Hey everyone!

It's my room mates 25th birthday and she/we are throwing a house party on the 8th at 10pm. It's a Marie Antoinette themed party and I would like to invite all you lovely people to come along and party with us.

If you are interested in laying down some vinyl or just partying it up please let me know as we are always looking for more people.

We will have a 2 room dance floor along with a backyard with food and drinks. There will be a photobooth, champagne fountain, and lots of silly costumes.

The house will be decked out with the theme in mind. You will not be turned away for lack of costume. I just want to have all my friends under one roof for a good party. I am hoping with the turn out that this will go late into the evening.

The Ambient Mafia is a San Francisco-based DJ collective that specializes in downtempo, or chill music.

Back in 1999, a group of chill DJs decided to band together to represent the side of DJ culture that was more interested in creating a cool atmosphere than in what the Future Sound of London best described as the “indiscreet blowjob” side of the DJ scene. Not that we don’t love getting indiscreet blowjobs. We do. Especially our girls.

Anyway, the Mafia quickly made a name for itself on the then-thriving massive scene. Promoters soon learned the value of having a skilled downtempo crew in their chill rooms, as opposed to their wannabe DJ friends trainwrecking their way thru a crate of trance b-sides.

With a few exceptions, the days of the massive are over, but the Ambient Mafia continues to be a visible presence on the local scene through residencies and appearances at venues like Anu, 111 Minna, Space 550 and various underground venues.

Times change, but the Mafia mission remains the same – to give people music that makes them think and dance and … chill.

ROBBIE HARDKISS
With his brothers Scott Hardkiss and Gavin Hardkiss, Robbie Hardkiss is a central figure in the infamous Hardkiss family of DJs and musicians. Working in their hometown of San Francisco, the Hardkiss brothers were instrumental in developing the U.S. rave and outdoor party scene in the early '90s. Pioneering Hardkiss tunes such as "3 Nudes In A Purple Garden" and "Rainery" helped define the psychedelic West Coast breakbeat sound that continues to grow today. Their legendary status within the realm of electronic music was immortalized with the release of their double album, Delusions of Grandeur.

Since then, Robbie Hardkiss has gone on to remix songs (with and without his brothers) for artists such as Elton John, Freestylers, Spacetime Continuum, The Grid, Lords of Acid, The Sandals, Q-Burn, God Within (aka Scott Hardkiss), and Hawke.

Scott, Gavin and Robbie, the Hardkiss brothers, ruled the underground San Francisco club scene during the 1990s with a mixture of acid, trance and breakbeat techno. World-class DJs all, the brothers also run their own Hardkiss label, releasing material as themselves plus myriad other artists, including Rabbit in the Moon and Scott's God Within project. It was Scott and Gavin who formed the group in the early '90s after experiencing Britain's 1989 Summer of Love firsthand while studying in Europe. Returning to the States, the two began promoting and organizing massive raves on the East Coast, but later moved out to San Francisco to share the vibe with the West as well. Hooking up with old friend Robbie and christening themselves Hardkiss, the trio began recording material for their eponymous label. Though few releases appeared on anything other than vinyl, the label compilation Delusions of Grandeur serves as a good primer to the Hardkiss sound. Hello everyone, hope your week has been fine so far. Apparently some of you are still pooped from your desert excursions down south this weekend (hope that party was a great one!), but if you're not, we'd love to see you down at SYNCHRONIZE this week!

This week we have a guest that's very dear to our hearts, and who has been a figure in the psytrance scene in San Francisco since its beginning days. One of the most honest and professional promoters here, working with him is a delight. Oh, and he's also one of the best DJs in the Bay Area, having been spinning for over 10 years. We're very happy to have MICHAEL LIU play for us, and he has requested an opening slot, which we've extended for him. Afterwards will be a tag-team set by SENTIENT and RANDOM. Hide the kids!

Last year, on May 23rd, Secret Psychedelica was broken. We were scheduled to have Hujaboy come in to help celebrate our 4 year anniversary. Unfortunately, there were a handful of events that took place and Hujaboy was not able to make it (until our Halloween show). With the help of Aaron Jae, we re-organized the anniversary party which featured Breakbeat Scientist, Reid Speed. This gave birth to Secret Breakedelica. The night was an overwhelming success and we've been looking for a reason to do more. In fact, we almost started it back up at the Buddha Lounge in Mountain View but in the end, we felt it would be better to have the night in a familiar spot. It wasn't until the end of January that there was talk about changing Secret Psychedelica two twice a month at the Savoy. So, here we are now, instead of two Secret Psychedelica nights, we've got something new...the bastard child of Secret Psychedelica. The main musical focus on this night will be breaks of all sorts and your usual psychedelic suspects will be in the "backroom" playing 80s/90s electronica.

We're building this party to be the largest and craziest outdoor that we've had to date! Everyone welcome, fire dancers, tribal drummers, freaks, geeks n goblins, and YOU! As suggested by one of our fellow full moon patrons that would should try and bring out an old school dj- we were able to get in touch with Matthew Gadfather who's been spinning house since 1991. He has played at such legendary parties as A Rave Called Sharon, The Gathering, Mega Buzz, Planet Rock, Origin, Love Affair and Fusion- just to name a few. fucked up shit in utah

this is so seriously fucked up it affects all that we stand for and have stood for over the past many years. I mean I am no big time promoter or anything but I do throw renegades on occasion or other types of parties. We just did one on pigion point a few weeks ago and all I can think is what if that were me and my friends getting busted, getting guns pointed at us or getting beaten up and handcuffed. That however, was a renegade this was fuckin legal and thrown WITH permits. What next. We all need to work tegether to protest this shit so it does not happen again. I am just suprised that I have not heard more voices speaking up on this out here in the bay area. I mean I saw 3 news storys on this today off the same site the first one said that it was a drug bust and did not mention the word rave and had shots of all the drugs and guns that the cops confiscated but no info on our side of the story. The 2nd one had more of our views on it and had about to 3 seconds of the promoters ideals on it but still called it a drug bust and still showed the drugs putting down the electronic music scene entirely. The third called it a rave bust and had more of our views but is still saying that we were in the wrong. What I am saying is that the only people that are going to see that are people following the story which is not too many people outside of our culture. They need to know the truth and they probablly never will.

Halfway through the party, authorities arrived in full riot gear and ended the event like a full-scale riot (tear gas, attack dogs, and assault rifles). thanks for coming out

All in all I would have to say that this had to be one of the most chaotic starting awesome ending partys we have done in a while. There just happened to be another party on the beach as well which consisted of about 150 high school kids from portolla valley. Many of our people ended up getting to the beach and watching the police bust the other party at about midnight and then turned around and went home thinking our party got busted. For that we are truly sorry. However, the kids left and we set up and had no problems the rest of the night. All of the sets were awesome we lost a few dj's along the way but had a few more to cover. The beats went till 7 and it was also Jason Smith's birthday one of the drow residents. All in all it was an awesome night. Many thanks to Ataraxia and Burtzurker for bringing out a bumpin sound system for 2 sound stages. Also many thanks to the dj's who came out and dropped some awesome beats on a beautiful night. And of course most importantly thanks to everyone who had supported us for the last three years. Party pix have been posted, check em out.

Well well well its just about time again for another outdoor gathering in the beautiful bay area and this time were doing it with some old and new friends. This night however is special to us because we are planing to celebrate our three year aniversary. Thats right were already 3. We have a beautiful location for you just 30 minutes from SF which some of you may already recognize. The line up for the evening will be.
