It's 5 Am at the PEX Decom. I am in the back room chilling to Big Jawn's awesome grooves when I am visited by someone very dear to me. Without going into details, we are soon making love in a chair in the corner, blissfully oblivious of the crowd. Right in the middle of things, a wonderful gentleman leans in close and says "Hi. Sorry to interrupt. But I want to make sure you both are OK with what's going on here." We both start cracking up, and assure him that all is good and wonderful and consensual, to which he replies "OK. Have fun." and withdraws.

I didn't get your name, but I want to express my sincere appreciation for what you did. This is what B.E.D. (the Bureau of Erotic Discourse) has been teaching in our seminars for 5 years. If you see a situation in which one party might be coerced, impaired or just not want to have this happen, step up and check in. You're not the sex police. You are just someone who cares looking out for a fellow burner. Just pop in and ask "Is everybody OK here?" Or, as Silver so eloquently put it "Do you both know your safe words? Carry on!"

This teaching moment has been brought to you by the letters R, U O and K, and by the number 69.

I know it was my own fault for leaving my belongings at risk, but that doesn't make you any less of a jerk for taking advantage of my laps in judgement. I hope you put that 10 or 12 bucks to good use, but just so you know, next time you are at this type of event and surrounded by people in this community and you are so desparate for money that you are willing to rob someone, try asking around first. You will find that you are surrounded by generous and loving people who want to help you have a good time and that there are more people there that will help you with what you need than people who will not.

Hi folks -

Diana and I had our bag taken at the event. Someone took it from where we had put it down (yes, stupid I know, please don't tell me again how the bag check was free), took it to a different part of the room, dumped out the contents, and took our valuables. Some items are stolen and we don't expect to recover them. Other items might just have been scattered around, and we are hopeful some of them might have been found.

A full list of items still missing:

- Diana Adams New York Drivers License
- Cell Phone: Reddish brown ATT Samsung Blackjack
- Ipod 3rd generation, video, black 80G
- headphones: Technics RP-DH1200 silver/black dj headphones in black pouch along w/ extra needle tip
- necklace: vintage collar of 3 inches of rhinestones, broken clasp on back
- travel umbrella, black w/ white polka dots
- men's brown zip-up light sweater, w/ white trim & zipper

From talking to other people, it sounds like there were a LOT of thefts of this nature. I've reported the items stolen to Phila. 911 in the hopes that by compiling a fuller list of stolen items, someone there might be more likely to recover something or get some additional information.

If you happen to see / pick up any of these items, OR have any useful info regarding the thefts, please drop me a note.

thanks!
So, I have a friend who's come all the way down from Toronto for this party. Which is awesome. Except as it turns out... he hasn't brought anything to wear! (oops!) Can you help us? He's 6'2" and broad-shouldered, (size XL, shoe size 11), so I haven't got a single thing that'll fit! Have you got any costumacious PEXwear you could lend or trade?
There's barter potential here if you like. He is wise in the ways of custom LED blinkies, Arduino programming. He'll definitely give you love if you go to Toronto decomp in a few weeks. As for me, I can offer hugs, a free Reiki session, help with EL wire shoe mods, or a ride to or from the party from elsewhere in the city... or, we'll totally buy you a drink :)
About the film: Dust & Illusions looks at 30 years of history of Burning Man all the way back to the late 1970s deep into the origins of the event. Through 21 interviewees the film presents the philosophies that fueled the creation of the festival, and its evolution from a small gathering of friends to the largest “counter-cultural” event in North America. It offers a new perspective of the meaning of the event, and questions whether its organizers are more concerned about making sure the show is ready when the gate opens or if they still truly engage in building a community and fostering art.
>
> 1. Sound Problems
> d. Additional Insurance Considerations
>
> 4. Future Fall Burn Needs
>
> a. Additional Wood
> Purchase (we need to consider buying
> additional wood because it's just so much colder. We also

PONY UP! Since you're still feeling a bit of the glow from last weekend and you're just bursting with creativity, please apply to build the next PDF Pony. Our next Burn comes on Memorial Day weekend of 2010.

Maybe you were thinking we were flooded with applications to build the Pony over the years and you don't stand a chance-- well, THINK AGAIN! I've only gotten eight applications over the past seven burns. On the two occasions we didn't get applications, I had to beg and plead. (THANK YOU Ember and Monk-E)

Maybe you were thinking the organization doesn't spend all that much money or care much about the Pony-- well, THINK AGAIN! You can get a grant up to $700, and the Pony is the centerpiece of the Burn. Everyone cares and appreciates a good Pony.

If you have an idea, please fill out the info below and return it to me offlist at jillnado@hotmail.com before Dec 15 (can ya handle the deadline pressure, slacker??). Thank you!

Hey guys, This is Archedream's annual benefit which will be amazing as always! Hope to see you there!

At 7pm on Friday, September 25th, 2009, Friends of ArcheDream for HUMANKIND is hosting a fundraiser performance benefit and silent auction at which we will honor Stephen Fisher, the Philadelphia based co-owner of Studio 34, an activist in the West Philadelphia community. At the same time we hope to raise monies for startup costs to fund our community programs.

At this time of curtailed funding for both the arts and social change, it is important to have your support. Current ArcheDream for HUMANKIND projects include work with homeless men as well as workshops with children in need of alternative ways to express their issues. These programs are unique and innovative in their approach to educate through entertainment while utilizing music, dance, theater, and visual arts to inspire and improve those whom they reach.

Good News! I got a call from Quentin today.
It was very exciting to hear from him being that he got to the playa on Tuesday and I wasn't expecting to talk to him until I arrived this weekend.

Bad News!
He was calling from our camp on the playa. That's right... using his cell phone at BRC!
Our conversation was something like this "It's so great to hear from you... gosh this SUCKS. Oh no, this is HORRIBLE."

: (
Can you imaging everyone calling each other. Hearing cell phones ring. People texting. Communicating with the outside world. Oh no, say it isn't so!

FYI: This may not be the case next week (hopefully) so don't plan on it.

Does anyone else thing this sucks?

Please note that the Videogasm truck is SOLD OUT! Here's an alternative to ship out to the playa:

Get your space on the PEX container heading to BRC, and back, of course...

The basics:
-$6 per cu ft (sold in lots of 5 cu ft)
-Load in Sunday Aug 16th 10am-1pm (no early or late arrivals)
-The container will be at Master and Frankford St Philadelphia, PA 19125
-Everything MUST be in a heavy duty bin

Purchase space here:

https://the-philadelphia-experiment.ticketleap.com/PHL-Container-BRC09

Further Details (please read):

The PEX container is back this year with limited space. It’s the usual routine. EVERYTHING MUST be ready to ship in HEAVY DUTY bins. PLEASE DON’T cheap out on this as no one wants all of your stuff strewn about the playa if your bin busts. Remember, these are packed tight and there could be hundreds of pounds on top of your bins.

Purchasing a ticket reserves your space and is the only way to do so. 10 CU FT is about one bin. SO, if you have 30 CU FT you will buy 6 tickets.

Cubic Feet is calculated by Height x Width x Length. You can also go to this site to make it easy. http://bit.ly/14bRMY

DON’T BE AN IDIOT. No drugs, guns, illegal contraband, life forms, etc can be packed on the container. Your mistakes will jeapordize the entire camp!! If we catch you with anything suspect, expect your items to be burned and you to be ridiculed and banned from PEX for life. Even PEXers have their limit.

Load in is AUG 16th 10am-1pm at Master and Frankford st in Fishtown (philly). No early or late arrivals. http://bit.ly/EG7ht here’s a map.

The container will be making it to BRC around Monday Aug 24th. Pack your items with the expectation they will be placed on a tarp on the playa with a second tarp to cover them.

We are not liable for any lost, stolen or damaged items.
Return details will be confirmed ASAP.
SORRY we’re not able to refund any unused space.

See you on the Playa!

Much has happened since we last updated! We choose to skip our July
newsletter since so much was going on in the PEX Labs during that month...
But we are back. This is a loaded one so strap in and enjoy the ride!

****************
PEX Summer Festival 2009 Recap
****************
To Our Beloved Family:

A whole month has elapsed since we gathered upon the magical grounds of
Ramblewood. Amongst our continuously busy schedules, we've had a chance to
officially digest the wonderfully successful PEX Summer Festival. As a
visual clue of the evaluation, The PEX neighborhood has been riding a buzz
of smiles and warmth thinking of what was, and seeds of excitement about
what is possible next year.

With great pride and confidence we introduced our community to the pacific
beauty that is Ramblewood. Without a flinch, the sentiment was justified.
Our fellow PEXies rolled in full-force and brought the vibe we knew they
could! Through respect of the grounds and an understanding of a higher, yet
grounded consciousness, a beautiful aura of sweetness filled every nook,
canoe, floaty, and suspended rope throughout the grounds. At one point we
think we even saw a frog dancing to a King Britt track?!?

An endeavor like this in its inaugural year inherently calls for a daunting
amount of commitment, time and organizational savvy, and of course...a
calculated leap of faith. The planners and builders can plan and build and
plan and build until the bears come home, but it's all about the people!
Once again we witnessed how our people as a whole come together to create a
synergy and a vibe that inspires this whole community we call PEX. Call it
a vibe, an energy, a feeling, or whatever you deem fit...the universal
essence of PEX is that it is quite real, grows organically, and looks and
feels so, so good.

So you all have done it again. You helped us make magic, and created so
much of your own. For this we thank you, and think you should be proud. We
are! Of course in simplified terms we appreciate all the effort, equipment,
and time the numerous volunteers and staff put in, but we're especially
thankful for you believing in us. In a first year of existence, it can be
intimidating asking fellow friends and acquaintances to commit a significant
amount of time and financial resources to a specific cause, especially
through a holiday...but you did. You committed beyond hopes, and encouraged
others to share in our family as well.

At the core of the event there were a couple of unnamed individuals who hung
themselves waaay out on the line personally in order to create a foundation
to make this a reality. You all have proven why this kind of dedication
exists, and why a property owner who hosts dozens of festival events every
year says, "you have something special here..."

And so...we gonna keep on doin' it! The Ramblewood team looks forward to
next year. In the meantime...inside, outside, upside down and
delicious...give us a musty ol' warehouse, a big dusty desert, a gym in
limbo, or rustic rolling hills...the Philadelphia Experiment is committed to
the mission and will continue to push and explore and dream that which is
possible through love, music, creativity, and a passion to heighten the
senses & spirit...

Well done team. See you next year. Fo' sho'!

Maybe I'm jumping the gun on room in the camp (actual square footage), but I have a potential hook-up on an RV trailer that is owned by a Gerlach-ian who will bring the trailer out to the desert and pick it up for any period of time for a flat fee. My plan is to camp with PEX. Email me if interested in splitting the cost which is a bit much for me alone to do, but the beauty of having an A/C place to crash at from 6am - 2pm is priceless if you haven't had the luxury. Those that want to bitch me out for being one of those RV people - if this does come together, feel free to come yell at me in the a/c when you find yourself begging for couch space on Friday afternoon ;-)

But really - if anybody is interested in this (single/couple/gay/bi/animals/i don't give a shit), I've had a trailer out there 5 of the last 7 years I've gone and it's a god-send most of the time, especially if you're coming from out here (the East) and don't have a good shade structure or are flying into Reno. Usually I would only ask an old friend, but with the infrastructure of PEX, there is no need for worrying about the kitchen/cooking/all that stuff. It can probably sleep a few people. You barely spend any time in it - it's real handy for getting comfortable sleep and a/c when you kick the crap out of yourself night after night. I'm REAL easy to camp with, promise.

email me if interested: shaungindi @ hotmail . com or call me at 303-249-2411. I can explain the much frowned upon lifestyle of getting sleep at BM and how easy an a/c bed makes things. And it doesn't need to be much money if a few get in on it. No gas costs, no mileage, delivered to where we want it to be and picked up - and no need to bullshit anyone about where we're taking it.

Looking forward!! Damn it's close............ Get in touch with me if interested -Shaun (facebook.com/gindi)

I need help with both the setup and breakdown of the Eyes Wide Open Iraq War Memorial (see past iterations of the project at the Burningman.com image gallery, search "Eyes Wide Open" (sorry, link not working here)). You would complete a three-person team that will put up the piece on the Saturday and/or Sunday before the event officially opens and will break it down on Sunday or Monday. Total estimated hours of work will be between 7 to 16 hours.

In addition to the discounted ticket you will get a warm fuzzy feeling of accomplishment in helping put up an important piece, and lots and lots of attention from cute newbie burners when you hang out at the project during the week and subtly let drop "I did this". :-)

I must admit that I hardly ever log onto Tribe anymore since it seems to be broken half the time and slow the other half (took me over 20 minutes to be able to post this). So if you are interested, hit me up on Spacebook (Kenny Blunt), or email me at kennyisblunt (at) gmail.com. Looking to fill in this final piece of the puzzle ASAP!

fellow camp mates, (and other burner folk:) This will be my 11th burn. I was thinking of hosting a playa graduation ceremony. Ex: if you have been out there for 5 years, you hav earned your BA, 8 years is your MFA, and 10 years is your PHD. I am now doing my 'post Doc' work. We may even be able to have honorable mentions for folks that have only been there for maybe 3 years, but their 1st yeat was in the '90's, or they hosted a regional, or hosted burneres without borders or something like that.

.....How can we pull this off without dropping loot. I am selling my art car and having this graduation because I have spent more on BM in the last 11 years than I spent on getting my actual BA. yikes. So, how can we make this graduation thing happen without spending any $$$.

Any volunteers to give a speech? I don't mind hosting this thing, but I am not great with words (this is why I am a photographer people, and not a writer :)

How about we all bring our own caps and gowns. we can decide on colors as far as who gets what. Yes, this will need to be on the honor system. no time to do research and ask folks if they have actualy been out there for 5 plus year (unless you guys can come up an efficient way of doing so). EX: Light Blue is PDH (10 plus years) if you can't find a light blue cap and gown, at least had a light blue thing that does over your shoulder so we know who you are and can have you sit in the right place.

Oh another thing, I won't have 1000 chairs to bring out so, people might want to bring a small towel to sit on if they are wimpy about sitting directly on the playa.

diplomas. does anyone have access to (pref free somehow) printing a bunch of papers?

whomever is a good writer can type up a few one liners for the PHD students, different ones for the MFAs and also for the BAs?

anyone have good stories to share from over the years to include in a speech?

let's hurry up and come up with something the What where when is due next week (i think)

what day and time should we do this thing?

Tuesday, July 21st at 9pm at the World Financial Center Winter Garden. FREE.

The Gamelatron is the world's first and only fully robotic gamelan ensemble. Modeled after traditional Balinese and Javanese gamelan orchestras, the GamelaTron is an amalgamation of traditional instruments with a suite of percussive 117 MIDI-controlled sound makers. Performances follow an arc similar to classic Indonesian gatherings, where stories from great epics, such as the Ramayana, are told and settings given in words that are continued in music.

For this performance, join the Gamelatron, world electronic music legend Karsh Kale and video artists Forward Motion Theater for a majestic evening at one of the River to River festival's premier venues. (The park in front of the building is a great place for a picnic before hand.)
GOING PLACES, DOING STUFF

Dates TBD in August. Suggested donation. Sign up on the website NOW if you want to get in on this, spots go quick!

Following the success of last summer's acclaimed "Going Places (Doing Stuff)," Flux Factory will outdo itself and offer even more amazing artist-led tours to the general public. Think of it as "adventure as performance art." The content of the tours is entirely up to the artist, and destinations are kept secret. Artists will have "carte blanche" to lead a bus-full of people on an odyssey around the greater New York/Tri-State area.

This year our tours will be on board a vegetable oil propelled school bus provided by the Rude Mechanical Orchestra.

Before each tour, we provide only the following information: the artists' name, title of adventure, duration, and a list of needed supplies. In other words, when people sign up for a tour, they know what to bring and how long they'll be gone, but will have no idea where they're going or what they'll experience. Last year's adventures included upstate swimming holes, a trip to a burning city known as "hell on earth," a gastronomic tour through NYC, and a chase after an imaginary character.

Flyer by Justin Aubuchon.

Saturday, September 5, 9pm till quite late! At a never-before-seen, epic warehouse in Brooklyn. More details TBA.

At the end of the summer of 2008, Winkel & Balktick and a motley crew of a few hundred lucky souls ventured to a magical desert of island, full of merrymaking and enchantment. From sunset to sunrise, they were entertained heartily by the natives' gifts of art, performance, dancing and sumptuous desserts.

In 2009, Winkel & Balktick began to receive heartfelt postcards from the island's denizens, inviting them back to their joyful kingdom to share in its myriad delights and wonders. After some consultation with local mariners, rescue crews, magicians and charlatans, it was determined that another voyage could be made.

On Saturday, September 5, 2009, as an enormous wooden man burns in a far away land, join Winkel & Balktick and their crew to create a one night journey through space and time to a kingdom of earthly delights, aquatic vistas and primeval temptations.
CONFLUX: ART, TECHNOLOGY AND PUBLIC SPACE

September 17-20, 2009 in various locations. FREE.

Conflux, the art and technology festival for the creative exploration of urban public space, is pleased to announce the 6th annual Conflux Festival will take place from September 17-20, 2009.

The future of the festival was uncertain after the initial five-year run ended last year. In the midst of the econocalypse, however, artistic and critical attention to the complexities of urban space has taken on a heightened significance. It thus seemed imperative for the festival to continue with a special emphasis placed on resource-sharing, academic analysis, and hands-on and collaborative approaches to the creative examination of the urban environment.
Henry Hudson himself.

This year we celebrate 400 years of enduring friendship between the Netherlands and the United States. Four hundred years ago, a Dutch ship called the Half Moon guided to the shores of what is now New York City with Captain Henry Hudson at the helm. This led to the establishment of New Amsterdam and the New Netherland colony. Some 167 years later, in 1776, the Dutch were the first to salute the flag of the United States of America. NY400 celebrates the free spirit, openness, entrepreneurship and tolerance of those Dutch-American pioneers, and their continued relevance today and beyond.
September 25-27, at Judson Memorial Church in Greenwich Village. $30 for the reception party and two days of presentations.

Horizons is an annual forum for learning about psychedelics, hosted by Judson Memorial Church in New York City. Its goal is to open a fresh dialogue about psychedelics and rethink their role in medicine, culture, history, spirituality and art.

Psychedelics are a unique class of psychoactive drugs that have been used by humans for thousands of years. In the 1950s and early 1960s, academic research with psychedelics yielded important discoveries in psychology and neuroscience. Just a few years later, they entered popular culture across North America, Europe and the world.

Recently, a renaissance in psychedelic research and dialogue has taken shape. Horizons brings together the brightest minds and boldest voices of this movement to share their insights and dreams for the future.
REAL DANCE PARTIES

Sometimes you're not looking for an immersive multimedia art adventures with costumes and interactive sculptures, you just want to dance. And god forbid you should try to go to a Manhattan nightclub seeking a party where people actually dance. Contrary to popular belief, there actually are great plain old' fashioned dance parties in New York City where people get down. You just might have to venture out on a night other than Friday or Saturday.

Every Sunday at The Yard on the Gowanus Canal, check out Sunday Best (pictured above), a sunshine friendly party with some of best house & techno DJs in the world. (Check out the lineup if you don't believe me.) Why see a living legend like Maurice Fulton at a crowded nightclub with $10 drinks and a line to get in when you can check him out underneath a canopy of trees with cheap sangria and amazing mexican food?

On Wednesday nights, Santos Party House on Lafayette has Gravity, DJ Dhundee's weekly exploration of underground dance music. Wander through grime, electro, dirty disco, drum and bass, blacktronica ghetto tech, broken beat, house and hip hop, with Santos's phenomenal sound and lighting system.

On July 30th, and every third Thursday thereafter, join DJ Small Change for No Parking on the Dancefloor. This is one of my favorites... it's not even at a club or venue, it's the House of Yes's elephantine living room / performance space, now with bouncy wood floors. And they've got smoothies.

WINDOWS ON WILLOUGHBY

FIGMENT TRADING POST ON GOVERNORS ISLAND

This September, the City of New York and the Kingdom of the Netherlands are teaming up to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson's voyage to the shores of what would later be known as New York City. Part of the festivities take place on Governors Island, the site of the first Dutch colony, and more recently home to our beloved FIGMENT arts extravaganza.

In order to pay homage to New Amsterdam's tradition of commerce, and explore the economic implications of gifting and participatory art, we are putting together our very own FIGMENT trade route on Governors Island. During one or more days of the NY400 festival, we will be setting up an artistic trade network.

We are seeking artists to envision trading stations based on creativity, games, participation, and historical New York. The two rules are that you can't actually sell anything, and that your project must be participatory. It doesn't need to be complicated or elaborate, although it certainly can be.

Need inspiration? Check out the book Island at the Center of the World, a phenomenal history of Dutch New York.

BOX TRUCK EXTRAVAGANZA

Some of you may have heard reverent whisperings of a secret noodle restaurant called The Lost Horizon hidden in an unassuming rented box truck that has been periodically gracing Brooklyn art parties with its presence. While this secret noodle truck has been having a great time meeting humans, it is also getting lonely and needs some company of its own kind.

In the early Fall, under the cloak of darkness, an armada of themed rented box trucks will be converging upon a desolate Brooklyn boulevard. You are invited to participate by renting a box truck and creating an interactive experience with in the truck to share. Possibilities are endless, so as long as they fit into a non-descript 14'x7'x7' shell. Things that get people to come in, sit down and hang out would probably work best. We also expect a bit of a street scene to break out... Imagine something halfway between a theme camp and an art car.

Tips and donations may be gently solicited from patrons, but nothing should be sold outright, and no one should be turned away for lack of funds. This is a DIY endeavor, there is no funding. Also, please, no alcohol or drugs. We'd like to keep our box truck community on the right side of the law, or at least in its general vicinity.

EVERYTHING ELSE

REVEREND BILLY FOR MAYOR

Learn all about the campaign and opportunities to participate and change the world at http://voterevbilly.org/.

New York City is the sum of its Neighborhoods. The idea that the corporation is the only grown-up institution, and the corporate leader the only true leader- is a costly lie. It is time for fresh ideas and new leadership. It is time for the neighborhoods to rise up and lead New York City, because cities are neighborhoods made of people, not subsidiaries made of money.

What a feeling of openness and opportunity we have at this point in history. We now have the chance to journey back beyond ordinary economic theory, to talk directly about human beings living together, families and children, and the everyday function of a healthy neighborhood, because a healthy neighborhood IS the engine that will drive the greatest city on earth to become truly Viable, Vibrant, Healthy and Safe for EVERYONE!

As Mayor of New York, Reverend Billy Talen will continue the work he has done for more than a decade as a champion of local ingenuity and neighborhood know-how. United as he already is with the city's many communities, his administration will be the connecting force reaching out to all New Yorkers, to create a city that is sustainable, just and free; defending public space, self-determination, and the right for every New Yorker to earn an honest, independent living.

Hey PEX Folks,

What a great event!!!! As I mentioned to a friend, why do burners feel the need to put themselves through hell to have a good time? The answer is we don't have to anymore because of PEX.

Anyway: I lost a Peruvian travel bag there. It probably has a Asbury Park Press beer hugger in it as well as some keys. I bought this bag in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Peru and would very much like to find it.

It has brown a leather bottom and straps with a Peruvian looking knit pattern all around.

Please please please, If anyone sees something like this, please let me know.

What is it about you Pexies? You somehow have that magical touch that turns everything all shiney and good. PEX Fest was more than just an awesome weekend... it was a testament to the community you've (we've) fostered.

It was a forum for music and dance at it's very finest. The music. THE MUSIC. At every turn, at every moment, there was music and sound to awaken the spirit and move the soul.

It was an open invitation for artistic expression in all it's glory - and it was inspiring to see so many people accept your invitation. Performance, paint, installation, video, photography, costume, and song. Art was all around us.

It was fire... from Bear to the Lotus flower to the burning arc and the torches and all the other fire elements that graced our presence. We burned brightly and beautifully.

It was respect, it was friendship, it was love, joy and sharing. I saw our principles being practiced without anyone having to be reminded. I saw people being their best selves... unfiltered, trusted, kind and happy. I saw helpfulness and cooperation, tolerance and acceptance. I saw radical self expression and radical self reliance. I saw us dance that fine line between being responsible and recklessly carefree.

It was children... our next generation... participating and being joyful, and being lovingly welcomed within our village. I saw wonderful parents guiding and protecting them, while at the same time encouraging them to learn and explore, and become part of our community.

For all that it was, I extend my gratitude and love to you PEX, and to all of the participants and contributors that made PEX Fest so magical. It would be silly to think I could even fathom a comprehensive list... but I'd like to give props to those that come to mind at this moment because appreciation feels good, and there are a lot of people who deserve appreciation.

In random order...

Lee... Thanks for the tickle. Everything else pales in comparison.
Aryam... I can still hear you laughing.
Gate crew... that was by far the funnest greeter shift ever! Thank you to all the arrivals who had fun with me at the gate! Jeanette... you rock.
Sly Fox... I actually had a beer tonite called 'Sly Fox'.. and I made a toast in your honor. I adore you.
Canteen Crew... thank you for the slushies and for being so sweet! You worked so hard for us, I hope you found it rewarding.
Arche Dream... for the amazingly beautiful show. I can't wait to see you on the playa this year.
Aerial performers... for bringing your talent to our fold and gracing us with your presence.
DD... for the look on your face, the love in your heart, and the genuine awe of what is possible.
Maat... for creating a space where open, honest discussion is welcomed and encouraged. Or just hang. It's all good.
Whiskey and Whores... thanks for bringin it. You made it feel like ho' me.
Filthy and Danielle... for the fact that it's a week later and I'm still laughing myself to tears as I recant our adventure.
Gamelatron... one of the most beautiful creations I've ever encountered. Thank you for sharing it with us and for your last 5 minutes of gennie power.
Meso Creso... for bringing your oasis, your great vibe and your generosity.
Monk-E, Big Jawn, Ed and Discount... damn, you guys sure do know how to burn shit good! Thank you for the Bear! 120% baby.
The Mayors Chair... what a wonderful vocal trip. I loved it!
Lars... thank you for the experience of being in front of your camera, and for sharing your amazing art with us!
Food Crew... whoever did all the cooking and meal plan stuff... and to whoever decided to offer a meal plan... thank you! Simply brilliant.
Hedy and Erik... your presence was felt, and you were missed. I wore 'Hope & Fear' all weekend... I lost Fear.
The Signs leading to the Bear...we read them backwards... did you know they were a palindrome? Lovely.
Angel and Lucifer... for joining forces with us and being part of our happy family. I love my campmates.
Luke and Morganna... for making donuts! I cannot believe you friggin made donuts! How awesome is that!
Cabin folk... to all the people who rented cabin space and so kindly shared their bathrooms with us. Thank you, a million times, thank you.
Pool fun... everyone who brought tubes, rafts and noodles... and the lifeguards! Thank you for the joyous gathering during our hot summer weekend!
To our campground hosts... a beautiful location, great facilities, outstanding swimming pool. I sincerely hope we proved to be welcomed guests on these grounds, because I'd like to come back :-)

And last, but certainly not least... to all the DJ's and musical performers. This weekend was a lot of things... a lot of amazing things... but the music was our canvas. Thank you. I overheard a moment that I think sums it up best....

Some people drove into a sound camp on a golf cart. They looked 'official'. The camp leader asked "Oh, I'm sorry, is it late? Do we need to turn the sound down?" The 'officials' on the golf cart said "Where the fuck to you think you are? This is PEX Fest! Turn it up and let's dance!"

xoxo
Dusty
