just cuz I am uber excited...

I just had to tell you all that I found out on wednesday that i got into BERKELEY!!! I am going in the fall to finish up my Bachelor's in Psych and I am over the moon about it! I am so looking forward to it for so many reasons, but one of the main ones is that I am moving to the Bay Area and will be around sooo many hoopers!

I am finding that I need other hoopers around to inspire me and that is just not happening here in Sacramento for me...I have been so busy with my new job and I just haven't been hooping as much as I would like...thank goodness for The Hoop Path workshop a couple of weeks ago...I have definitely been inspired by that on a personal practice level...but I can tell now that I need more...I need the energy of others, the community of hoopers that a lot of you have...it brings me out of my shell and out of my head, and supports me in a way that no one else can.

Anyway, I just felt I needed to share my news with you all....I am looking forward to hooping with more of you in the future as I get more involved in the community...there is one little downside to me going to Berkeley...I am not sure if I will be at Burning Man this year and it kills me...school starts that week...ugh. But it may still be worth it to go for the weekend (although that sounds like so hectic to me)...just so I can hoop it up there for my first time! I have been to Burning Man twice before, but never as a hooper....waaahhhhh! haha, it's all good...it's for a good cause!

Congratulations!!! You know, Natasha, aka Silverstar lives in Berkeley. She's lovely. I bet you two could pass some happy hoop time together.

Congrats! As someone who has mixed hooping and school over almost my entire hoop life, my advice is: make sure to hoop as much as possible. It will keep you grounded and smooth out time spent sitting at a computer or sitting with a book. I think dancers/athletes/movement artists make even better students because they are pursuing a discipline of the body and a discipline of the mind. Those pursuits compliment one another. When my grad school prof told me I needed to decide what was more important, writing or "that hoopdance thing," I looked at him like he was insane. You can totally wear more than one hat. It's about balance. Choose both. :)

Oh, and I thought Silverstar lived in Oakland? Maybe I'm wrong. She'll have to clear that up.

Again, congratulations and have tons of fun with this new chapter in your life!
