And you can't slow down!!
I created this tribe so that we can have a new place to keep up with haps at the Lounge.... I will never be able to replace the Jellyheads (not that I would want to), but I though it would be a good idea to start a new tribe. With the exit of the DAD's to thier wonderful mountain home, I find myself in a position to keep a pulse going here at the Lounge. We want to continue to have gatherings and pot lucks as well as low key shows from time to time as long as we continue to live here.
Feel free to add this tribe to your list, so you can be updated when there are activities happening at the Lounge.... more to come SOON!

Tue, August 7, 2007 - 11:04 PMCouldn't you try just a little bit harder
Couldn't you try just a little bit more
Let's all try to keep the family spirit of the Lounge alive
Dave & August created a wonderful community for us to flourish in
Let's let their spirit guide us to new heights of fellowship and love. -

Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Wed, August 15, 2007 - 11:58 AMDave & August created our community? What an incredible feat for just 2 people to create an entire community! Hopefully now people in the Mountains can meet each other and form a community too with the DAD's guidance! -
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Wed, August 15, 2007 - 2:46 PMI've been instructed by the powers that be that I should no longer post on tribe but simply read others posts and educate myself.
With regards to the last post so that things don't get misconstrued, I love the DAD's very much (yes, even the little one :), Hi Destiny) and cannot tell you how many awesome and incredibly humbling times I have spent in their presence and at the beloved Jellyphish.
They opened the Jellyphish and their hearts to not only me & my friends which became theirs but also to my family in times of strife and for this they will always have a place in my heart.
After spending an evening gazing at meteors in their new castle in the hills and laughing at various moving sattelites & cloud formations, I know that I absolutely do enjoy their company in any state I am in(literally), will miss them at the local functions, miss the bright colors and funky patterns they bring to the party, and will miss the influx of new music they bring (Trippyland?). Although we are only 16-24 hrs drive away(depending on who you ride with & route taken) or a 3 hour flight, it may seem like a lifetime but they will be back and we will be there from time to time as well.
I do feel however that a community is made of so much more than 2 people and although that's where your individual community may have been centered around, there is a whole nother side of our community that didn't attend many functions at the Jellyphish but still make up a very viable part of our "community" that we have here in Houston.
I'm sure we will continue to build a strong base in Houston no matter which one of our petals drift away into the wind as the new growth will only offer further diversity and chance for renewal. We have an awesome tribe of people in our presence and the hole in your time and space can only be filled by forming new bonds and seeking out new people with the qualities that you wish for in a Phriend.
We will only get stronger as we grow!
I know that the DAD's will compliment the fine community that is very much already in place in the mountains (as I have met many of them and love them) and will always be considered a part of our Phamily here in H-town as well.
Hope this explains my stance and do know that I love you all (except where noted and Jon Deblanc :P of course) and I don't know why I feel compelled to explain myself for being so misunderstood!
p.s.- Kurt's a dick!

Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Thu, August 16, 2007 - 8:45 AM***apparently, i was signed on as david when i made this response.....
i remember when the pjef left and people wondered what to do because he was thought of as the glue which held the community together...
i remember when the rickmans left and people wondered what to do because they were thought of as the glue which held the community together...
i remember when jason esparza took off for mt. shasta...[well, he came back!]
i remember when billy parks moved on...
i remember all those who haves spread their wings and left the houston nest
each one has been special and pivitol in our awesome family and there was no one who came in and merely "replaced" but rather continued the tradition of nurturing, initiating community bonding, etc.
it is often hard living in houston and the community we have all grown together is what sets htown apart from other "more kind living" spots
so you are right meatsprinkles, the DADs did not single handedly form a community, we just opened ourselves up enough to allow the community to come together, grow together and become strong
TOGETHER
not alone
not by ourselves
without ego
and
with love
i remember a post cony made awhile back when cheese announced their final tour and we announced our big move...understandably grappling with the emotions, she stated "where is the love going to come from now???"
my answer said it all, "from right inside of you where its always been"....
so there it is.
we didn't make the htown scene, we just did what we could for our community because we WANTED to - although the original intent was in the right place, what happened with the JPL was so unexpected; david & i were always so amazed at what a group of people could achieve if they all pulled together.
TOGETHER.
not alone
not by oneself
without ego
and
with love
people would always say to us, "you guys have the best parties"
and we would always replay, "we just have the space - YOU make the party"
you guys ARE the party and david & i truly want the houston family to remain the wonderful family it has always been.
so we've passed the torch and now it's up to YOU...
YOU decide how you want it to be, and then.........
make it that way...
i love you ~

Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Thu, August 16, 2007 - 10:06 AM>stinging a bit from the earlier slightly sarcastic 'guidance' post<
david & i DO want to help pull this mountain community together....i know it is already probably a fairly tight-knit place with the town being so small 'n all, but i am unsure of how strong the "family" really is or if there is plenty of interaction between the different degrees of separation.
if we are able to achieve this, it will largely depend upon the participatory efforts of those who already live here.
i know i want another awesome women's group to share female energies with and i know i want to become part of this town, to find my place here....i also know david feels the same.
so i am deciding how to go about doing just that....and it looks like i need to do my own integration into the communit - i need to put myself out there. that's what it will take on my part.
as far as guidance, it seems folks do need a little help / swift kick in the butt to get a jump start and it most often takes one, two or a few people to initiate.
so with everything i learned from my houston family, i hope the response will be favorable to begin building a stronger family here on the current strong foundation. -

Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Thu, August 16, 2007 - 11:10 AMI know change can stir up all kinds of hidden feelings and create chaos as the new form begins to take shape upon settling back down again. This can come out in many ways good or bad, and we all tend to grow from these experiences at some level within ourselves. As the lounge sits empty right now, it feels like it is in a deep slumber that will awaken with renewed energy and vibrant when the time is right. Our community is not confined to one location, we are spread far and wide, and will continuously flow in and out of each others lives. I try to make the most of what is in front of me, and hope that I can spread a little love and wisdom as I pass through, as well as gain love and wisdom in return. When one person steps out of the circle, another steps in, and the circles start to over lap. I strangely have no sense of loss at this time, though your presence will be missed (DAD's) there is no loss, only gain, for all that choose to find it. I wish you the best in pulling a new community together... spread those arms wide open and embrace change. -

Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Thu, August 16, 2007 - 8:19 PMthe wheel keeps turning and as it does it grows exponentially!
When all of the above mentioned(by August) left us....
we did wonder....
but we also knew that where ever they were, we have family!
as our group spreads it's wings to the four corners of the earth,
we only expand....our love gets spread a little further, and as a result, grows
And as April said, the circles overlap, and then the chain gets even stronger yet!
I, Too, miss the DAD's a bunch kisses to the Diva chic! but I know we will make our way
and the story just goes...........................Further!
here's to the new incarnation of the Lounge!!!!!!!!
is it time for a late nite accoustical? -

Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 1:55 PMlounge movie nights rock! pop some popcorn, set it up like a movie theater, have folks bring chairs, pillows for the front, etc.
consider doing a midnite lounge flick -- we were going to show the dark side of the rainbow [synching up DSOM and Wizard of Oz] but then those new monsoon boys came in and that idea was thrown out the window. the rest is history : ) -
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 2:29 PM>those new monsoon boys came in and<>the rest is history : )<
those boys...;-)
and what fun it was... -

Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 2:54 PMHey...I beat if you asked real nice there could be a Dark Side of Rainbow party during the Tufuerkey Day fun. I have never seen it synched up. -
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 3:04 PMoooooooh! now that would be fun : )
i will ask nicely, "please?" but never beg. it's so unsightly from a woman.
and i have never seen it synched up either....we could pop our dark rainbow cherries together tim! -
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 3:56 PMI would enjoy checking out Dark side of the wizard of Oz.
sounds way cooler than the other suggestions for movies -
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 4:05 PMYou cant tell me Smokey and the Bandit isnt a good movie!(at its least funny...its got Jackie Gleason in it!! Cannonball Run has Mel Tillis!)
why dont you come up with something instead of shooting others down?
-
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 6:47 PMi don't think freddie was shooting others down - he said he thought DSOR sounded cooler than the other suggestions and in saying that, it sounded like to me that he was, in fact, coming up with something....DSOR : )
so yes hoopy, S&B is a damn funny movie and i know you & i had big dreams of CR in the JPL....which, as also suggested, would be a great costume movie contender!
-
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 6:49 PMDon't parties last more than just a couple of hours? Couldn't there be more than one movie? -
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Tue, August 21, 2007 - 10:05 PMyes, we would have to show more than one... all night movies until the last person passes out on one of the couches... -
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 8:47 AMI keep hoping the damn Burt Reynolds thing will die down but it looks like we're going to have to make it happen and get it over with!
:)
breaker, breaker 1-9 good buddy -

Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 9:26 AM>>I keep hoping the damn Burt Reynolds thing will die down<<
WHAT?!?!?!?!?! Cmon!!! it would be comedy at its finest! At least Im trying to come up with ideas for movies that wont require much thought and would provide a giggle or two.And besides...getting the majority of us to sit quietly is kinda hard...so movies we had all seen before would work MUCH better than something we havent ever seen. I also dont hear anyone else coming up with any ideas..Ive been tossing them around since day one when David and August first emntioned movie nights
it could be worse...I could ask for Dolly Parton movies!
9 to 5
Best Little Whorehose in Texas??
How Bout Chevy Chase night??
Caddyshack and Fletch
Steve Martin Night??
The Jerk
Dead Men Dont Wear Plaid
or Chevy and Martin night
Three Amigos! -
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 10:01 AMBen Stiller???
The Cable Guy(he directed it...and its awesome if you havent seen it)
Zoolander
Permanent Midnight
Mystery Men
There's Something About Mary
Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story
Wil Ferrell???
Zoolander
Anchorman
Talladega Nights
-

Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 10:13 AMKeep trying!
Just kidding. All good ideas. I'll even let Ben Stiller slide (he creeps me out -- so funny but hideous to look at). Movie nights are a definite, we'll have time for plenty of themed movie occasions as soon as it starts to cool off. Maybe we need to start a separate thread here for ideas. Hoops, can you repost all yours? :)
Kevin Smith night for sure!!!
And don't think there won't be CHICK FLICK NIGHT! Costuming for that will be extra fun! HAHAHAHA

Wed, August 22, 2007 - 12:20 PM<<And don't think there won't be CHICK FLICK NIGHT! Costuming for that will be extra fun! HAHAHAHA <<
Awesome! Well, as long as that doesn't include Beaches or Steal Magnolias that is. In either of those cases you girls would have to peel me off the floor before I drown in my own tears. They get me!! Plus, I am the world's biggest SAP... yes, I'm one to cry over commercials, remember the old Southwestern Bell commercials...getting a bit choked up now just thinking about them... sniffle. ;)
And don't even get me started on scary movies!!! EAK!!!! -
-
Re: The wheel keeps turning....
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 12:29 PMscary movies won't get miss twinkle out to the lounge! but if you were to watch one [though i wouldn't consider it 'scary'] it should be "the number 23" it is definitely more of a suspense movie....i like those - plus, it's about 23 so how can it go wrong??? : )
