Re: Wicker Man
Thu, March 20, 2008 - 1:08 PMi hope Nicholas Cage isn't there...
this honestly sounds very fun and I'm definitely going -

Re: Wicker Man
Thu, March 20, 2008 - 3:38 PMI agree about Nicholas Cage.
Though, have you seen the old version of the Wicker Man? I think it was
made in the early seventies. Now, that's a classic!

Re: Wicker Man
Thu, March 20, 2008 - 3:21 PMThis was already posted here. Sadly most of us are attending either Flipside or PDF which are the same weekend. Hopefully next year the date will change. The location looks very nice. Best of luck. -

Re: Wicker Man
Thu, March 20, 2008 - 3:39 PMMy thinking is that PDF will be full as always (I've heard they've raised the cap), and therer still
will be enough interested people to also make Wicker Man a success. I don't think the two events
need be in competition at all. They are...complimentary.

Re: Wicker Man
Fri, March 21, 2008 - 5:12 PMi'd like to hear more about the intention to grow an ecologically sustainable burner culture, as was mentioned on the site. does this imply a renewable fuel, such as acetone from vinegar, being manufactered somehow for fire dancing? that would be cool. -

Re: Wicker Man
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 5:26 PMAnd Tim, you could also distill alcohol. It burns way clean and you can make it from waste. Like cardboard even. -
-
Re: Wicker Man
Thu, March 27, 2008 - 7:51 PMThis is hilarious, vinegar itself is produced by oxidation of ethyl alcohol.

Re: Wicker Man
Fri, March 21, 2008 - 5:12 PMOr maybe we'll just have two very different burns in two places on
Memorial Weekend.
My guess is that each location will have its own flavor and people
can decide what's right for them.

Re: Wicker Man
Sat, March 22, 2008 - 4:45 AMYea, PDF strongly considered moving to 4QF, but for a number of reasons didn't. Some reasons were not enough room to expand the event anymore, higher site rental fee, lack of flat and open ground, etc. I think they will have a very successful burn. If PDF keeps growing, which we expect it to, we will hopefully be buying land. Which mean more room, later hours for the music, hopefully less bugs, more shade, and even more events other than PDF. -
-
Re: Wicker Man
Tue, March 25, 2008 - 4:54 PMYeah man, the PLF is choosing Wickerman over PDF this year to run our theme camp for the first time. We're pretty excited about the land. I love PDF, but Wicker Man seems like it's more the vibe we're looking for, since it's in the woods. -

Re: Wicker Man
Wed, March 26, 2008 - 9:50 AMWicker Man is a new event, this is the inaugural burn. I can't imagine they would ban certain kinds of music at a burn...

Flipped Out
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 6:41 AMWell, I sold my Flipside ticket, so now it looks like I'll be attending Wicker Man if I can get an arts grant. Otherwise, I'll probably go experience enlightenment with Dragonfly in Costa Rica. -
-
Re: Flipped Out
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 6:50 AMoooh! Costa Rica! Recently I traveled in central America for 5 months. Costa Rica was great (although lacking in culture it has amazing natural beauty). If you end up going feel free to hit me up for some travel ideas.

Re: Flipped Out
Sat, March 29, 2008 - 8:29 AMUh, PA or costa rica....hmmmm

Re: Flipped Out
Sat, March 29, 2008 - 10:46 AMMer, if you go to Costa Rica, let me know! I'll be there and maybe we can hook up on my day off from my yoga retreat... -
-
I'll have my cake and eat it, too.
Mon, March 31, 2008 - 7:21 AMIt looks like there may be an art grant available from Wicker Man, but for about half the $ I need for my original idea. I think I'll scale back my project and propose something much simpler and smaller, then go to Costa Rica in July. -

Re: I'll have my cake and eat it, too.
Fri, April 4, 2008 - 3:04 PMSo I was just wondering how many PEX'ies will be in attendance for Wicker Man? The space is wonderful if you have never been. I just can't wait. Also on a side note I was wondering if any body was going to MUTEK, the minimal/experimental electronic and technology festival in Montreal at the end of may. Me and Steph are going to be there for a week starting the day after we get back from Wicker Man. It would be cool to see some burners out.. Well see you all around.
