Just saw this on the company blog thing. Some dates for your diary of when Tribe.net won't be working, add about four days to each date and you have an idea of when you have no hope whatsoever of getting online!
If you've been following the company blog you'll know that I'm heading up a project to rewrite tribe.net with a group of tribe.net folks. This is a top-to-bottom overhaul, with machines, database server software, and application framework upgraded. We are experiencing some delays, but it's nothing I really didn't expect with a project of this magnitude. We're still doing it damned fast!
First off, we are altering our timeline for rollout somewhat. Here is our new schedule, updated from last post:
Alpha -- (August 3rd)
Beta test roll out (August 10th)
Tribe.net 3.0 rollout (September 10)
Second, we've blown a coder! Our AJAX/UI developer is moving on to greener pastures -- meaning some place that pays. If you are interested in an unpaid internship for the duration of this project please email me your resume at darren@tribe.net. It's not going to be anything too strenuous -- we're not going to ask you to make anything like Facebook's integrated chat bar at the bottom of their page, but we'd go absolutely nuts over you if you wanted to do something like that to defeat the evils of Facebook once and for all and just so you could put it on your resume.
Finally, we have t-shirts! My living room has been taken over by the limited edition of 500 t-shirts that we finally sold enough year-long memberships to order! We are packaging them all up this week and moving them out to the post office slowly but surely! The artwork is by people.tribe.net/stitchmind and if you want to do artwork for an upcoming series of 500 then send me an email at darren@tribe.net!

Re: Dates for the Diary!
Wed, July 30, 2008 - 3:38 AMYeah well I'd also put everything back a month and then say everything will be offline for a week each time.
What is Alpha? And why is it before Beta? I thought Beta testing is something you did before a roll out as in Beta meaning second and Alpha meaning first. Am I being thick? -

Re: Dates for the Diary!
Thu, July 31, 2008 - 8:03 AMDarren says <<Alpha is where we show what we've done to Mark Pincus and the QA folks so they can tell us if we made any glaring errors before we set you folks loose on it.>>
Riiight. I'm not feeling the confidence yet!
