Here is a new video I did recently. I was practicing at the studio in the gym and really working on samari, stalling, sustained spinning, planes and a lot of movement. Just looking for some honest feedback/constructive feedback. I posted on facebook, but haven't had much response. Love Love Love

Wed, September 2, 2009 - 8:46 AMBonnie, I got goosebumps and found my heart swelling during your dance. Particularly the sustained spinning, keeping the plane of the hoop so pitch perfect, and then tipping it in unexpected ways. It's really wonderful to witness your voice becoming more and more refined and uniquely you. I think you are an amazing example of the state of Grace that can be attained with hard work, dedication, and following one's own Path. I found myself really appreciating your awareness of your entire body, your attention to flying your birds and and drawing with your feet. You do that like no one else.
The only thing I would comment upon regarding balance, and this is only because I'm totally OCD, is that you make sure you are giving your second current an opportunity to play with sustained spinning as well. I realize that in video, we don't necessarily worry so much about demonstrating that we do every thing equally in both currents. It's just a glimpse of how we felt inspired to move in one particular moment of time. But I mention this more because I've found myself inclined to default to doing certain things in one current, and other types of movement in the other current, but often not the other way around.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! -

Thu, September 3, 2009 - 6:21 AMBeth you are so right!! While I do spin in my second current, it is not my strong suite and I need to practice it more. In practice sessions I almost always make sure I spin in both currents...I wonder if it was because consciously or subconsciously I knew the camera was on...hmmm food for thought. Originally when I use to only spin in one current I began to develop hip problems. Beginning to spin in both currents quickly remedied my hip issue. Now I just have to become as comfortable in my second current as my first!!!
