"You are moving on a stream that is you, but it is even over and beyond you...that is your energy" Katherine Dunham
I wanted to share these clips on Katherine Dunham. What her life and position in the arts and in her community represented are extremely inspiring. She had an full life dedicated to a vision that extended well beyond her, led by values that touched many and her life story proves that a huge potential exists to make positive changes through art that unite people across cultural bounds and make a difference in the face of humanity.

On Katherine Dunham….
“She had a multi-faceted world in her. She was an artist, she was an author, she was a choreographer, an anthropologist, a philanthropist, you name it - she had been there…… I think this is what she wanted the children to know…that you don’t have to stop at one thing, you know the world is filled with different things to do..and she wanted them to know that they’re a part of it.”
“I hope to make a difference, but it is up to the people themselves to do a lot of work…. I want them to take nothing for granted, to take everything as possible and that I think is a big problem here for people to understand that they have it…they just have to use it….we have never really used everything that we have…” Katherine Dunham
