Here's to sin and here's to virtue,
A little bit of both won't hurt you,
A little virtue is enhancing,
A little sin can be entrancing,
Be good, my dear, but don't be haughty,
There's too much fun in being naughty

Sorry! I've been swilling some Italian biters in the meantime like Averna, Fernet-Branca, and Branca Menta. Me Italian grandpa said bitters are good for what ails you in your tum. Right now, I can't even feel my tum!
Time for another toast:
Little lady at the bar,
How I wonder what you are ;
How I wonder what you'll do.
If I grab a kiss from you;
Pretty soon, without a doubt,
Honey, I'll be finding out.
[OMG! I sure hope that wasn't too randy...er, bawdy ...or whatever!!!]

Mon, November 16, 2009 - 8:10 PMMy toast to the ladies:
For all the ladies in the bar,
To you I want to say,
You make our time here at the pub,
A far more brighter day,
Your sweet full smile,
And sparkling eyes,
Have all us on a cloud,
Just to sit in your company,
Makes a guy so proud,
To you all then we'll raise our glass,
and shout a hearty sound,
Bless the ladies at our side... please but another round !! -

Re: MUD 2
Mon, November 16, 2009 - 8:41 PMYou inspired me, brother Perry! So here's another toast to mothy and all the femme fatales:
First, to set the scene, put this up on the pub's big screen:
Film Noir Femme Fatales Barbara Stanwyck, Ava Gardner along with others, play to the song No Future from the Terry Helton band Foxx with wailing lead guitar by Alan Shuffler.
www.youtube.com/watch
And now, my toast:
I used to know a clever toast,
But now I cannot think it,
So fill your glass to anything,
And damn your souls, I'll drink it!

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Fri, November 27, 2009 - 3:28 PMErrrrrrrrrk! I am still zoned out after the feast. I slept until almost 3 in the afternoon today. Feeling very fuzzy-headed, but just going with that. Definitely getting into the Climategate thing, though. Spent a few hours on that in spite of fuzzy head. Heard the fifes and drums in the background playing loudly for freedom and civil liberty. Trying to figure out how to rouse folks to hear the clarion call.
Love is also morphing, and I am just letting that play out.
Basically going with the flow, which feels like a warmly satin-like kind of water right now. -

Re: MUD 2
Sat, November 28, 2009 - 1:56 PMHere in the lower elevations of Southern California, any weather at all is sort of a novelty. The only problem is drivers: inevitably, drivers around here do not know how to drive in the rain. 360 days of the year it's 70 degrees and sunny. -
-
Re: MUD 2
Sat, November 28, 2009 - 2:04 PMAnd then those five days they are awful as drivers. BTW, as a Northern Californian, I always enjoy when i come to that point around Ventura or so when on the freeways most everyone drives as if they are part of the Borg. IMO. Northern Californians (my upbringing) -still- don't know how to drive on freeways after -all- these years, switching lanes ridiculously and dangerously, etc., where as Angelenos--and by extensions most So Cal drivers are -much- better freeway drivers and always have been.... -

however, that reminds me: how about an Irish Car Bomb?
1/2 oz. Irish Cream (Bailey's)
1/2 pint Stout (Guinness)
1/2 oz. Whiskey, Irish (Jameson)
Mixing Instructions
Pour half a pint of chilled Guinness into a beer mug and let it settle. Take a shot glass filled with 1/2 oz. of Irish whiskey on the bottom and 1/2 oz. of Irish cream on top. Drop the shot glass into the Guinness and chug.
-
Re: MUD 2
Sat, November 28, 2009 - 6:23 PMYou guys really wouldn't believe it as much as it rains around here, but folks in Northern Virginia don't know how to drive in the rain, either. Only they have NO excuses. -

Re: MUD 2
Sat, November 28, 2009 - 6:27 PMBelieve me, it's the same all over this benighted country! As soon as rains come, you'd think they all had lobotomies or were Alzheimer's cases here in Cali.... -
-
Re: MUD 2
Sat, November 28, 2009 - 7:53 PMWe get squalls of rain. It has rained so much here this year, I am water-logged. I am glad the trees love it, until the ground gets so wet they fall over on a car with people in it. And we are on a hurricane path. You would think after all this time people would figure out that you have to slow down, pay more attention, keep your car in shape, and use your wits. Pfft. Doesn't happen. -

Yesterday, 4:53 PMThe sun was out all day today and the snow is gone, but it never got over 43 degrees. Still, I'd rather spend my one day off, cold and in the sunshine, than in frozen rain! -
