Hey all,
Maybe I'm missing something (sorry if I am) - what are the July dates for this festival?
The gathering I co-create, http://spiritfirefestival (SpiritFire Festival) is July 30 - August 3rd. I think we have a lot in common - maybe we can cross-pollinate our grooves and support each other's adventures! Please be welcome.

According to the Starwood FAQ page, the festival is always held around the third weekend of July. So, that means in 2008 Starwood will either start on Tuesday the 15th (two days after TMG) or on Tuesday the 22nd.

Tue, October 23, 2007 - 8:16 AMThe Sirius Rising Festival will be taking place at Brushwood Folklore Center in Sherman, NY from July 14th through July 20th, which means that Starwood will be the 22nd through the 28th.
Many people treat this as one big festival.

Wed, October 24, 2007 - 8:03 AMYeah - the problem for me with TMG is going to be timing.
I haven't been to Starwood in a while, but I was one of the co-creators of the original didge dome there, and ran the didge workshops there for many years. They are building a new dome this year, and I would like to be there for the inaugural event. However, there's only so many days that I can take off for festivals in the summer. If I go to Starwood, *and* want to go to JT and/or Indiginus, that's already a month of days that I'm in festival land for summer 2008.
So, never say never, but the timing is challenging for me.

That's about as definite as they get over there.
My assumption is that - like every year for the past 15 or so - Starwood will follow on the heels of Sirius.
It's not in stone, but it's a good bet.

Thu, October 25, 2007 - 4:48 PMI've been playing didge for over five years now, and my first didge was from the DidgeridooStore... I still buy from them regularly. Anyways, I had always wanted to go to the JT didge festival, but never made the effort to really plan ahead.
Last year, I decided to get really serious about my didge playing, and planned more than 6 months in advance to go to California... it was fantastic. Purchase everything in advance to help keep last minute costs down, and go have some fun!
Ithaca is pretty amazing...

Sun, October 28, 2007 - 9:33 AMI think that's a question a lot of folks have to deal with each season! Being a teacher helps with schedule on my end - but basically I try to plan a year ahead and save up for specific events. Hope you can make it to bunches!

Sun, October 28, 2007 - 10:40 AMCool, it looks as if I will need to plan ahead! That is probably not a bad thing since I need to practice some more before I will have enough courage to play in front of people I am not too familiar with. I guess I am a little shy.
Does anyone have any good ideas on how to hook up with some other didger's. I am in the Portland, OR area and I have checked out some of the local people/event type places on the tribe, and even craigslist. I just want to get together for some ideas, tips, and some jamming. I am getting better at my skills but I just feel a need to didge with others.
I am always appreciative to all of you who take the time to help all of us "newbies".
