Back in 1967 society was changing and there was electricity in the air. The feeling of urgency was everywhere. It was in the paper, on television, on the radio and in the music that we listened to. You could just feel it, all around, REVOLUTION! Change was happening in my life as well. A band that I was in called the "Street Lites" had just broken up and I needed new direction. I needed a heavier band, one that could play some of the new music that I had heard by "The Doors" and the under rated "Music Machine" among others. It was then that I met Larry Cagle, a fantastic organ player and all around good energy guy. We found Norm (drums), Jim (bass) and Larry T (lead vocals) and formed the "Violet Wing" We were known mostly for our "Doors" stuff. Little Larry did a great Jim Morrison and usually had the girls screaming. What a great time we had!
Just recently I organized a band reunion with most of the Wing and one of the Street Lites. We just about made a whole group. The only element missing was a lead singer. The music sounded pretty rusty and you could hear bones creaking but you know ... the energy was still there! Afterward we were so high on the experience that we decided to do it again.
This Tribe is formed to bring together all those who played in the band with those who listened and grooved to their music. It is also open to anyone who is interested in future happenings involving the Wing who, incidentally, are currently reforming for a trip down memory lane.
