We have all been talking and we miss the whole setting up of the warehouse. It really was such a fun aspect of the parties. So a few of us last night decided we need to do something big at Phoenix Rising to get out our creative energy.

Plan of Action:

If you haven't seen the freezing in Grand Central Station video, watch it now: youtube.com/watch

Let's do the same thing at Phoenix Rising! We need some type of cue to go off (maybe a horn blast during a certain djs set), and for three minutes we are all going to freeze (until a second horn blast occurs). We figured that there are enough people on this tribe who will see this post to make this a legendary event for the party, but still a few who will never see this post and not know what is going on (including everyone working for the venue!)

So throw in your input, come up with a freezing pose. We shouldn't do it during fire, but if you want, I will gladly freeze while spinning. Ok people, what do you all think? Can we make this happen? Can you imagine Hedy & Erik's video when they capture this!

Let's lengthen this thread....

    I'm all for it!

I don't know how many rooms there are at Shampoo but there may need to be synchronized starters in each part of the club. I'll volunteer to be one. Do we want the dj's to freeze? or the music to stop? Will a whistle be loud enough or do we need blow horns?

It seems to me that the craziness of freezing is that everybody becomes a manican regardless of doing completely different things. So some people should be holding umbrellas, some people talking, some drinking alchohol, some dancing, some in a breakdancing pose (if you can hold it lol) etc.
We need some kind of signal that is announced in each room. How about this:
Let's say the freeze is at 1:am.
10 min before, at 12:50 someone with the authority to do so goes into each room and announces something on the mic, that is a code meaning "the horn is about to sound" to remind people to be ready. They could say anything, like "phoenx is about to rise!" or anything you can think up that sounds less dumb.
At 1:am, someone standing near the hallway area that connects all the three dancefloors sounds a bullhorn.
Everybody freezes for three minutes, when the horn is sounded again.

I like the warning idea. another thing is we need to keep this on the DL during the party. if it's all we're talking about that night, then everyone will know and it won't freak anyone out.

Good call Brian. One thing we need to know is when performances are going on. We probably should wait till those are over to do it, which might mean a bit later in the evening.

Giant Bear could interject here if he knows times.

wow - that would be fabulous on video! You definately need to keep me in the loop as to what time is actually decided upon, so we can be filming right before the freeze and capture the act of freezing.

      This will be priceless!

What would be ridiculous is if at a certain time, all power could be shut off for a few seconds, come back on, and we're all frozen. Yea, it would fuck up the DJs, but it looks cool in my head!

    thank you all for freezing.
the beauty of a freeze is that those who aren't participating don't see it coming, and sometimes don't notice until the freeze ends. and the point of a freeze is to stop no matter what else is going on. so does it matter if fire's happening, or your peeing, or performing, or standing in line at the bar? Well, yes, because the more "normal" things going on the more "abnormal" the freeze becomes. If it's a bunch of people on the dancefloor and no one else, well it has much less impact. Music wise, i think it would be great to have dj's do the freeze (ROBOT FREEZE!) but the music keeps going and the dj is suspended in time.

I can't wait to see video!!! i heart you all so much- except, of course, you, Lucky.I'm just hot for your pits babe.

Im down. I will be DJing early. If its during my set I am happy to freeze. (as long as I don't have to mix to the next song...)
Who is going to video this?

Even better, how about whoever's DJing sets a really short loop and lets it roll for the entire 3 minutes...

Like a CD skipping over and over...

      Man, that'd be deliciously annoying...
