Thanks for writing, and I am sorry that you’re frustrated! Months of member research, gleaned from posts, surveys, and focus groups, led us to conclude that the best way to keep Tribe economically healthy for the long term, is to introduce more advertising. (We have in fact had much less display advertising on our site than on sites similar to ours.)
I know that these ads will definitely take awhile to get used to, but please know that we will continue to work on the challenge of integrating the ads in a palatable way. We’re also working on gearing the ads specifically to you. We look forward to your continued feedback!

Tue, August 23, 2005 - 1:51 PMI got the same letter back. I don't see how any focus group would be enthusiastic about those annoying ads. We may get used to them, but we'll jump ship if a better option comes along.
