Oh so naughty and oh so nice! Princess Farhana offers 3 FABULOUS workshops to help to bring out your delicious feminine side with a little bit of Burly-Q and a whole lot of Sass!
Saturday, November 7 Workshops:
"ABS-OLUTELY FABULOUS!"*
Noon - 1:30pm :: $25 per class or $65 for ALL THREE pre-reg/$30 per class at door
It's time to BELLY dance! This special workshop will focus exclusively abdominal technique and core strength and laying the foundation for truly incredible abdominal work. Learn how to flutter and achieve amazing belly rolls ~ We will drill rolls upwards, downwards and from side to side! You will also learn to LAYER your abdominal movements, like the amazing "flundulation", a flutter layered over a belly roll; or combining abdominal work with figure eights and upper torso isolations. Also: stomach pops, many types of body waves and undulations, muscular and breath control. Pretty soon you'll be yellin', "That's Just How I Roll!" Class notes included. *Participants must have basic belly dance technique to participate
"BURLESQUE"*
2pm - 3:30pm :: $25 per class or $65 for ALL THREE pre-reg/$30 per class at door
It's time to strut like a show girl and learn to tease a la Gypsy Rose Lee in the retro-burlesque style! Technique covered: cute entrances and exits; showgirl walks, boa work, bumps and grinds and basic strip tease mechanics. We will also touch upon costuming and burlesque attitude. Princess Farhana is not only a belly dancer, but for eleven years was one of the stars of America's premiere neo-burlesque troupe, The Velvet Hammer, and is now the principle dancer in Margaret Cho's touring variety show, "The Sensuous Woman". Learn about the Burlesque/Belly Dance connections, the legendary stars of burlesque, and burlesque history from the turn of the century to modern times. Bring high heels, some undies, a bra and a pair of gloves plus a feather boa (or a long scarf if you don't own a boa) ~ Revel in your inner tease! *THIS CLASS IS PG-RATED: NO NUDITY REQUIRED! Open to all levels
"EXCITING STAGE MAKE-UP"*
4pm - 5:30pm :: $25 per class or $65 for ALL THREE pre-reg/$30 per class at door
You look like a million bucks in that expensive costume you just bought ~ Now your face has to match! Well-done stage make-up will enhance your features and hide your flaws. We will go over a step-by-step make-up "map", getting your face ready for performance. Learn how to apply false eyelashes like a seasoned pro! Also: tips for photographic make-up (both color and black and white) and tricks for fantasy fun, like going wild with glitter, bindis and color. A clearly illustrated "face map" and notes are included. Please bring a set of false eyelashes and your own make-up and applicators. Tissues and make-up remover will be on hand at the class. *Arrive with a well-scrubbed face, leave as a goddess! Open to all levels
