Friends,

Does anyone have any information on making Ambil?

I'm working my way through the Wilbert book, and would like to explore this medicine, but I'm not sure where to start. I know a few folks have mentioned it here before, and I was hoping someone could share any pointers they might have.

How much Tobacco & Water should I start with? Any ideas for other plants to add to the brew? From reading the Wilbert book the options seem fairly diverse, which I appreciate it. Reading about Salt & Ash being added, I thought I may try adding some Tequesquite (chloride & sodium carbonate, evaporated from Lake Texcoco). I also have some Edible Lime on hand as well.

Any suggestions you can give - where to start, what amounts, any other plants that you've added, etc. - would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

Love,
Veg

hey veg glad you are going to work with this one.
i like ambil its super strong though so go easy, even the steam from cooking it can carry nicotine with it.

but when i make ambil i put a whole plant in, green.
fill a pot 3/4 with water and simmer it all day until it get low about 1/4 or a bit less.

then i will remove the tobacco, squeeze the leaves of water.

then you can add your other additives if you like.

now that tequesquite sounds really good, i would most definitely add some of that not sure how much but you may need to experiment with that one, you could add a little and always add more at the end if it needs it. how does one go about that?

in the book i recall reading some people add 2 avocado seeds, i have done this beofre not sure how it affects the ambil.
some cayenne pepper is nice as well, gives it an added spicey taste. and some sugar from sugar cane. to make it sweet.

but in a way i prefer it plain as well, jsut the alkaline, lime or ash and the tobacco.

anyway you can also add some plant that is going to make it go jelly like, i have used cornflour, in one batch. traditionally i think they add manoic starch/flour. but i forget.
i doesnt need alot of that, jsut a little to thicken is all i do, i actualyl prefer it as a soft resin, as opposed to jelly consistency.

so you reduce the last bit down with the lid off and on a low heat, until it goes real low and become thick, dont let it burn.
then scrap it out and let it cool it shoudl go harder and youc an stare it on a container. take about a matchead rub it on the gums or let it jsut dissolve in the mouth. good strong stuff.
go easy. especially if your tobacco is strong.

let us know how you go bro.
all the best any further Q ask away.

      vs-

You rock! This is exactly the information I was looking for, and so much more. I particularly appreciate the "match head" reference. Thanks brother!

The only question I have at the moment is if you think some cured leaves would work? I don't have green leaves, but have some really nice, really strong, all natural Tobacco leaf on hand. You think that would work?

Thanks again for your help. I'll definitely report back when I have made the Ambil.

      Love,

well i reckon it would work with the cured leaf.

i have only read of it done with green leaves and read that it is green leaves prefered to be used, mainly the larger lower ones. but i dotn see why you cant give it a go with cured leaves if i had alot of them i would do that, i cant get cured leaf here, organic its a real bummer. but i got alot and i mean alot of seedlings right now.

        enjoy bro

at what point do you add the lime or ash?
you just mix it into the batch?

              ahh thanks bro.

wouldnt want to step on anyone toes though.

you add the lime when you add the other ingredients or when its gets down low almost finished.
dont add too much though,i think this is the hardest part to making it getting the right amounts, to much will be not so nice.
i tend to go little bit at a time and test it as i go, jsut in little bits, and not too much at a time, its strong shit remember.
