don't know a whole lot more, but i went to Evolution this weekend to see Eden Love, a raw, vegan chef, and she confirmed it. she said msg is not added to it or anything, but that it is created in the process somehow. so two thumbs down, at least from her perspective.

I never understood the value in that stuff in the first place; I didn't really like the taste. I always thought it was funny that crunchy folks would douse everything with it.

i was using it because i can't use soy sauce, i guess i will stick to the umeboshi plum vinegar!
  • Braggs is a no-go...

    Yes, Derek is right...

And also - hello there everyone! This is my first posting on the Vegan Bus!!! (and actually, probably ever on tribe) So you should consider yourselves blessed... :)

Bragg's is a very questionable product - the company denies everything, but independent researchers seem to have been able to show that is has MSG or at least some of the same properties... Check out this link:

I recommend using Celtic sea salt or Himalayan salt - they are both loaded with important minerals that the body needs. We are definitely lacking minerals in our diet - even most vegans, probably, so I would recommend anything that supplies the body with more of them, like:
    ALL ORGANIC:
green leafy vegetables - all veggies, in fact
fruits, berries, nuts (almonds are great), seeds (sesame are good for calcium)
    Spirulina, blue-green algae
Sea vegetables - dulse, nori, arame, hijiki, sea lettuce, etc...
And just more raw foods in general... :)

Probably that was more information than you all were bargaining for, but I thought it might be helpful...

    Ciao for now...

    Eden Love xoxo

thanks for the info, i have to admit, i have always been a little skeptical about bragg's. i think i like my himalayan sea salt better anyhow. another good alternative is umeboshi plum vinegar. doesn't taste anything like soy sauce or bragg's, it is quite sour, but delicious!
