We have had one hell of a ride this last year. Made it to Sturgis for the 69th annual meet. We did the walk around Devils Tower, and had a great ole time. The ride to Wounded Knee was filled with thoughts about the American Indian and how the Great Native People of America got screwed by the government sworn to protect them. We viewed the resting place of the great Sitting Bull, near Mobridge, South Dakota, and thought of the man and his beliefs. Sitting Bull fought for God and country, and his beliefs! If I could have known him - we would have been friends!
It is a real shame that so many Americans go to work every day - unknowingly caught up in the grind of life, and never take the time to learn about our history and historic places. The people that do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it! Oh not as as our once great Indian Nations, but as all Americans who are led on by many a crooked politician with their broken promises and treaties!
Perhaps when you take your next ride across this great and wonderful land of ours - you too will be moved by the sweat, blood and tears shed by the peoples who made it possible for us to move freely. People should not fear their Government - the Government should fear it's people!
As I recall the things we learned at school, I must reevaluate the teachings. If you take the time to drive down 27th or 28th streets in many of our cities, or off the Vegas strip, you will see the real America, not outlined by lights or glitter. Take time to see our people, and how we live, what made us great, and what has not!
Battles are won and lost - but some wars go on forever! The war to feed our people, and eliminate poverty is being fought by some for the people we rarely hear from. The vast majority of Americans are oblivious to the plight of our nation. Look listen and learn - before your cast your only hope - your next VOTE! Some politicians in Washington have made our bankers rich, and lined their own pockets with profits and splendor. Our pockets are taxed too much already and they beckon for more! Many have long forgotten the oath which held them to their positions. Only your vote scan bring change.
The people in South Dakota and Wyoming have a better understanding of the truth. perhaps you too can take a ride, and look listen and learn before it's too late for us all? We cannot rely on our police to keep us from harm. Our government has been overburdened with keeping peace, while engaged in war abroad. YOU and ONLY YOU can protect your body, family and property from those bent on taking it! Actually I confess to mis the freedom to cry my rifle in my truck, or a pistol on my belt, as it should be! I will not relinquish my weapons ever! I will protect my family and property by force if necessary. The right to bear arms is part of the American way. Guns don't kill, people kill!
As a modern American I have the right to vote for the people I choose. Why does a person spend millions of dollars for a $200.00 thousand dollar a year job? I must ponder the question - Where are we going as a country?
