Just an update on flyer coverage:
So far we have covered Division, Hawthorne, and NW 23rd and 21st (as
far as I know). Please let us know if anyone has covered any other
areas. We do want to get Alberta, Belmont, Broadway covered if we can.
I have run off a stack of handbills which I will hand off to whoever is
around at the VC on Thursday at 7pm. (I can't guarantee that I will be
available to hand them out though.)
As an interesting side note about putting up flyers, as I was doing NW
21st I ran into a guy that does flyers as a job, hired by venues like
Doug Fir. He goes out 3 times a week, and has very clear ideas about
what is viewed as "fair" flyering and what is not. At one point he even
used the term "the code of the pole;" I shit you not. Yeah, what a
dork. Anyway he was nice to me as I seemed to be observing the sacred
code, but he told me that he (and others like him) will rip down posters
if they are haphazardly placed (i.e. not observing the "patchwork of
the pole," I shit you not) or covering up flyers for events that haven't
taken place yet, or are the only flyers on that pole for a certain
event. "People have realized what a power I am out here." Yeah. Anyway,
just wanted to let you know that those losers are out there a lot more
frequently than we are, and will tear our shit down if they don't think
we're playing fair.
Take that as you will. Now excuse me while I go implement the code of
my own pole.
