Today is day 8, and my second week of dance recovery
I did an hour of Mesmera's Garden its a combinations video.
I really like it. I wont use several of her combinations, but she makes me think about how to put postures and moves together. And I will use several of her combinations
Im going to upgrade this video to DVD at her workshop in Florence this spring.

    I mssed day so I was assigned a penance
    to drill in place blond folded

    whoa!
    I did 50 minutes of in place drills and strength building
    blind folded
    the last 5 minutes I hula hooped

    ok this is what it does for you
    makes you VERY aware of your head movement
    makes you aware of when you need to tighten the core for balance
    and I really needed to engage the core up at least 1 if not 2 notches to maintain my balance from what I would do normally

    It did something good for me, Ive been leading all moves with my right wrist. its been mentioned negatively by the instructors in 2 workshops last year. when I really was focusing on the move, and my balance and using the muscles properly my wrist stopped flipping
    cant flip the wrist when you are using that arm as a balance anchor

    I did hip lifts, slides, shimmies, hip alphabets, fig 8s, and hip circles and arms
    I danced in place a little easy choreo (that was the last thing I did -- talk about messing with balance!)
    I did various arm curls for delts and back strength, squats, and crunches and belly rolls
    all blind folded, I did open my eyes between for orientation, after the hip lifts I was practically in the book shelf!

    I would actually recommend doing a few drills with your eyes closed it makes you very aware of the muscles you need to be using

      this week Ive done drills, and walked on the treadmill
      Ive been going constantly and the muscles--all of the muscles are sore
      I will probably just walk or stretch today
      muscles need some recovery time
      and the goal is to gain strength and skill, not to break
