ABQ classes

Hi there! Starting in March, I'll be in Albuquerque for a few months while my boyfriend is on a work assignment. I believe our apartment is going to be somewhere near the university. At any rate, I am looking for a good class recommendation close to there or that I could reach using public transportation. I've been taking tribal classes for about two years now, so something in the "advanced beginner" skillset would be great, but I have no objections about revisiting the basics!

Claire Litton has been dancing since 1993 and teaching since 1996; as
a solo dancer, she opened her own studio in 2002, and instituted a

performance company Khafif Music and Dance, voted Best-Kept Secret
for 2007 by Zaghareet Magazine, she has toured all around the US and
Canada, teaching and performing at workshops, conventions, and
private functions. She is also a huge nerd. And, totally
coincidentally, has worked in a library since 1999.

Kara Nomadica CD update!!!

Good morning everyone!
We are pleased to announce that we are going through the final bits of recording and editing before we send our tracks off to be mastered and mass-produced! Hopefully we will have the LP ready to sell sometime in April.

We are very grateful to those of you who have prepaid the LP for being so patient with us. We really tried to get this thing finished this winter, and we apologize that this didn't happen--we want to provide you with the best possible recordings, so instead of rushing the album out we decided to postpone it.
That being said, we are VERY pleased with the results so far and will be delivering to you a professional product.

Once we release the album we will be putting together a CD release party and will be available for touring around later this year.
If you are putting together a bellydance workshop weekend somewhere and want a great live band drop us a line!!!

Another bulletin will be sent out the day we send the tracks out with a more precice release date!
Thank you for all of your amazing support and wonderful compliments.
We couldn't do this without such amazing fans and audience!

Jan. 18-20 2008, need help

I've been dancing for several years and live in Florida. I will be coming out to Albuquerque Jan 18-20 (Friday- Sunday) to visit with my boyfriend. He's never seen this kind of dance and I'd love to take him to a show or an event or something. I know it's big in Albuquerque, but I can't seem to find anything going on that weekend. Does anyone know of anything I can attend? Are there any restaurants (middle eastern or Greek) that have dancers on the weekend for dinner? They are all over Florida, but I'm not sure about in Abq. Any help is greatly appreciated ladies! Thank you so much in advance!!! :)

That's right, it's finally here....a night of "Sideshow Acts and Experimental Bellydance". The show will be at Hunab Hookah on Thursday, Nov. 1st (located at 3400 Constitution NE in Albuquerque, NM). Doors will open at 7pm and the show will start at 8pm. We will have Sadaqah and Codavi performing live and tons of fabulous local dancers performing! The cover is $5. Hope to see you all there!

Sideshow Acts and Experimental Bellydance

Have you had a vision for an off-the wall, out of the box (and your comfort zone) performance but have never had the venue or audience for it? Here's your chance to do something....different. We are encouraging Halloween-themed performances, sideshow acts, and poi-though the poi must be non-fire only-glow balls, etc. (I'm sure there are many more unusual acts-let us know!). This is a show for non-traditional bellydance and "other" acts.
We have many slots available for performers interested in improv to live music. Limited slots are available to performers using a CD. Please e-mail Bastet at bastetfusion@gmail.com for a performance slot.
Show is at Hunab Hooka in Albuquerque, NM on Thursday, Nov.1st at 7pm. Doors open (and performer check-in) is at 6pm.

Rogue Bindis this Saturday!

The Rogue Bindis will be making an appearance this Saturday, January 13th at their favorite local watering hole, The Chama River Brewing Company at Central & 2nd street downtown around 10pm. Space is super cramped and limited--kinda like a NYC apartment--so get there early to get a seat and drink delicious beer.

Hi Bindis!
You're all invited to come and dance with us at Farfesha's "Night of Belly Dance" on June 2 at 7:30pm. We'll have sign-ups to mix and match dancers from different studios to make groups to dance to well-known tribal songs. It's an experiment that will be truly improvisational.

Farfesha LLC presents a show at Annapurna on the first Friday of every month, but it's not often all tribal. Here is an occasion to get dressed up, a deadline to finish that new costume piece you've been working on, a reason to buy that choker you've been eyeing, ha ha. You can e-mail me to sign up ahead of time. I hope that we'll see you there. Yalla Farfesha -- means let's go have fun!

good belly dance instructional videos?

Can anyone recommend? I found a mirror in the alley and have been practicing at home A LOT but I think something more structured (like a video!) would be helpful. Mostly I'm just looking for repetitive strength building stuff.
