Workshops will be held from 1-2:30p and 3-4:30pm , each $20. A hafla is scheduled in the evening from 7:30-9:00pm. More information will be posted tonight on my website. <br/> <br/>Here are the workshops descriptions: <br/> <br/>Tribal Style Basics: This workshop is designed for those will little to no knowledge of Tribal Style Belly Dance. We will cover four movements that are fundamental to this style of dance. Slow, medium and fast paced rhythms will be used to demonstrate and practice these movements. <br/> <br/>Ritual In Belly Dance: <br/>Using her experience as a priest in the Feri Tradition of Witchcraft, we will cover the basics of ritual theory and how this theory applies to dance. First we will begin with welcoming gestures. Then we will learn to set the space as sacred and make invocatory gestures to call in a force of power. By the end of the workshop you will have enough concepts and practices to develop your own ritualized performance. <div>Regarding design and craftsmanship: I feel like I'm in the middle of a high school production of The Fountainhead. What bums me out is how few people are really able to discern quality from trend. How folks are not really capable of recognizing good material from shoddy workmanship. How easy it is to fool the public with flash instead of presenting to them quality and beauty. This could break me. <br/> <br/>But I'm a fighter. I will not demean my good work just for quick sales. I'm not going to sacrifice my design philosophy for popularity. I will wait for the few who do get it, that's really all I need. Just for the few brilliant, self-thinking individuals who know excellent work when they encounter it. <br/> <br/>I think I'll just be the Tom Waits of design. Difficult to understand, but who always follows his own way. Someone who knows his own voice and doesn't compromise that even if he isn't the number one superstar of the world. <br/> <br/>So the only real question is, how to keep that little whiner in me from taking over? They are also planning a digital exhibit and asked for some photos. I can't believe I don't have one of myself in full assuit drag. It's not a complete outfit, it's a bra, pantaloons and veil. It was the most expensive set I had on hand.
