June 2 at Annapurna

Hi Bindis!
You're all invited to come and dance with us at Farfesha's "Night of Belly Dance" on June 2 at 7:30pm. We'll have sign-ups to mix and match dancers from different studios to make groups to dance to well-known tribal songs. It's an experiment that will be truly improvisational.

Farfesha LLC presents a show at Annapurna on the first Friday of every month, but it's not often all tribal. Here is an occasion to get dressed up, a deadline to finish that new costume piece you've been working on, a reason to buy that choker you've been eyeing, ha ha. You can e-mail me to sign up ahead of time. I hope that we'll see you there. Yalla Farfesha -- means let's go have fun!

Cheers,
Alisa

    Thanks Alisa!
This sound super cool! I love to "play" with dancers who I have never or rarely danced with! What a fun idea....we will definately come and play! Do we sign up now or that night? I did something similar to this idea down in Roswell a few years ago...it was fun to announce it..."this is what happens when you bring a dancer form ABQ and a dancer from Roswell..they have NEVER danced together before this moment...LOL ...SO MUCH FUN!!! Since we all are learning basicly the same or similar movements...it is totally a great way to fuse dancers that normally don't work together! Mad props to you for this GREAT idea.

      Hi again,
Sorry for the delay in my reply, I am getting ready to leave town for a couple weeks. After I get back, I will make the sign-up sheet for the night's line-up and bring it by Wed. night drill class. In the meantime, I hope that you're all enjoying spring.

      Cheers,
      Alisa

    Hello again,
Here is the current list of songs we'll be dancing to... Find the songs you know and like (or just like the title and want to dance) and if I don't see y'all at drill class on Wed. night, then e-mail me to sign up for a particular song.

*Track Title *Artist / Album *Length *bpm
    1. Shashkin Quango Mystic Groove 05:11 108
    2. Gargabas FCBD & Helm / F'il Waha At the Oasis 04:14 114
    2. Luxor Baladna (extended) Afra Baladna Said 06:57 126
    3. Huriyah FCBD & Helm / F'il Waha At the Oasis 04:52 78
    4. Der Bauch (shortened) Quango Mystic Groove 04:20 108
    5. Algerian Drum Song Gypsy Caravan/ Migration 04:04 132
    6. Ou Est Ma Petite Danseuse? Gypsy Caravan/ Migration 04:27 n/a
    7. Sweet Lassi Dub Quango Mystic Groove 06:46 108
    8. Darban Jooth Na Boley Solace / Vadalna 05:30 120
    9. Shiraz Putumayo Sahara Lounge 03:32 90
    10. Two Gypsies Solace / ShaWaza 03:07 120
    11. Zaynab Turbo Tabla / Belly Dance Overdrive 07:13 132

the shorter songs (under 5 1/2 minutes) have up to four spots and the longer songs have five. our plan is this: if five dancers sign up for a song, then, it will be presented in chorus formation presenting duets so that as you rotate through the chorus you get to dance with two different people. (depending on the space, the duet could also wander off into the restaurant area and the chorus would turn into a trio until the duet comes back.) but if only two sign up then it's a duet, etc.. we'll see how the plan works in reality! 'hope to hear from you or see you there!
