I'm going to Burning Man with my 2 year old. We've adopted a golf cart which is turned into a Fly. The Fly is pretty much built and the engine is in great working order (recently repaired by Sierra Golf Carts in Reno). What I need help with is attaching and powering lights and sound to my Fly. I basically am looking for a loving Burner to help me put it together on the Playa or even in Reno the day before. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Fun Kreeper Tunez - Share Your Ideas!

I'm workin on some fun kreeper soundtrack mixes to send up to the flower crew at burning man this week.

I think they're plannin on havin a lot of fun with the Kreeper flower (venus fly trap) sneakin up and chasing people around the playa.

So i'm trying to put together as much sneakin-up/chase music as possible so the Kreeper flower can Kreep up just as well as our Kreeper always could. know what i'm sayin??

My greatest fondest memory of hangin out with Kreeper was the morning after the burn last year when we all rode the flower across the playa and over the ashes of the man, culminating at Center camp where we blasted the morning crowd with Back to the Future, Aphex Twin, Queen, and some Philip Glass. That may have been the greatest morning of my entire life, and Kreeper was sittin right there with me for the whole thing. It is a truly cherished memory and i know Kreeper will be there again this year, lovin every minute of it as an 80-ft venus fly trap with a mohawk!

so think of all the best movie music, fun songs, whatever that you can to help Kreeper chase fools all over the playa.

I'm already sending stuff from Beetlejuice, Pee-wee's big adventure, Jaws, Fantasia, and Little Shop of Horrors. got any other ideas? just post the title/artist/etc. and i'll be able to find it.

Flower Buildin' August 5 & 6 and beyond....

Hi y'all....

We are rebuilding the 80' flower, and it's friend Kreeper at Abundant Sugar this weekend and every day until we leave for the playa (August 19). This weekend is a particularly important weekend for us, as we will have one of the cranes rented that we use for the flower, and we will be doing a complete build and test of the companion vehicle Kreeper, which is an 80' dark and creepy venus fly trap, named after our friend Joseph "Kreeper" Lucero.

We are looking for volunteers to come down and lend a hand over the weekend and beyond. If you are interested in participating in these amazing creatures, hit me up on Tribe and I will give you the location information. You will be fed, kept happy and have a good time. I promise.

There are several ways to perform at the event. The first way is to host your own theme camp. Or, you can contact us, and we'll connect you with theme camps that are hosting performance areas, where you can perform as their guest. There will be a small performance area at center camp for eclectic performers, spoken word, and fire troupes
that perform to a CD.

Theme camps with music should have works of art, decoration, and places to hang out. Do not just bring a stack of speakers and call yourself a theme camp. If you are doing a performance area, we want you to bring lights, decoration, and seating. Create your area.

* A few rules on sound: theme camps with music will be asked to give 3 one hour time slots each day to guest performers. This should increase the number of people dancing in your area. Plus, it's fun to meet new people (and maybe meet your next and finest new Lover!),
and creates a generous environment for performers traveling from far away.
* A note on volume. If it’s after 3 am at night, go to half volume.

ID of a tune played by the flower

Hey everyone,
Not sure if this will be possible, but there's one track that was being played by the flower that I wanted to get an ID on. I have some of it on videotape which I can get an mp3 of, if needed. It was a track with a female vocal, it had a pretty slow beat, and the beginning/end of it ended with a single beep that was echoing. I remember it looping that song while the flower was out on the playa near the fire-pendulums.

If anyone knows what track that is, I'd love to know the name.
If this is impossible without an mp3 sample, lemme know and I'll get one made and post it somewhere for people to ID from.

Want to build a big flower in San Francisco

Hey folks,

My name is Jason Riggs, I work at the STOP AIDS Project in San Francisco. We are interested in building a Miracle Grow type flower to commemorate the 25 year anniversary of the emergence of HIV.

We are looking for someone who can really take this on and/or teach someone in San Francisco how to do this. There may be some compensation for your time (we can talk) and obviously we will pay for materials.

The idea is to have the flower parked on a street in San Francisco for about two weeks. The flower will be the focal point for several community activities and materials that echo the flower theme.

We are looking to do the event in March, so we need to get the conversation started asap.

Thank you to everyone who showed up in support of this amazing piece. Almost all of my most amazing moments on the playa revolved around the flower and all of you, who I love so fiercely, that built it. Thank you so much for the experiences and even more, thank you for one of the highlights of my journey...the smile on eleven's face that was as big as the flower all week long. Blessings.

The flower is looking cool. One petal is up and working, blooming and budding. We are good to go with a production line on all 24 petals. Any help on deck will be appreciated as we want to have it finished in time for the Cirque fundraiser on Aug 5th and 6th. It is going to be music and fun. I hope to see you both days this weekend!

First Official Meeting for the flower car!

We are holding the first meeting on Wed. July 6th, 8pm at Abundant Sugar.

This meeting is for everyone who is interested in being a part of this amazing project. Wheather you are a carpenter, welder, sewer, painter, dancer or just want to hang around and create good vibes. Please come out. We're going to need a lot of support on this one. And it's going to be a ton of fun too.

We'll be discussing project details, breaking down responsabilities, and planning our fundraiser event.

Our Awesome Fundraiser Info!!

Hey Gang!!

We have scheduled our fundraiser for Aug 5th and 6th. Basically we are going to do a repeat of the Cirque Berzerk fundraiser at Abundant Sugar. That gang and Lucent Dossier have offered to come and do a repeat performance plus any other amazing acts we can pull from our own freaky ranks!! For those of you that saw or heard about the Cirque Berzerk fundraiser you will know how incredible this will be.

In a nutshell, we will be having a sit down served dinner circus theatre on both Friday and Saturday night. The last one sold out in a couple days and was a huge sucess for everyone and was the best event we have had at Abundant Sugar. We will make a concerted effort to invite friends and collegues from our civilian lifes with money and will charge $60. Explain that it is a fundraiser specifically for an art project, not our camp or food etc. The model works! We believe that we can raise all the money we will need on that one weekend.

Pass the invite around and we will be discussing the details at the meeting on Wednesday!! See you all there!!

A moving, swaying, illuminated flower taller than the man!!

So gang, the basic idea here is to create a huge flower capable of blooming to the rising sun at dawn every morning where ever it has been planted by the revelers the night before.

Our ambition is to create shroud an articulated manlift in a fabric skin, attach a 20' flower bud to the cage and create a shaded chill zone with sofas, and a bad ass sound system in the grass at the root.

Here are the basics...

It drives 2.5 mph max (perfect walking/dancing speed)!

It moves, spins, twists, tilts and turns!

It can have a fan and aromatherapy to mist the dancing crowd!

It rises to 80' + taller than the man. Lets go flirt!!

Here in LA we will go and photograph and measure the same exact model of manlift at the rental company.

We will then design and build the flower mechanics and sew the fabric skin. The base with sofas will be designed to hang from the manlift base.

Once before Burninman we will rent the manlift for a day and do a test assemble. Final modifications will be made then.

The manlift will be dropped by the rental company onto the playa. We will velcro and bungie cord the skin on, mount the base and attach the flower bud. Off we go!!

Sounds ambitious and it is, but in truth, fabric is cheap in the fabric district, Abundant Sugar has the space to lay it all out and we are awash in an awsome community who love to get together and create magic.
