So what's your favorite nourishing/medicinal food?

A current favorite of mine is Wild Turkey stew with Nettles, Parsnips, Carrots, Onions and Celery, so simple and yummy. Today though, I'm eating Onion-Elk Soup with Sauerkraut.... For me, wild meat is one of the most healing foods, and infuses me with the wildness of the land I live on....

Stinging Nettle soups. Made with a vegetable or chicken stock. Scallions, thinly sliced carrots, garlic, bok choy, tofu if you like tofu, or my variation is to stir in an egg.
I pick the youngest and tenderest nettle leaves. I will sautee them briefly in olive oil...very briefly...drain on a paper towel, and then drop them into the simmering stock. Once the stock reaches boiling, turn it down to simmer and add the other veggies. When the carrots and bok choy are soft, add the stirred egg. Serve once the egg is cooked.

Variations are small pieces of chicken breast.

A minestrone variation made with beef stock, beans, noodles, tomatoes, onions, carrots, garlic and beef sausage is also very tasty.

Nourishing Herbal Vinegars are such potent food.
Right now I am putting on my salad along with olive oil.....
      Hawthorne Berry
      Burdock Root
      Dandelion Root
      Wild Rose
      Douglas Fir
      Stinging Nettle
I usually choose just one at a time.
Sometimes, because the Douglas Fir is so potent, I put stinging nettle vinegar with just a dash of Douglas Fir.
      Peace, Julie
