We're about to propose!

topic posted Tue, February 14, 2006 - 12:06 AM by  nicoles
And I'm wishing we got hardcore about this earlier, but I guess that's always the case. The writely file's looking good, the budget's looking filled out, the renders & sketches look amazing, and I'm excited. Also tired. Anyhow, if everyone/anyone feels up for looking this stuff over before say, wednesday morning (that's when it's due!) PLEASE DO.

thebluenight.net/project/
A bunch of stuff lives there.
For example, the budget can be found at thebluenight.net/project/2...Budget.xls
Lina's renders are all availible in eye-meltingly high resolution at thebluenight.net/project/linaproject/ (Also in the photo section of the tribe!)
The fuel maps all prettied up are at thebluenight.net/project/I...20Maps.png

Also, there are various early renders and other fun stuff.
If anyone wants to be a real hero and check out the proposal, the latest published revision can be found at www.writely.com/View.aspx

THANKS! I AM TIRED!

I'll definitely give it a look during the day tomorrow and post whatever I have to say here.

That looks really good! A couple times I started to think "Oh, but they should mention..." or "What about...." only to find my question already answered further on. As much as such a thing can be, the budget looks pretty well thought out, though I bet you still end up spending more than that. A quibble: for a 60ft diameter perimeter you'll need more like 200 ft of fencing.

Oh, and what's the $4000 "labor" item under on-playa /transportation costs?

One of my friends works for the Artery and is part of the BMOrg comittee that selects what grants to fund. She made a big point of being sure to put together a budget that included the cost of thing as though we were going to pay to have everything done for us. She said to definately put in a goodly sized dollar figure for labor, especially skilled labor (welding, engineering, fabrication.)

        So there it is.

OK, that makes sense- but it was stuck under "on-playa/transportation" so it looks like you're going to be paying $4 grand for labor having to do with transportation or on-playa stuff. I'd either put it with the parts/fab or in a separate category.
