truly blessed...

I could write book about the endlessly amazing people and interactions i had during that weekend...my amazing friends from Dustfish who transcend all with so much heart and ferocious love no one could feel out of place or unwanted in their presence....a truly organicically grown community of friends and true family that grows each day that someone new steps into their presence...

...my best friend from denver who bought a ticket the day before the event and hitch hiked up there the day of the event just to come hang out...as much a brother to me as my flesh and blood...

my friend who gave me his ticket...because his mother had passed away and he didn't think he could come...but then came late anyways because he needed to celebrate his own life she had helped give to him...to transform grief and sadness into gratefulness and joy...

my amazing and talented friend who danced and hooped for me...the beautiful circle that connects all of these things and every one of us...every heart...and every thing so perfectly....

i do not seek to unite the world as one...with wires...with philosophies...with technology...with economic systems...with art...with words...it already IS one and always has been...the world does not need to be "greened"...it is green already...trying to build new politics and methods to somehow save the world is a veiled attempt at keeping the things i refuse to let go of...i love my truck...i love the city and movies and grocery stores...i love clubs and pavement...i love drugs and alcohol and smoking and all of my vices....

today a child experienced something so powerful and so beautiful that it justified all of the evils and injustices and imperfections we have endured...to simply produce that one moment....today was infinite in it's scope...it's power...it's beauty...if our world ended right now...it was all worth it...

in this past year there have been so many moments where i have thought i am the luckiest human being in the history of human beings to be here now alive in this moment....i was blown away at how lucky i am...moments of the purest beauty and perfection....of sheer contentment and gratefulness that i am alive and in this place with this person or people...or alone with the universe....or alone with God...i am not trying to change anyone or anything...i am just humbled and awed and grateful to be here...the power of the universe is within and the deeper you go inside...the deeper you go into the woods...the deeper you explore each other and each moment...the more you begin to realize how little you really know...how magical and mysterious the world really is...and the limitless possibilities that await us.that is my revolution.

Parking Lot Safety/Security: Someone broke my windshield:-P

I know this probably happens from time to time at festivals, but when I got back to my car after a great weekend of funhaving, my front windshield had a big crack, costing me $225 to replace:-P

I know it's not LIB's "fault", but it feels kinda shitty since the guy at the gate spent a good while convincing me I didn't want to buy a car pass and bring my vehicle in (I know it coulda happened inside the festival too). We sort of put our trust in the people running the festival to watch the parking lot and make sure people aren't throwing rocks at windshields while we party. Even right when I got back to my car, I could tell there wasn't good enough parking lot security by the insane amount of flyerbombing that had occured. Seems like if they are trying to have a "green" festival, they would try to keep litter like that to a minimum.

Just me bitchin' and moanin'.

Any thoughts or comments on what if anything LIB can do to prevent things like this from happening in the future?

Wizard Wonka Brent, chief power monkey for Do Lab/LIB, just got out of surgery for an emergency appendectomy. He should be doing fine and coming home tomorrow.

During LIB I watched Brent and a few dozen other staff/volunteers work incredibly hard to pull together a great event for all of us. Brent ran around all day and night making sure all stages, domes and booths had light, sound and power throughout the event....he rarely rested! Late in the woods one long delirious night WizBrent had a vision for LIB 2009, an installation that he wants to build for our next celebration together. He wants to bring the lightning back into the bottle and wants all of your help to make it happen!

If you know of artists who like to work with Tesla Coils, put us in touch here. Our studio is based in Los Angeles. A small art/construction team will be recruited after this summer; builders and other interested friends are welcome to send a message to the Wizard Wonka Brent here on tribe, or post a message here and I'll be sure to send the patient to this site when he wakes up out of anesthesia.

LA fundraiser for Shrine's Basura Sagrada - we need you!

As you may or may not know, Shrine is the artist behind that wonderful trash temple near this year's treehouse stage, as well as much of the stage's decor ... and he is also designing this year's temple at Burning Man, called the Basura Sagrada.

Construction is happening mostly in SF, but a bunch of us in LA are pulling together a fundraiser in LA - because besides the trash, they need cash!

If you would like to help out with the LA fundraiser in any way (volunteering, lending art, music, time, ideas, connections, space...) please contact Marsi or me. Every year at LIB I stumble on to a new band that blows me away.
Last year it was Gamalan X.
( Missed you guys this year! Hope you were rockin the world somewhere.)

As I was just about to tuck my video camera away by the Bamboo Stage, I was drawn in by your (Kan 'Nal) music.
I decided to shoot just one more cute hope girl. As I panned off of her to the band, I realized how much I liked your sound. I moved in front and center and shot most of the rest of your show. I didn't see any other V cameras going so I thought you might want some of the footage.
By any chance did you or someone record sound on your show ???????
And could we get a copy if you did so we can edit to it ????????
Usually my audio levels are shit ! But if you recorded sound then, we will put something together and send you copies of the good stuff !!!!!!
Not every moment of mine is golden but I feel I got some great coverage on all the band members, the dancers, the moment with your artist, and i love to shoot the crowd going nutz ! I think you will like it at least as documentation.

We( Me and My husband Terry) were actually documenting Do Lab with a Pan DVX 100A camera and it puts out a nice rez. We will be putting out short mini videos of Do Lab highlights and it would be great to include good audio of your set, too !!!!!!!

MY poor little 20ft winnebago and i had to go our separate ways so she could get a little mechanical love. She's as healthy as a horse now and needs to be picked up in santa monica. This would be an awesome opportunity for a road trip up to Oregon for a group of people. IT gets 18- 20 mpg and is a small 20ft sexy little ride. It's easy and fun to drive you need to know how to drive a stick though. I live in ashland but could meet you in the mount shasta area eugene or portland. IT needs to be picked up ASAp so whenever you wanan leave you set the date.

Anyone in Playa del rey/venice area?

So I'm moving into my dream place near the beach . I think I am very close to venice. I need some new beach places to visit. Any chill kind of hipster bar that I should do go? A place that plays Devo, Madonna and James Brown would be great.( talking heads would be a dream)
Any cool little ( IE cheap ) cute dress/shoe places I should get out? Isn't Zanzibar right there in Venice.
Where can I get a cheap iced coffee and read the Onion? I don't mean to sound cheap but I live in Silverlake and the playa looks expensive.
I'm also looking for intelligent , interesting men near 30 years old ( but with their shit together ) where are they near the playa?

.... I'm super excited to be invited to that, but am temporarily very, very low on cash. I have a HUGE payday at the end of this month... just not soon enough.

I leave Sunday, the conference ends Friday. After that I am going to see the BodyWorlds exhibit in Santa Monica and hang out in Venice for a day before going home.

I'm 420 friendly, highly educated, world traveler, super respectful house guest and a great cook.

Any suggestions? I really don't know anyone in LA.....

Except maybe Chris and Salad Bar... but I don't know exactly where they live or if it's possible.....
