How stupid do you have to be? I thought you needed hours and hours of flying hours to be allowed in one of these things and yet still this happens?!?!

Great, my mom's husband is trying to to get his pilots license. Scares the hell out of me, knowing he has a pacemaker and can still get a liecnse for smaller planes that only go so high. I don't want whatever inheritance coming to me that bad.

That's a whole new level of stupid. Not to mention dangerous. The problem is that anyone with the money or the inclination can get into one of these things and fly it and rules and regs are strict but not adhered to.

        Hm.

It could be my American upbringing and acculturation, or perhaps I'm a deviant sort of person, but I found myself scratching my chin and thinking, "AWESOME" instead of "duh".

Imagine how fucked up it would have been if the pilot had been *trying* to execute that maneuver.

Lokifreign it can't be your American upbringing because I also laughed and said "cool!" rather than think of the potential tragedy. I bet they pay stunt people thousands to try to do this kind of thing and some idiot managed it by accident.

That looks like something I could have done by complete accident, probably while screaming and covering my eyes!

For me, it's like is the glass half-empty or half-full. It reminds me of a time when my friend was making a frozen pizza in a gas oven. The gas had been on and he had trouble lighting it. By the time he got it started, it shot out flames and singed his eyelashes. I said he was lucky and he couldn't understand. But I was thinking he could have gone blind and burned out his eyes or something, so it wasn't so bad.
